Sorry to break it to you but this thread is going to be around for a long time. After all the Dark Souls fanboys are done seething and coping and the dust settles, this will be the go-to thread on Codex for discussing how overrated these games are.
You smash everything, the game is already difficult so the things you need to smash look shitty to encourage you to smash them without hesitation. Not everyone are oogabooga, even in game they struggle to destroy the beauty.And by extension, everything that is 'Soulslike' sucks too.
Every time I look into a new game that falls under this description it ends up looking like the most uninspired, soulless shit I've ever seen. It's almost like if a game is to qualify it needs to be devoid of anything good and be a soulless husk of an experience for the player.
These games are just ugly throughout. And I don't just mean graphically - I mean artistically as well. Just look at this shit. Is this an inside joke? Why does everything in these games look so shitty?

Yes, it's one of the few soulslikes that take the Dark Souls formula and apply it to a different core gameplay mechanic, as opposed to most soulslike that are just blatant rip0offs, like Lies of Poo blatantly ripping off Bloodborne without even trying to do anything new or interesting.

There's more melancholy to be found walking around an abandoned Minecraft server. The ruins you find there had actual purpose once upon a time because players actually lived there and left behind true stories from a bygone era. The old places you find in Dark Souls by comparison are FAKE AND GAY and their history only exists in your head.
