I feel like they could have included more than 5 areas in the starting game, especially since two of them (Kejistan and Dry Steppes) are kind of similar. What happened to Kurast?

No, I think it's south of the desert/swamp, there looks like a land area there that isn't accessible in the game. Kurast was also filled with a dense jungle and Mesoamerican-style pyramids, it was my favorite area in D2.

According to the lore, the jungle around Kurast got devastated by some sickness, and it's no longer a lush green area. Also, the reason why the jungle was so dense and, more or less, consuming the city in D2 is because of Mephisto's demonic influence. It wasn't like that originally.

Does this game has Zimbabwe level number inflation in end game? Because I prefer smaller numbers; in Slash'em, a roguelike based in nethack, a ice mage, using cone of cold, a spell so powerful that can freeze magma dish (XL/2 + 1)d6 damage or at lv cap(30), 16d6 or 52 average damage and 96 maximum damage. 3 digit damage in the game is incredible. And I find ridiculous so many ARPG's with damages in 6+ digits.

The numbers can get very high at high levels, but thankfully you can turn the damage numbers off in the game's options. And you should, because having them on clutters the screen way too much in a game like this.

Not at first, but it gets there. Level one starts with single digits, but doesn't stay there long. I saw some really obscene numbers on builds stacking crit damage.
The skill system uses a % of base weapon damage to calculate attacks so it sorta needs to get to double or triple digits before the differences start looking meaningful.

I just got to act 6 for the first time and the story with the Tree of Whispers reminded me of Torment's Pillar of Skulls.
Also, it's the first time I've seen 3D graphics looking better then rendered Pillars of Eternity backgrounds. Too bad we don't have branching story and quests.

Diablo 4 needs a lot more than 2 months of work, so I doubt it. They probably released it then to make shareholders happy or some other deadline, who knows. I think what continues to happen in Blizzard is that game good design and theoretical max profits don't gel and they always choose the max profits route.
