They should have gone to town with the "this is the Dark Souls of FPS games" shtick and rip off Dark Souls story style and tone right off. It would have still been retarded but much more bearable than this. Just generic dark fantasy your brain would have put on ignore automatically. But you can't forget about your character saying shit like huge guts. Rip and tear was already stretching it enough as it is.

Is this game Vulkan by default? Didn't see any option to change render. Game performs great on all kind of hardware.

Coincidentally Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 for the PC had Doomguy and Motorhead on the soundtrack.
Tony Hawk in Doom when?

Haha, I actually thought a long time ago that "The Game" song from Motorhead would be perfect for a Trailer.

There is also an easter egg where the UAC announcer says "Lemmy is GOD"

Nah, this game isn't doing it for me. I find myself more frustrated playing it than having fun. If it isn't a combat encounter that forces you into doing something it's struggling to progress through a level that is essentially a corridor, but has some obtuse trick you need to navigate it, whether it's platforming and you don't know where the fuck to jump to or punching a block that's hidden away. Too many head-scratching moments and just not enough reward at all, imo. I wouldn't mind even all that if it at least looked jaw droppingly beautiful but it's just alright on the graphics front as well. Expected more from ID in 2020...

It is. The performance is better than 2016 for me.

The performance is great, though you can tell playing it that it was designed for 60fps on old consoles. Texture quality is iffy, the TAA is strong, the backgrounds are often very flat looking. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally on board with 100+fps in a new release on mid-range gear, but it's not a miracle. You can tell how they did it.

You can change the difficulty without starting over. The level select menu also shows your most recent difficulty for each level.

Apparently you can't save in Ultra-Nightmare and the game simply deletes your save if you can't do it all in one sitting. wtf. Especially considering in my playthrough I was stuck multiple times that required reloads to clear being locked out of areas.

When I beat the game, do I have to start a clean playthrough of nightmare or can I jump into it with all my unlocks?
You can change difficulty mid-game from the settings menu and replay whatever.

Maybe read what it does next time you pick it.

This time there's a lives mode you can use which ought to make ultra-nightmare easier, but i'm not going to try it myself since i suck at iron man modes. Too many times i start navel gazing about some unrelated shit when i'm playing games i'd never make it very far.

Maybe it's because i don't play many AAA games but i don't see any issue with the graphics. For a game like this performance is paramount anyway. Maybe i'll try Metro Exodus next. That's supposed to have super uber graphics, right?

Find anybody that plays Doom in third person and proceed to report them to your nearest Ministry of Love.

To be clear I don't have an issue either. Especially now that I'm used to high framerates, and never being a graphics whore, I love that it's well optimized. It's the opposite of Control, which you can't run at high framerate to save your life. I'm just saying it's not a big mystery, you can tell where they designed it around higher framerates on older machines. It's not trying to be Crysis like Control is.

It's the lighting that makes it actually look worse than Doom 2016. Though it still looks fine and I'm glad it runs as well as it does even in busiest fights. And improved enemy gibs are nice.

It's 5:30 AM and I'm wondering why the Doom Hunter enemy needs a wheelchair if it can fly around anyways.
