TB is :0/5::0/5::0/5: if he doesn't post that fucking video soon :x

I know I screwed up with that old TB vid earlier, but I'm positive that this news might probably be true:
Someone on the D:OS Kickstarter chat reposted a Twitter announcement by TB that the vid will be up tomorrow.
It seems he wants to do it right, not half-assed and that takes him some more time.

Might be good actually, Larian gets some fresh covering tomorrow, which might produce a more steady influx of new backers.

IIRC the old games were turn-based only due hardware limitations is a quote from a cRPG Developer.
On that video interview, with Jake from new XCOM and Julian Gollop from the old XCOM, Sessler said the exact same thing, getting some really sad glances from Jake and Jullian...

As LeStryfe79 said, Sessler is far more destructive.

It'd have been perfectly understandable if Julian had tore out Sessler's throat after such a blasphemous statement.

Angry Joe is ok actually. I mean, I don't follow him since most of the games that he covers isn't stuff that I usually play, but he doesn't strike me as a despicable person. Yeah, he's a popamoler but I get the feeling that he's an honest popamoler who actually enjoys playing the games he likes (regardless of the quality of the said games). There are far, far worse people out there, such as the dorito guy who is an obvious shill and 'only in it for the money' as it were.

I have to say I closed the video when he said something to the effect of "that was badass...I was usin' the elementz". It's cool that he likes Larian and he seems to be genuinely enthusiastic about gaming, but I'm not a fan of his dudebro demeanor.

There's also One Moderately Funny Gamer/Jesse Cox.
After the first few seconds I wanted to close it again, but actually it gets better later on and you get the impression that he liked the game a lot.
Seems to have been suffering from crashes, though.

As awesome as the $1mil stretch goal sounds, it adds an outer layer of ambition that seems too great for the additional $200k. Also, I'm fearful of being tagged a storyfag, but the 800k goal sounds like incline to me.

What is the official Codexian opinion on these matters?

Jesse Cox was a little annoying in the beginning, but it really did get better. For some reason I find him less irritating than Angry Joe.

we all know what we think of angry joe, but watching the combat scenario shown in that video made me very happy.

Congratulations!

We've been keeping an eye on our paypal counter today, and together with the Kickstarter total, it looks like stretch goal 2 was just unlocked!!!

Personality traits & talents are now confirmed, and it'll come as no surprise that we're extremely happy that we can add the traits & talents gameplay system to Divinity: Original Sin. It wouldn't have been the RPG we wanted to make without them, and we're very grateful that you made this possible.

To celebrate, here's a video showing how we'll go about including traits and talents. To be specific, it's a video about a prototype for the trait curiosity and the sixth sense talent, and while the actual implementation may vary, it should give you a good idea of how it'll improve the gameplay and bring more depth to character customization.

It's going to be awesome!

New Stretch Goal Announced

So many people were touched by Kirill's magical performance that we wanted to do something special. Therefore, without affecting any of the other stretch goals, we'd like to give Kirill something he's also wanted i.e. a live orchestra for him to fool around with and record the game music with.

stretchgoalsplus.jpg

So, at 700K, there is now a stretch goal that unlocks a live orchestra for this man:

You want this. You really want this. It seriously will be awesome!

The Next Stretch Goals

Obviously with a stretch goal unlocked, it follows that we start looking at what the next stretch goal is going to be.
At 666K already, we'll reach a new secret stretch goal in which we'll lift a tiny bit of the veil that covers a well-kept secret.

Don't expect big announcements, but do expect some of the lore surrounding this particular secret to be released. You can also expect more on THE HINT.

At 700K, there's of course our newly announced stretch goal, in which Kirill gets an orchestra, and then at 800K, there's a very big one: Henchmen become companions.

While our henchmen will have more background than what you've seen in the gameplay videos so far, upon unlocking the 800K stretch goal full blown companions will be unlocked, featuring complex storylines and adding gameplay to our gameworld. This is a pretty important stretch goal, so we'll soon do an update to illustrate exactly what it is we want to achieve.

Stay tuned!

In Closing

I don't know, but for some reason I now have to link to this. It may have something to do with the above picture. Listen to it. Because...

Those Talent's and Traits MASSIVE INCLINE!

And holy fuck yes! Secret areas are actually secret. You have to actively look for them.

Seems like traits and stuff stretchgoal is unavoidable at this point, a shame it won't reach day/night cycle tier. Would prefer it to henchmen becoming companions, since I probably won't use any of them anyway.

I'm not worried about it at this stage. It's a Pre-Alpha and this is Larian. If it was BioWare there would be a huge fucking quest compass mark and a gigantic ! marking the spot for the player to target and "discover" the secret area.

From what I understood that only happens if you have the talent.

Yeah, but I think it works pretty great just as they shown us in this video. No need for hints in minimap too, would prefer those textual hints coming up as a surprise as you enter on your own particular rooms, via exploration, not because you got there because according to map, there might be something. So, stay pre-alpha in this case. :D

44 minutes - I like when they go into the house, close the door, kill the guy and the guards outside don't react because they haven't got psychic powers like in Oblivion.

I think either Swen or somebody else has mentioned that the amount of scripting and animations that would come with the day/night cycle and NPC schedules makes this stretch goal too expensive to be put anywhere else than $1M. :sadfrog:
