I don't care about the story but hearing that the gameplay is even more robust than DS2 is a great thing.
I'm all for the story. I wish some studio could merge Dark souls or Bloodborne with Planescape: Torment

It's downright baffling how much the last 4 games are in this one. There are entire areas that seem to be straight lifted from each game. It's like a major nostalgia trip.

Because this is the last souls game

I get the sense from watching these streams that the game has been cobbled together in a rushed manner. I mean the level art is gorgeous and all, but the enemy placements seems sloppy with too much emphasize on gang banging rather than tactical and environmental challenge.

Very short development time so this is expected to a degree. Hopefully the DLC's will provide more substance and hopefully they're done with Bloodborne content so they can focus on it.

The enemy density is actually rather refreshing and tends to thin out as the challenge level of the individual enemy increases.

Many enemies promote situational awareness, the need for retreat, and the overall feeling that you're travelling through a dead kingdom, making good use of the BB engine tech.

It doesn't hurt that most common enemies have little poise and can be stunlocked to death.

There's actually a clever inversion of the usual desire of DS games to destroy everything in your path where

in a certain graveyard there are endlessly respawning, slow-moving enemies that should just be avoided

That being said, I fucking hate some of the common enemies and one in particular

that reminds me of that shitty worm boss in RE5

Kinda want to preorder this, but im still affraid doing so before demoing this, im forced to stick with a nearly 4 year old laptop, SotfS runs maxed without any problems but from what i heard this runs on Bloodborne engine, that is more demanding than old one

I don't expect much from this game. This jelly pink blood already makes me womit, ombat is fast like in Dragon Ball ir Star Wars - seems like they want even the very youngest audience to play it. Basically, I doubt they have some sort of idea what they are doing - rehash sounds, rehash characters - even same old NPC appears (they tried to introduce new characters in DS2 and that was a disaster). Of course they will put "praise the sun" somewhere, so that even the dumbest could have some fun praising the sun and posting it on the internet.

What shocked me the most is that Miyazaki said he did not liked Dark Souls 2, yet he left all the flaws in his next game  Multiple covenants? Level reallocation again? Really?

Sure, DS entry every year isn't the worst thing, those games are pretty good compared to annual ubisoft crap or anything else. Copies sold - sky high, reviews - sky high, but it feels like true fans of the series are going to feel the shit in their mouth after playing it.

:takemyjewgold:

Fast combat a la Bloodborne instead of that slow-as-molasses shit from Dark Souls 2, many covenants to choose from, stat reallocation so that I change my stats when the inevitable balance patch ruins my build, and characters from the old games? Sounds great.

Characters from the old games sounds good, since I have put into DS1 near 800 hours. I'm not talking about DS2 - everything it does, it does wrong. I just don't understand why they don't want to comeback to DS1 style, since it was just perfect. Why all this fast Star Wars crap

DS1 wasn't perfect, stop it . Believe it or not, bloodborne and Scholar of the first sin do things better than DS1. There were many covenants in DS1 anyway.

Congrats, you don't even know shit. DS2>DS1 is a total absurd and it's so wrong on so many levels. Just don't reply...

Better gameplay overall that suits multiple playstyles. It's a good thing that you can at least use a much greater variety of weapons and crazy builds while weapons that were treated as secondary in DS1 (Pyromancies, bows and crossbows) can now be used to greater effect.

Ok, base game has poor level design but the dlc has better level design than a lot of DS1. There was no bed of chaos or anything of that sort. Let's be serious here the dlcs also had more creative level design than a lot of levels in DS1.

Circle strafing backstab is not as useful as it was in DS1.
Bosses in the dlc are better than a lot of the ones in DS1 too.
Parrying is also not an easy thing too.

I prefer the openness of the beginning of DS2 to that of DS1.

The greater number of factions and bonfire ascetics allow you to make the game more difficult if you please.

There is a bigger focus on NG+ content that increases replayability.

Thats not what he said though...

And hes right. While DS2 was inferior in some pretty important parts of gamedesign, some did actually improve.

Agreed that DS2 did a few things wrong, but overall they're overshadowed by the legitimate gameplay improvements they made to the game, which have already been mentioned. Also agree that the DLC levels and bosses really are some of their best level design I've seen (that I know of since I didn't play Demon's or Bloodborne though), rivaling or beating DS1.

When you people said that many elements from the Souls series had been recycled, I did not believe it would be taken to such extreme (watch out for spoilers).

Such as the endgame being pretty much the same thing all over again, with
the final boss being the charred remains of Gwyn and/or the Chosen Undead from DS1 or even both. The endings are identical as well.

I kind of feel somewhat the DS trilogy is like Star Wars Trilogy

DS 2 is the empire strikes back, better mechanicaly but worse in the 'universe' feel than the first one.

DS 3 will be return of the jedi, all the great things put together and even more ( but what will be the ewoks? )
