because they're weak-willed pussies too afraid to say the enjoyed something others didn't.

That would apply to games with some redeemable features, one way or the other. Dragon Age 2 is just complete shit. To go through that shit more than once? actually *finishing* the game already takes some serious brain issues but doing that multiple times? there are just too many games out there that are worth playing that you don't have the time to complete why would you spend that on DA2? only someone unemployed could have enough time to do multiple playthrough of ALL the decent (I didn't even say good) games and yet have the time to also play the utter shit like DA2. There are so many games where you could spend hundreds of hours just doing multiple playthroughs, or sandboxes like X3 where just building a decent fleet takes about that much and you'd waste time on DA2?

The only thing that could justify touching DA2 more than the couple hours necessary to realize and judge on your own whether it's any good or not is if you've already played every single decent game out there, and you probably didn't (unless you're living off the state welfare or something).

I think I read somewhere there's fine print that you can't buy a game, play it all day long, then return it. It's mainly a system set up for people who buy shit and then can't run it or actually think it's unplayable shit... In other words not people like Codexers who play a game for 100 hours and then say it's unplayable shit.

:codexisfor:
How can you know it's shit until you've played it 7 times?

You write that like I was the one who said he played DA2 a bunch of times. I wasn't. I played it through once, said it was pretty shitty.

It's because the truth of the matter is that there is a wide, wide gap between "amazing" and "irredeemable shit" but the Codex cannot into gradient enjoyment scales. You're supposed to either love a game or hate a game according to many here, and many people play follow-the-leader with that because they're weak-willed pussies too afraid to say the enjoyed something others didn't.

Well yeah, most games fit that category (in-between classics and utter shit). It's just that I think it's more interesting to elaborate on why someone played a lot/enjoys a certain game he maybe overall perceives as mediocre rather than saying I played it 10 times and concluded it's irredeemable shit. For example I can fully recognize that VTM: Redemption is an overall very flawed game with subpar combat system, often times cringy dialogue, idiotic companion AI, too linear Diablo like dungeon design etc. but I still enjoy that game very much due to its art direction, atmosphere, setting, music, character advancement system and have replayed it several times since it came out.

IDragon Age 2 is legitimately a pretty shitty game, though. I still finished it because *shock* I love RPGs and even "bad" ones are worth playing most of the time. I'll play Dragon Age Inquisition hoping it's a better game and get what RPG enjoyment I can out of it. What I won't do is play it 100 hours and pretend I hated every moment of it.

Yeah, can certainly get that. Even a below average game of my prefered genre is ultimately more enjoyable and worth a playthrough than a possibly great game of some other genre I simply don't enjoy. It's not like there's an abundant of party based RTWP RPGs on the market anyway.

That said, I never understood Codexers who play the game 5 times all the while whining how it's irredeemable shit, I can't decide whether they're masochists or just hypocrites. I mean I'm a serial replayer, if I like the game I'll play it to death but If I'm not enjoying it I'll drop it and uninstall it right away (don't see the point in torturing myself).

Well dragon 2 had nice idea at the start with its rags-to-riches story in the beginning, even if it's very flawed game.
I mean rising from street gutters to local aristocracy sounds awesome to me, because every other rpg had save the city/nation/world as its theme...

Unfortunately it tried to be too dark and emotional and that resulted in hilariously bad moments in the game...And not the funny ones.

Well then BG1 is a case of diarrhea and DA2 a case of hemorrhoids. Are you still going to say there's a winner?

Hells to the yeahs. BG1 is, BY FAR, BIO's worst RPG. iT'S 7/10 at best. I can't believe I loved the game when I first played - probably b/c it was the only decent DnD game out at that time. It's the last linkage to the one dimensional (but fun) GB era where DnD CRPGs were nothing more than combat/dungeon simulators. Fun but not deep.

Bio's worst rpg is a 7/10 really? DA2 is one of the few AAA games I'd feel safe giving a note under 5/10. And these notes are usually reserved for games that are completely broken/don't work (like X:Rebirth).

I wouldn't do that even to Oblivion.

"I wouldn't do that even to Oblivion."

All ES games are under 5.

"Bio's worst rpg is a 7/10 really?"

Not counting expansions or games I didn't play.
