Voice acting? Really? Can we have a great game with a LOT of text without voice acting?

We had lots of problems with updating the GOG versions when Dragon Commander released which is why we didn't go for it this time on the retail discs. In the run up to release every minute counts for us (literally) and we want to avoid digital distribution logistics misery as much as possible. We really don't have any other interest in Steam activation. If we had hidden motives (whatever they might be), then we wouldn't be putting DRM free versions on GOG & not deactivate copy protection on Steam.
We're not looking for a war with our backers & understand that for some of you DRM free means never having to go online. For those that absolutely want it (and who backed us on Kickstarter) - we're thinking of doing a second print run which will contain the game + the last updates available at the time of the print-run. It's but a thought at this point because we're unsure if that's what you really want, but if indeed that's what you & others are looking for, then we'll organise it. We'd of course still send out the Regular and Collector's Editions once they arrive in our office.
I tried to post something long and witty but i don't really give a shit about it.
So people 21 days !
The patching on gog is a bit of a weak point. There a some games that lack feature parity when compared to their steam versions. The newest version of I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream uses Scummvm, gog version still uses dosbox which is glitchier. I recently bought Postal 2 from the gog sale, and discovered that it is way behind the steam version in feature parity. Just a few examples. The games tend to be updated at some point, but it can take a while. I wonder if the new GoG Galaxy client makes any changes for easier patching process..Manual patching is apparently terrible.
I think you read that wrong.Wait ... everyone has access to a DRM-free version and people are bitching about DRM? Am I reading that right?
No. You will not be able to play from your "DRM-free" dvd without Steam activation. You need Steam to patch, not to install the dvd version if I'm understanding this right. Anyway, it's a proven fact that Larian are bros so you have a right to whine if you want but attacking them for this after every explanation is stupid.

Then why buy a physical copy at all if you are only doing it for a code?I think you read that wrong.Wait ... everyone has access to a DRM-free version and people are bitching about DRM? Am I reading that right?
Not entirely because the CE box comes with a GOG key for the game.
The accoutrements. Then why buy a physical copy at all if you are only doing it for a code?

What is the difference between a digital purchase and having the game delivered at home in a box?
When you buy the game digitally, you can start playing immediately after downloading the installation files. If you order the game in a box, you do not need to download anything, but it can take a few days before the game arrives at your shipping address.
I addressed the point you are making in the brackets. It's fucking retarded already, but at least don't go with the worse option of using the goddamn Steam. It's not ok to sell the beta as a finished product and I never bought any of this beta or early access shit games, I'm just waiting for the complete release.Just release the godadmn game and if the disc is full of shitty bugged mess
See, this is the problem. Since when did it become acceptable to knowingly sell a "shitty bugged mess" on disc with the possibility that somebody will play it? Is it now okay to sell a beta as a finished product in stores just to satisfy an irrelevant minority of DRM-phobes and box nostalgists?
If you want to be mad at something, be mad at Larian for not delaying their game. Not for doing their best to ensure that people who buy their game in a store actually get a fucking finished game.
So I did read it right. Everybody gets the game DRM-free. Not a single person has to go on Steam unless they choose to. They're mad because they don't get to install the version of their choice using the procedure of their choice. I mean, Jesus Christ. Not entirely because the CE box comes with a GOG key for the game.I think you read that wrong.Wait ... everyone has access to a DRM-free version and people are bitching about DRM? Am I reading that right?
Edited for relevance. Physical boxes are a neato retro trophy nowadays, nothing more. I like beads and trinkets as much as the next guy, but all of the complainers have a freaking internet connection. Even with a slow service, they'll be able to d/l the whole thing before their physical box ships from freaking Belgium. Why buy a physical copy at allif you are only doing it for a code?
1) Physical buyers do have a gog option. It's simple. Offer physical version buyers the ability to request a Gog gift, or just gift them automatically.
DRM or no, Steam "encumbers" the game. Do the right thing Larian.
Honestly, why the fuck are WoW aesthetics everywhere, they are absolutely shit and one of the reasons i disliked that piece of shit. It's pretty unfortunate that Larian decided to take inspiration from World of Warcraft when it came to designing the male avatars. Females are nice, but I'd rather use Wasteland 2's anorexia simulator then whatever retarded Popeye looking thing I've got now.
