Kalypso Media have announced that Disciples: Liberation, the strategy RPG revival of the Disciples series by Frima Studio, will be launching on October 21st. Here's a brief teaser trailer they put together for the occasion:

Coinciding with this announcement, several websites have published previews of Liberation based on its closed beta build. There's a good amount of information here about combat mechanics, character development, base building elements and faction-based choice & consequence, with a particular focus on the game's protagonist, the mercenary Avyanna. The Niche Gamer and RPGamer previews are particularly detailed.

The game seems pretty feature-packed if nothing else, but I wonder how many people will be paying attention with all the RPGs that are launching in September.

-Watches trailer-

Is that haircut really gonna be THE badass female default haircut of the 2020s? Thought it was V from Cyberpunk for a second.

Sidecuts/undercuts went into and fell out of fashion in the early 10s, I don't know why they're popping up again other than nerds just being a decade out of touch.

Bad haircuts aside, this doesn't look as awful as I thought when the first teaser came out. The companion roster looks a bit generic, with the asian mobile game-esque fantasy art we've come to expect.

This seems pretty interesting, a slightly more meatier King's Bounty from what I can tell.

...That isn't, to my knowledge, what Disciples is supposed to be but there are worse things you can do to a franchise.

All my Spidey senses are tingling that this game is complete and utter garbage. But, as most people, here have written... best judge after it's out. I can't shake the feeling this is a cash-grab though.

Honestly that's one thing where I can sort of give them a pass, trying to cash grab this dead franchise is so unlikely to succeed it's actually kind of funny. But I suppose tossing a brand name that maybe nets you a few dozen extra sales is better than having no brand name at all.

I guess it depends on the segment.
AAA devs works so much they don't have real-life references beside women working with them. And fashion magazines are full of plastic and silicone.
Indie and AA have more time to go outside but they either don't or stick to their own and they somehow looks like C77 NPCs without augumentations.

Highfather was an asshole, no wonder the one top servant fell and became the big bad evil. Maybe if highfather paid better attention to the other assholes that fucked up Bethrezen's efforts in the beginning there wouldn't have been issue... or a game series. Well, ok... still HF you suck.

""""
Long ago, before evil sundered even the heavens, the Highfather looked upon the beauty of the angel Bethrezen and granted him the divine right to create the world, which was to be called Nevendaar. And Bethrezen did. His world was magnificent, and its inhabitants wanted for nothing. But rancor grew among the lesser angels who, in a pique of jealousy and rage, sowed disharmony and ill-will among the hitherto peaceful tribes of Nevendaar.

When the Highfather looked down upon Nevendaar, he was aghast. Where was the harmony that Bethrezen had promised? Where were the endless green pastures? The Highfather saw only suffering and strife; the green pastures were scorched black by ceaseless wars. Nevendaar was to be the Highfather’s pride and joy, but Bethrezen had betrayed him. ?????. The Highfather’s fury shook the heavens. Bethrezen would be punished…"""

Pull your head out of yer Arse and punish those other fucking angels Not Bethrezen you stupid fucktard.

or maybe that's the length between the concept art being drawn at the start of the development and the game being released

Cast hair of steel and you can bludgeon people to a bloody pulp like a living morningstar.

I envy people who can have haircuts... i lost almost all my hair in junior high due to stress. But, I can grow a beard in zero flat. I reserve hobo-time for late fall to winter. Then I go all baldy dark sun. I tried the bald V-clown monk hair but it takes too damn long so out comes the razor.

Anyway, why does this feel more rpg and NOT just tactical wargame? Again, I'll wait until DLC-bloat and reviews are thick to read.

Do I even have Disciples III?

Eh, steam only though I could buy a physical copy of Disciples III GOLD. Reincarnation is steam key only. That's gay. Anyone notice a huge difference between gold & Reincarnation? Assuming anyone bothered with either.
