Have to ask - Has thought been put into the fact that it's a defiled, desanctified place and that such placement of anything meant to be considering, y'know, a precious treasure being floored and dirtied is kind of the entire point?

Guess the book looks somewhat like the Quran. Though, it does also look like 'Generic Book 54' as well, but eh.

Well that's good. Now that Andhaira has found a website he can post it, they can keep him and DU can just keep him banned forever.

Everybody wins!

Yeah thats why Fox news is Fox news, some news stories base their stuff on facts, others just "assume" and feed it to the masses as news and the masses slurp it up ;)

Well, technically I said "this is probably a crime punishable by death", clearly indicating that I wasn't sure about it. I don't think interpreting this as "feeding it to the masses as a fact" seems reasonable. I hope you are privy to the nuances of human language with you being a muslim and all. But youa re right, the least I could have done was fact-checking my assumption with a local mosque bigwig as for which of the barbarian practices of punishment you muslims like to employ so dearly would apply in this case - if at all.

Im not a scholar

Ahaha. Scholars. Are these guys serious? Scholars.

Eh, must be a good hobby for some people, sitting around all day and thinking about what are they "allowed" to do and what not and then interpret it so it fits their needs.

Muslims, Christians, Hippies, all the same crap.

What did Andharia do to desevre a ban? did he advertise some sort of gay child porn? (no surprises there, he definately sounds like a guy who would enjoy such a thing)

I already gave my extensive thoughts on this on GameBanshee. The short form of it is that Blizzard are creating a videogame aimed at a mass audience for the sole purpose of making money. Their depiction of the Quran is not an artistic statement and cannot be defended as such. Regardless of any personal opinions about Islam or Muslims, the fact is that it is not in Blizzard's best interests to alienate a large portion of their market. The West generally has a poor understanding of Islam and Muslim culture, and so it's generally fairly common to act in a way that demeans it unintentionally; however, now that the error has been exposed, there is no justifiable reason to not remove the reference without actively contradicting Blizzard's own business goals and significantly damaging customer relations.

This would be like if jews would demand that Nintendo remove Mario's moustache, because for them it would resemble of a moustache of long departed feuhrer, and that their hearts are bleeding seeing a man with a moustache, jumping on goompas, which they would interpret as being a portrait of themselves, and as some post WW2 proganda or whatever zaniness they would come up with.

Or rather people should stop bending over for retarded zealots. Maybe then they'd slowly disappear instead of getting stronger and stronger.

Btw, the cross offends me for reasons I don't want to share. Please remove it from any works in existence. THX.

No. You must be special Wyrmy.

I like this muslimgamer, he could handle himself well here. But y'know my problem with this whole absolute respect and tolerance deal is that, it sounds nice in theory, but in the end there's always going to be at least one person or group that decides what is and what is not respectful. Which negates the whole concept of respect in the first place. What is it with peoples' obsession with never having their beliefs or ideas challenged? Always wanting to be fucking comforted and preference to forcing others to change their natures and be accommodating.

This is probably where I make the disclaimer that I'm referring to nobody in specific so no particular group of people get pissy.

To get things straight; he wants to remove some texture in a computergame because it REMINDS him of the Quram? He can defend his opinion as much as he wants, it's just silly.

As silly as making a whole news post about one guys request and then laughing at all 1.5 billion muslims because of it?

Well, and I know you people aren't much for free speech and though, I suppose muslim gamer's request is probably punishable by imprisonment where you are. But forgive him, he might be American and we don't, you know, throw people in jail for saying things here.

Hi! The article is from my site so i decided to don my flame suit on and im now ready to take your abuse and answer questions :)

The only request i have is that you read the article before asking something.

Thanks.

OH! A MUSLIM CAN WE KEEP HIM?! PLZ PPLZ PLZ!

AAAANYwhoo.

This is complete nonsense, the arabesque decor has never been used on the Qruan alone, nor by arabs alone since the 15 century.

To decide that it must be the quran is just plain silly, its like looking for sexual innuendos in my little pony FIM, and then decide that it was intentional.

Anyway....the art style is over a 1000 years old...it has spread, and when texture artist searches for motifs and syles to use when trying to recreate old tomes, they were BOUND to find this style.

You are looking at correalations and patterns that doesent exist, kinda like finding holy mary in a piece of toast.

As posters before me said - DEAL WITH IT. Muslims getting butthurt about everything connected to their religion is another sign of global degeneration. Believe in SCIENCE, not "gods" that don't give a flying fuck about you! This world sucks, human race deserves nothing but annihilation. We should leave this planet to worthwile creatures like rats or roaches. Fuck it all!

Oh for fuck's sake, this thread. DU, this guy posted 21 times in this thread, that should count as spam, right? Hopefully.

Oh wait it's a 25 posts-on-first-day rule, right? Almost there.

muslimgamer defended his his points p. well versus the strawman/troll hordes. If he's Andhaira he's gotten a serious upgrade.
The reason he only got strawmen and troll hordes is because his initial position was so retarded that that's the only rational response. Yeah a book that fell on the floor vaguely resembles the Quran. I'm sure if other groups look closely enough they can find things resembling the Bible, Torah, or whatever the fuck that is sacred to them. It's absurd for Blizzard and every other company to constantly change things to avoid offending anyone, especially if the people being offended are irrational. The onus isn't on them to edit the vague reference because some people were offended. The onus is on muslimgamer and whoever else may be offended to fucking deal with it, or, if they are too deeply offended, just not play the game. And that's all I'm going to say on this; it's insulting that I even felt the need to type that - although I guess I only have myself to blame. Well, I'm not gonna waste anymore time on it.

Also, i think you are being really irresponsible in trying to make a row out of this.
I think most western muslims probably wouldnt give a shit, but there are plenty of shitty third-world religious demagogues that grab at anything to use for their own political gain.

Do the scrolls in the game look like the Torah? We better remove scrolls. I hope that none of the books have a plain black cover because I have seen some bibles that look that way, so they better only be on bookshelves, or better yet, on a shrine covered in the holy light of jesus jizz.

Do ALL Qurans look the same? There aren't different styles of covers for the book? That is just strange.

But, to repeat sea's point, if the offended Muslims don't play the game, then Blizzard may not get nearly enough money to build their golden monument to Mammon!

This.

If Blizzard doesn't replace the texture, Diablo 3 will probably be banned in India. The new Fallout games haven't been released here for one reason: the two-headed cattle called 'brahmin'. Seriously, religious dudes, can't you leave anything be? Must all existence bend over backwards for you? (Sorry, rhetorical/stupid question)
