Bleh, so i gave the blind waifu a book and apparently i wasn't supposed to. Not sure if i fucked up her quest haven't bought any of the dark spells yet they are sitting in her inventory but i can't believe From is still at it with this shit, allowing you to fuck up things without the slightest indication you are doing something wrong.
Supposedly, if you refrain from purchasing any of the dark miracles, you will still be able to complete the holy path of Irina's questline and will also not adversely affect Eygon of Carim. The holy path involves
delivering the Braille Divine Tome of Carim and Braille Divine Tome of Lothric, purchasing all associated miracles, and then speaking to her in the Fire Keeper's Tower (accessible by purchasing the Tower Key).

Man the net code in this game is dogshit. I'm trying to do the wolf covenant shit and out of 10 invasions 7 failed to connect, and the three times i managed to get in i just found twinked out dudes. I then tried to farm the Grub guys or whatever they are called and in one hour i got three of those wolf shits lmao fuck this. And to add insult to injury if i kill the boss apparently i can't do this anymore. Brilliant idea From, you could kill Sif no problem in the cat covenant in DS1 but here they lock out of your progress. So i guess i can't even wait until i get some item discovery stuff to farm the grass thingies.

You didn't fuck up her quest, you just took one of the two available paths (in my opinion, the most interesting one). It's also not true that the game doesn't give you any indication that you are "doing something wrong". This is the dialogue you get as soon as you give her one of the dark tomes:

"Oh, what's this... Champion of Ash, this Divine Tome is forbidden... These are dark tales that lurk deep within men... These stories would not please you... Of course, if you insist, I will read them for you. Only, ahh, ahh, they frighten me so. The little creatures that nibble at me in the darkness..."

From previous dialogues with her, you know that she constantly sees dark little creatures that bite her flesh, and that she fears them. If you ask her to read teach you a miracle from a tome that evokes images of those same creatures, you are basically asking her to harm herself. The game doesn't alert you with a pop up that explicitly tells you "hey, if you do X then Y will happen", but you still have enough information to avoid the "dark" path of her quest.

Another example is the NPC that allows to respec. If you rank up with her covenant or so much put on the covenant thing you gonna ruin a quest line with another NPC, and i only know that because i read her wiki while i was searching on how to respec. I don't understand the logic behind this.
She explicitly tells you that Rosaria's Fingers are her sworn enemies:

"Mm, I have not thanked you, for your generous rescue. That Dark Spirit was one of Rosaria's Fingers. Vile bastard offspring who lurk in the darkness. My sworn enemies. Fearsome invaders, to say the least. I would not have made it alone. You have my deepest gratitude."

Once you join Rosaria's covenant, you too become her sworn enemy. However, depending on the order in which you explore the areas, you might find Rosaria before having the chance to get this dialogue line.

So i guess i can't even wait until i get some item discovery stuff to farm the grass thingies.
Wait until you find out the retarded way you get the Symbol of Avarice in this game.

Is it even possible to stumble upon her without guides?
Once you reach the roof of the cathedral with the knights, if you explore the area and look around thoroughly, it's almost impossible to miss the platform you have to drop to, especially because the area has no "reward" and you clearly can't go upward, so you will naturally look downward for a way forward.

Well I skipped it. ALso the knights in heavy armor standing on roof slabs look silly as fuck.

Yeah but you can't back out at that point, so it's a pointless clue. I didn't get any option to "insist", i gave her the book, she gave me that line, and that was that.

The problem is that i only saw her after i had done with the Cathedral of the Deep lmao.

BTW, 5 grass thingies lmao. I give up.

Moreover, "ruining" Sirris' questline isn't too big a deal. Without spoiling anything, the rewards for seeing her story through are meager.

Wait, how do you get it? I thought it was randomized and that any mimic killed had a chance of dropping it.

