But... will there be an option to disable VO EXCEPT for the most important scenes... such as the dreams? Huh? Huh? I thought not.

I didn't think the voiceacting in Disco Elysium was all that great, and varied quite a lot in quality. For example, Kuno's acting is pretty legendary and gave a lot of (annoying) character to him. But I thought the two old bickering men (forgot their names) were pretty horrible. Titus wasn't particularly well-acted either I thought. I guess most of the others are alright.

Not a change I'm very excited about.

I *hope* that the new quests and content fit in well with the rest of the game. They've set a high bar for themselves and it'd be a real shame if the content somehow felt worse or tacked on since it will slow into the actual game. I would've preferred to see something completely new from these guys. But... if they can reach the same heights as with the original content, then it'll be quite awesome of course.

Apparently even the skills are voiced! Wonder if they got 24 different actors? Maybe one per attribute?

holy shit
this can either be really good or really bad

Bad no, It Is still more content. Maybe It would be just like adding "Slobodan a coal miners Village aligned with NCR" in New Vegas since Disco Elysium has other issues but It won't harm.

A bad voice actor can destroy a character completely. Scenes that should be touching, exciting, or convey ideas/emotions such as anger, anguish, fear or anxiety can fall flat. And it's not just a matter of bad acting either, the acting can even change the character itself a lot. The way he talks, the intonation, the type of accent and several other details bring new information about the character that go far beyond what he is saying - how he says something also defines him, and therefore, even in cases where the performance isn't bad per se it may not be appropriate for the character.

Voice acting can undoubtedly break a game irreparably if it is of poor quality. That said, having the option to turn it off, you still have at least the chance to escape the problem.

According to a friend involved with ZA/UM, there will be a 'Classic Mode' for VO which disables all voiced lines besides greetings and the most important lines.

Ah ok I agree but weren't characters already voiced in at least 10% of their lines?

Damn, i loved this game as a fan of CRPG's, but the ending was such a letdown to me. Wonder if this final cut will fix some of it.

Grab the Codex by the pussy Pathfinder: Wrath
The new voice acting is a fantastic waste of capital. They have decided to take their game full of evocative text and imagery and change it as to leave nothing to the imagination. Their effort will leave them with an inferior creation.

They clearly care A LOT about their game, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Usually I despise full VO, but I trust them not to add to the game something that would ruin it.

Imagine Disco with hex-based RTWP combat.

Imagine preferring RTwP to TB. Literally subhuman
Imagine being a butthurt old fuck that can't keep up with other people and gets angry at them for that....

what happened to you man, you got seduced by decline big time.

I enjoy all kind RPG and prefer to spend my time playing than to bitch about who is liking what kind of combat system.

So literally the opposite of the daily existence on the Codex, which is not playing anything and aggressively debating everything.
