We live in dark times when "this will be okay at best" is considered a statement of edginess.

Dunno if you noticed, but I am almost as sceptical as you when it comes to DX:HR. This however:

is so sharp in its herp-derp that it gleams. And before you throw the Obs-fanboy strawman my way, I detest half of the games they made.

I agree with you in some of the criticism, but other points I find irrelevant. Like the interactive environment (I never gave a fuck about being able to pick up everything in Deus Ex - that has nothing to do with what made Deus Ex a great game. It's a feature mostly lauded by the guys over at TESF.).

Basically, what Jimbob said.

But it's true. Its combat, stealth, social aspects, and technical competency beat everything Obsidian's ever done to date. And HR has been receiving far too much dick riding in multiple threads, it's embarrassing.

I strongly disagree, I believe it would be a far lesser game without those aspects and you remind me of those old Ultima 8 apologist jerks. "Who cares about baking bread? LARP shit, get it out, I want awesome Super Mario Action!"

You'd think that ten years later we'd get games that come even closer to becoming a Star Trek holodeck-esque experience but no and the "lol who cares i just want to kill things and talk to virtual people and pretend they're my friends" attitude makes me annoyed, so annoyed.

I don't care about picking up soda cans, ash trays and cigarette packs. I really, really don't. Don't know if I can say it any more clearly.

But Grunker, without that how could you be an asshole to your superiors for the first few missions? Throwing things at Manderlay was what made Deus Ex a good game. I even dragged every piece of furniture I could find into his office in one playthrough.

This is the key to understanding the Codex.

It does have relevance. I hate a game where the only things I can interact with are the #QuestItems and #McGuffins. It doesn't make DX great, but its absence is sorely missed. [pronoun confusion due to drinking]

In the end I don't care about picking shit up either. But you know how often I've wished I could have some environ interaction in games like these? Every time. It's nice to know there's some underlying detail there.

Picking shit up was awesome when it was unique. Now I couldn't care less. I don't even think I noticed Oblivion had a grab button until I was like 50 hours in.

I do like physics and moving objects for ragdolls though. Nothing better than a shotgun to the stomach of an NPC and watching as he topples onto a table, throwing dishes and such everywhere. ENTERTAINMENT.

But will it have in-game advetisement?

I'm a bit worried by the fact that there has been no info on the issue since this one aussie reviewer talked about it.
Seriously, in-game advertisement would be the real no-go for me. I'm refusing to support such shit in my full-price games.

It's funny because you still can use items like crates and shit to lure guards in. But apparently some people were amazed how revolutionary "pick up that can" was.