Yes, but it's questionable to say the least. The only visual cue (well, for me) was Patches inexplicably warping to the other side of a bridge he himself sabotaged. I ran around for an embarrassingly long time trying to find a way to his location. Luckily, Rosaria is literally in the next room.

Yes, you can. Just don't buy any dark miracle from her: you will see her other "branch", and you will get your dark tomes back.

Each mimic has a chance of dropping it (and that's perfectly fine), but you also get one after you killed every mimic in the base game (probably you get it only if you never got the random drop, I'm not sure). What's messed up is that it doesn't spawn where you killed your last mimic, instead it spawns in a random mimic location anywhere in the game world.

How does that work if you killed all the mimics?
When you kill your last mimic, a Symbol of Avarice spawns in a random mimic spot anywhere in the game world. Since all mimics are already dead, you will find it as an item on the ground. It's frustrating because you have no way of knowing where the item spawned, and you have to manually check every single spot in the game.

Don't stuff disappear if you log out?
If you log out and reload the game after killing the last mimic without picking up the guaranteed Symbol of Avarice, the item disappears and re-spawns at another random location. This means that, once you have killed all the mimics, you can quit and reload until the item spawns in front of you.

People all over the internet say that this is fake, but I've witnessed it myself multiple times. However, it's still easier to just spam Undead Hunter Charms on a mimic until it drops it.

On the internet, writing shit posts.
I'm happy to report that the Bass Cannon is still alive and well, although not as broken as its DS1 incarnation.
I'm using a Chaos Zweihander on my pyromancer and its pretty good. I wanted to use a Demon Axe, but it was too heavy for my build. Oh sure, it dealt really good damage, but it meant that I pretty much had to wear either Fire Keeper's garb or lighter and no shield. And that's no fun.
Chaos Zweihander is lighter, can be one handed (so less micromanaging between casting spells and pressing the two hand button) and doesn't deal that much less damage (like 60 less, which for its weight and requirements is pretty good), still staggers like a boss and I can have a shield to deal with those fucking dogs and knife spazzes.

That's incredible. Even worse considering that the mid-late areas of this game are lousy with mimics.

Wow, the Catacombs and the level after that are pretty shit. This game so far felt much more polished than DS2, the jank is definitely gone and i thought the level design was pretty good so far but here they fucked it up. Just the same room copy pasted over and over, and it's hilarious that it is related to Izalith since that was clearly unfinished shit in DS1. They just can't get this area right lmao.

On the up site, i just popped out of it and the area that's next seems pretty stunning visually.

Yeah, Irithyll of the Boreal Valley is amazing and very creative in many ways (also it is the most popular for PVP).

Look carefully at the statues while in Church.

That's good because after upgrading my weapon to +6 i got one summon in three hours. With that said, so far i have 13 of those concord things so it's not really bad. It feels like i'm progressing naturally, winning a concord every now and then which is how i always imagined those covenants should progress, making obtaining a rank feel meaningful.

Too bad killing the Abyss watchers locks you out of the Wolf covenant. I got 11 of those grass things after two hours of farming, but i hate doing that, also because it screws up my rule of trying to level slowly and only use the souls i win naturally at the game. I ended up blowing all the souls on the stores because i don't want to end like in DS2 where i finished the game at SL200. I heard farming for concords is even worse and i'm glad i've been able to obtain so many with PvP alone.

I gone there just after the endgame and still get brutally skullfucked, so...GITGUD lol, it is not a friendly place. Painted World is also very active for friendly Phantoms (see Chapel of Ariandel campfire), while Ringed City is swarmed with hostile ones (Inner Wall campfire).

That's good because after upgrading my weapon to +6 i got one summon in three hours.

You need the small arena just after the Pontific Sullivan. Its the semi-official PVP hub of the community.

Usually I go there around level 80, but you can go through it a lot sooner if you invest everything in your damage stats and know how to avoid damage.

Well, one on hand i'm curious if i can do it, but on the other i don't want to over level and ruin the challenge on the "regular" content, so i'll wait i guess.
