Maybe I'm a cynic but they would have been better off to show nothing in their case probably. Just have a video that says "I'm Brian Mitsoda, and I worked at Troika and Obsidian. I'm going to make a cool game that's what YOU guys want. Man it'll be cool. This is my wife, isn't she cute? She likes cool stuff, too!" then fade to black. Set the goal for 300k then wait for your million, as long as the reward tiers offer enough fan service they'll probably get it.

Look, I had the exact same thought. They could have made 2x the money with such tricks. But that would just be the dishonest crap which other developers are doing, and I guess it will do those people a lot of harm in the long run. With Dead State I can see clearly what kind of game it will be, and if they accept less money for a community that is really behind the game, it shows a type of character that I salute. Meaning that making the game is more important to them than only money.

Butthurt detected.

The GUI is sloppy and amateurish in appearance. In comparison even to the GUI that Surf_Solar has
shown screenshots of for "What Remains?" it just looks sloppy. It is unrefined, the screen real estate
is poor used and cluttered. They have image icons on a set background which clash, for example
the icon and description on the index cards which is superimposed, it just doesn't look right.

As for the ingame screenshot, the GUI has undefined edges, the icons don't sit comfortably on the
boxes, it isn't a fully visually integrated GUI. If Surf Solar has been able to refine his, then this can
go a long way.

The Fallout GUI fit the aesthetic feel of the game, this GUI clashes with the theme of Dead State.

But anyway, sure, congratulations Jaesun. Criticism is now trolling, have you considered some DING DONG
BANNU at Bioware Social?

I haven't really gotten in on Dead State discussion before but I hope the combat system is designed well enough to support melee builds. I think it'd be pretty damn hard to pull off for a zombie-themed turn based game because of the horde of zombies you always see in movies would look kinda doofy if they're just going one at time. Best of luck to them because I really like the idea.

But to stay on the subject, the UI looks pretty clean and as long as all the information is there and I can read/it find it easily I don't usually care how it's presented.

Yes. The images shown were the UI as it will be at release. Got ya.

Criticism is unacceptable because they'll change them, but we don't know
how or if they will change them so don't criticise them because they'll know
if the GUI needs refinement organically if we all tell them it looks wonderful
and please show us Annie Mitsoda's tits instead.

DING DONG FAGGU.

Looks good but too clean. And prosper was right; there should be more contrast e.g. between fontcolors and background (at least I think that is what he meant...)

Otherwise it looks like progress. I might throw in 15$/30$ into kickstart. And this would be the last project I back up before other projects aren't released (W2 and Shadowrun).

I actually like that the interface is somewhat unique looking and doesn't take up too much of the screen. I guess I'd have to play the game a bit to really get a sense of it. Brian and Annie working with the AoD team is also a plus, since we've seen what they've been able to do. I'll definitely pledge when this starts.

No bro, what about Xenonauts or Obsidians kickstarter? :( They deserve your money, at least 15$...

I want zombie apocalypse gunporn, where I know filling zombies with lead will get me in trouble, but I still blast the head off of a zombie with a shotgun looted from the police station. :smug:

I think anyone who likes tactical turn based games should pledge at least twenty dollars here.

Except it remains to be seen whether it will be a tactical game or an adventure game with management aspects. A game where there is no room for crouching or lying down... I don't know. Plus, the stats look overly simplistic. Diablo in Turn-Based?

Unique looking? It's basically AoD interface which is basically Fallout interface. I'm very disappointed. I was expecting something more similar to JA2 vanilla (I acknowledge that expecting 1.13 goodness might be a bit too much) but now I'm worried that it will be a zombie mod for AoD.

Brian Fargo has my trust with his overall presentation that he can deliver a game. And he's my benchmark if kickstarter can deliver successful games.

Shadowrun came out of nowhere and it's just to intriguing to get a tb shadowrun rpg. I mean it's cyberpunk. With dragons! And it's a damn fine pen & paper rpg. And when the creator of the p&p rpg is fully involved in the game my hopes are high it gets a faithful adaption.

Dead State is already in development and we can already have a good design direction how they want to make the game. And the concept is very intriguing for me. And I'm not a zombie fan in general.

But for further projects I want some results first to be honest. If I donate to every game that sounds somehow interesting I will end up spending a lot and on more games than I can play anyway. And there will be some stinkers inside i'm sure.

Well, ok about Obsidian I don't know anything and it probably won't be soon, but Xenonauts? They have a lot to show... http://www.xenonauts.com/

Maybe you dislike it though?

Mostly everything is there for the very basic game. Everyone has two hands, there is End Turn and APs. No crouching & lying down is a bit of a boner breaker of course.

Are you sure about that? What about those arrow icons on the lower left side? There's the up pointing arrow for stand, a down pointing one for crouch, and a down pointing one with a line representing the ground for prone.

Or at least that's what I hope they are going to be...:M

Currently, you can't crouch, go prone, or sidestep and cover is mostly about staying out of the lines of sight. Most of these options would only benefit long-range weapon users, which would a small percentage of builds. We'd also have to spend time teaching friendly and enemy AI to deal with it, not to mention do additional into/out of animations for hits or grapples to prone/crouching enemies. It just wasn't worth the time, especially since we wanted to balance the game for melee/ranged rather than tailor the game to styles of ranged combat. The zombies tend to keep people moving, which is another reason we don't have a lot of options to dig in and fight.

Dunno. Looks like a xcom clone and I haven't even played the original. Plus I heard here most xcom clones suck. The chances are this will suck, too. At least compared to the original. Could be interesting but it's something I would look at when it's released.

For an improved Starflight remake on the other hand...

yeah, I was going to say move the end turn button to the right as the human eye drifts from the upper left to the lower right, there's a reason why that button is always placed there

here is my mod of phantasmal's already rad UI mockup

I also think the school looks very good, better than I need at least
no strong opinions on the gameplay shot graphics but it sort of looks like they haven't decided on gritty or cartoonish in that one, probably just the oversharpened road texture

Like General Maxson just said. Xenonauts is the most advanced game coming to kickstarter. But Dead State appears the one closest to Fallout / Jagged Alliance.

I personally prefer the original version. Must be an issue with brain hemispheres.
