Fucking Tim Schafer is supposed to impress me?
Good point, because in the last 90 pages nothing about this game has been surreal, self-conscious, artistic or joyously overcomplicated. It is too convoluted and try-hard. It seems the type of gibberish a person would write under the influence.
Why is he sucking off an invisible man
Disco Elysium is looking to be something utterly special, it’s an RPG that actually uses the R for once. You’re playing a role, and you define that role through your interactions with the world and yourself. The start of the game which was playable at Rezzed was astounding, and easily was something that an hour or more could be sunk into without noticing. It’s one to keep your eye on, and it’s coming later in 2018.
Well to be fair that one has produced a fair bit of butthurt so it is valid.Eurogamer has a mention. Eurogamer!

Disco Elysium (formerly No Truce with the Furies) is a semi-futuristic/fantasy alternate-world neo-noir RPG about ideas and about solving crimes. It’s a game where your character’s mind is as important as your character’s actions, it’s a game where your character’s perception of events is called into question throughout, and it’s a game that feels fresh and exciting in a way that RPGs haven’t for a while.
While waiting for a station to free up at the Disco Elysium booth I got chatting to one of the developers. Shortly into our conversation, he compared the game to a cross between classic RPG title Baldur’s Gate and the gritty detective TV show True Detective. At first, well, I was a little confused about what he meant, not to mention the fact that I thought it was a very bold statement. However, although it was a bold statement it was also a true statement, Disco Elysium is one of the most unique games I’ve ever played.
Previously known as No Truce with the Furies, Disco Elysium begins with an argument between the player and your character's reptilian brain about whether to wake up or die in your sleep. I'm honestly not sure what to add, other than that this game very much isn't a) the gamboling nostalgia fest the title might lead you to expect, or b) your average spin on "golden age" CRPGs like Baldur's Gate and Fallout.
YOU can whisper ANYTHING into my earsNo, the game itself does notBut if I’m there hovering over you shoulder while you’re playing I’ll definitely whisper it in your ear every few minutes.
