*shitty GUI, shitty art direction, patronizing posts*

Yo, dawg, Imma letchoo finish...

...naw, just kidding. But seriously, alienating your targeted demographic (i.e. "us") is probably not the smartest thing for members of your development team to be doing at this stage. So far Double Bear hasn't given me a single fucking reason to pledge a single fucking dollar. In fact with every post you make and every image shown I'm less and less interested. I'd work on that. And I'd work on being less of a cunt and realizing that while, yes, many of us can be cunts too...WE are not trying to sell YOU anything.

Really, Brain, you can call me a 'moderate' if you want but I actually have still hopes for your Zombie game, and I'd probably pledge as long as you convince VD to shut the fuck up. It is ruining your game as he did for AoD. Nothing against VD per se, he looks like he is living in his own reality and does not understand what some people are trying to say (albeit the way Codexian speak their minds is hard to focus on the message and not feeling buthurted). The more people associate your game with AoD, the less support you will have.
And please, please, never reply to a critism with lines as "it would take a lot of work", especially if you really using Kickstarter. Just plan well your budget and hire people to do the work. A half-brained game based on a brilliant idea is still a half-brained game (magical teleportation, anyone?)
Keep up the good work.

Thanks VD. Keep up the good work. I am about to 'magically teleport' myself to the next room using clever dialogues and a couple of skill checks... I hope this works, or I would have to re-roll my personality...

Ah, yes, the teleporting.... I didn't realize that RPGs were all about walking. My next game will be a hiking simulator.

Excellent. Where do I preorder? (Must be Fallout inspired, to repair the damage of AoD.)

Well, lucky for you, there are plenty of games where your character doesn't die no matter what.

A walking simulator? Wonderful, count me in... Can I lose weight using it? Seriously, though, I have played many, many RPGs (counting sequels and add-on, of course... way too many to admit) and call me stupid but I like to walk from a place to another. Or run. And I can even accept that I can walk to a place where there is a caravan or a boat or a teleport or whatever else you want.

But that is not even remotely the main problem. I actually think AoD could still be a good game. As the zombie game can be. The main problem is the attitude toward criticism of some among you (and you are the leader in this). I get it, often Codexians are MASSIVE pricks, myself included, althought I consider myself a 'moderate'. But when you come here and use a vague sentence after the other to describe a game, that is so fucking wrong. This is not a website about politics. If you are kind enough to come here and explain the games to us pricks, be kind enough to answer the damn questions (as Brain usually does). Your quote on the game being a 'survival game' is priceless. It almost killed my interest in the game in a single sentence. Likely for me (not for you or Brain or anybody else; if I lurk around here and some other sites is to discover good games in a time in which we are inundated by Skyretarded & Co.) Brian showed up and asnwered the damn questions later.

In conclusion, my good Sir, you might be the most talented game designers who ever graced Earth, but your posts are not helping your cause, nor Brain's. Just my opinion, feel free to ignore it.

Fair enough.

We were open to criticism from day one. Every feature of the game has been discussed and criticized to death and the criticism helped us shape the game into what it is today (ironically). We spent the last 4 weeks tweaking the demo based on the criticism and suggestions. We do listen to people, however, let's not confuse constructive criticism with whining and entitlement.

Some people believe that only their opinions matter and their experience with the game is the only possible experience. There are a lot of people who like the way the game is designed. They are our core audience. It would be silly if we started changing everything, trying to listen to everyone and please everyone, would it not?

Take you, for example. You didn't like teleporting because you like walking in games. I get it. Unfortunately, you don't get my position. There are reasons why the game is designed a certain way and there are long discussions, internal and external, behind every decision. Do you really expect me to agree with the first person who says "I didn't like it! Change it now!"

I made it very clear that I'm not involved with Dead State AT ALL. I've offered my private opinion and explained what it's based on. Why make a big deal out of it?

Then why discuss this at all? If you already know everyting, won't change anything, a simple handout would have done.

Reading comprehension failure?

In other words, just because I dismiss retarded opinions doesn't mean that I think that know everything or that I won't change anything or that I'm not interested in constructive discussions.

I don't really mind, doesn't really seem like something worth getting worked up about (like the school theme for Dead State's GUI). It was just too hard to pass up the opportunity.

not that it will stop me from pirating your shitty game and playing it seven times out of spite for how shitty it is:x

I wasn't trying to alienate anyone, just trying to explain the reason for some decisions. Maybe I shouldn't have tried to disarm people with the "I just wanted to let you all know that you suck and are stupid." comment. I didn't think people would take that so personally, especially on the codex.

Like I said before, I have no issues with people criticizing my work. I don't know everything or claim to know everything, so if someone suggests something that would improve the UI or anything else that I do, then I'll make the changes. It's as simple as that.

And I'd work on being less of a cunt and realizing that while, yes, many of us can be cunts too...WE are not trying to sell YOU anything.
I didn't think that by working on a project I'd have abide by some type of developer forum etiquette. I thought that I'd be a bro talking with fellow bros about bro stuff, like it's always been.

Well, there was the suggestion to keep everything together instead of having it spread out all over the place. I'm fine with the portraits separated to the left but is there a reason the noise-meter is there as well? How about those buttons in the bottom right corner?

As for graphic style.. why does it have to have a theme? And such a defined one? It's a bad idea, I think, especially if the game doesn't completely revolve around that theme. Why not something abstract? It doesn't need to be flashy or scream "LOOK AT ME I HAVE A VERY SPECIFIC THEME" in your face. Take Fallout's interface for example. Sure, it had corroded metal... but that would've worked for plenty of games (including yours). It didn't have radiation signs or whatever shit thrown in randomly.

Also, for fuck's sake, make it so you can't click behind the interface.

Edit: Actually, maybe the corroded metal wouldn't work that well for your game. The whole game looks way too clean for that. I don't know, it looks more like a game about a nice life in school than about a zombie apocalypse.
So yeah, I guess that for the way the game presents itself at the moment, the interface is good.

In before "not everything has to be dirty" retards.

Oh, yeah, and the JA2 interface. Abstract and very laid back. Worked perfectly well.
