Those of you who played the leak, how well did it run? I forget which thread was discussing it at the moment. Hoping I won't need to upgrade my aging 9600gt since my cpu has always picked up the slack.

I am very surprised to see such a wide anticipation for this game here. It's enough to make me even more skeptical about the end product.

Not going near this game until I see some proper Codex impressions post-release.

The high level of anticipation is due to the press preview build leak. Most of us have already played the first third of the game.

It *almost* seems like the Developer actually listened to the Deus Ex Community and actually played the original, and picked some elements of what did make that a good cRPG hybrid. Granted they still have to stick to the fucking shit "mass accessible" shit all devs are are required from from publishers.

It is possible they might have pulled off somewhat of a ............. decent Deus Ex game. But I'll still wait.

In before Skyway....

I remain unconvinced. Waiting for skyway's comprehensive review as usual.

It ran flawlessly on my GTX260, but then again the leak was locked on like the lowest possible graphics settings. That said, even then it looked very good so.

I had some issues at first, but it was nothing a few tweaks couldn't fix. The huge culprit was mouse acceleration. Game ran like a slideshow with it on, but once turned off it was smooth as silk. There was some graphical glitching here and there, but I chalked it up to being unoptimized code.

I would pre-order, but some gargantuan faggot somewhere got a hold of my debit card number and tried to gets mah moneys. Bank put the card on lockdown, but now I'm still waiting for the replacement.

I will buy it, not day one, not gonna pre-order buy I'll buy it.
Also won't bother with not removing the dlcs from the inventory. Explosives? Please. Silenced sniper rifle? Like they'll even know I was there anyway,

Already happened. I doubt he'll play the full game, it's not like they're going to change the cover system/health regen/quest compass/enemy radar/green camera cones/crouch stealth/AI/minigames/takedowns/barrels in the full version.

You have something on your mind, Drag-O? :smug:

I watched some previews and the game looks suspiciously like Mass Effect 2 in terms of game mechanics. The cover system, how the character shoots, how he moves, etc.

I can't help but wonder if it's just gonna be a Mass Effect 2 with cyber-punk textures.

Well if it's like ME I'll be pretty pissed off, as there is no variety in any approach to a mission, but I mentioned AP because in spite of its limitations it actually does allow, even in it's tiny maps; a degree of latitude in how you reach your goal at times, lethal/non-lethal approaches, substantially different weapons further changing gameplay etc. What they should have taken as inspiration is at least Splinter Cell Chaos Theory or even Double Agent. Of course, DX1 would be the logical choice to follow, but I know that in this day and age that's asking for too much.

Even for Thi4f the most I'm really hoping for is that they follow T: DS. Asking for Thief 1 and 2 is asking too much.

Bearing in mind that the leak only had low-res textures, I could run it on max settings and 40+ FPS on my 9600GT in 1920x1200

Also, I preordered after playing and re-playing the leaked demo. Regular version, I don't need no cheat gunz.

Compromises are the root of all evil

Oh indeed, but I have no influence on the design of this game or ability to stop a total turd if that's what it will be(likely), so all I'm left with is the hope that it won't be raped too terribly as Fallout was with FO3 for example. Seeing Garrett as an Assassins Creed monkey climber with the ability to duck behind cover and pop moles with his bow and 'cool' takedown moves would be just too much to bear, and what has been released and imprinted onto my brain cannot be unexperienced.

The one thing that is keeping me from pre-ordering the CE is the DLC shit.
I suppose they're try to milk the the game with lots of DLCs and I'm not really into keep feeding them my money.
CDP released TW2 with no DRM and free DLCs => I bought the premium edition some weeks ago (for 20 or 30 £).
New Vegas keeps releasing DLCs and I'm still waiting/hoping for a "collection pack" to be released before I play the game. I may as well be left empty handed.

I'm also unsure of the Steam DRM. I don't even own a steam account
Steam magnets!? How do they fucking work?

What to do?
Choices... and their fucking consequences...

mmm... might as well buy the CE, leave it sealed, and play the pirated version.
If a GOTY comes out with all the DLCs included I'll buy it and sell the CE.

Does anyone want a copy of Deus Ex on Steam? I received a giftable copy after preordering the Augmented Edition.

Holy fuck that's EXTREME! Shepard shot that politician dude being held hostage by Thane's son, but he was a total dick, so Shepard had carte blanche to shoot him. Here, it's just some poor lady, so if you kill her, you know you're EXTREME.

Seems like it's one of those silly effects when you hit people.
