Dark Souls (and everything it influences) Sucks

Action games had had dodging for a long time now, and often times in the form of rolling. DMC1, MH, God of War and derivatives, etc had rolling in some form of another. Some with more i-frames other less so. It is wrong to blame Souls for what has been an staple mechanic of action games for a long while, particularly japanese action games, and even some other genres.

The real influences are the stamina bars (which existed on other games but Souls popularize) and the death mechanics. They are not bad by themselves, if implemented well (for example, Souls themselves and Nioh) but other times they are added just because souls did (Wukong, skills already have Mana and Cooldowns, having stamina also to balance them is just overkill and doesn't quite fit the premise of the game)

Speaking about rolling mechanics, I really recommend to try Dicey Dungeons. It may look like something an average codexer would hate, but the game mechanics there are impeccable, lots of rolling

And there it is. Elden Ring sold a lot, therefore, Souls is now shit.
And there you go, spinning my words again.
He's not. You're such a disingenuous little bitch it's unreal. I mean when luj1 who plays Morrowind and maybe Diablo 2 666 times in a row and only ever that tells everything else is shit is one thing but you yourself post how you play stuff like Fallout 4 and then at the same time have the audacity calling others shit-eaters? That's fucking rich.

Then again, there're codexers here who actually gave up on the current game industry and play only old stuff like Wizardry and maybe some indies like from Styg/VD or nothing at all and calling out goyslop 24x7 instead of touching it but not you who revels in it but then condemns others for doing that. I guess the "he played a game for 300h in order to tell how shit it was" meme was after you. Very prestigious, much respect.

Look everyone, the Oblivion remake is going to be a Souls-like, too!

I couldn't make this shit up if I tried.
Didn't read that shit you posted, but you're saying it's going to be better?!?! Very cool. An Oblivion without garbage level scaling, terrible combat, abysmal art direction, meaningful equipment progression, decent combat mechanics and actual challenge sounds like a huge improvement over the original. Cheers, guys!

Great rebuttal, as usual. I was hesitant to feed this garbage thread, but the bait was too good.
You couldn't help yourself because you're a Soulscuck who can't help but seethe when you see someone trash your favorite game. The agitation hidden beneath your words is palpable.

Ah yes, by approaching it with humor. That illustrates how much I'm seething. While you, on the other hand, blast the forums with your vitriol in every avenue you're afforded. You are seething, and the impact of the butt-hurt nuke is visible from outer space. Take a step back, go for a hike, enjoy life. Stop wasting your time here whining about things you don't like and think others shouldn't like either.
