The majority of buyers out there are the casual masses, and when the chips are down and Bioware has to choose between appealing to casuals and appealing to the SJW's, they'll pick the ones who'll actually buy the games over the ones who'll boycott them anyway for being abeist by not allowing the player to make a protagonist with down syndrome.

It's the reason why at the end of the day developers like Rockstar and Activision could not give any less of a shit even if they tried about people like Anita and the Tumblr crowd: when it comes to the tens of millions of people who're more than happy to buy their games, the SJW crowd barely even registers as a blip on their radar.

If that was the case, there wouldn't be such idiocy in the world as wymyn quotas or shit like that.
It's the dedicated people who rule these things; and unfortunately, SJW's are mostly very dedicated.
As for your example: those casual masses you mentioned aren't aware of anything; and if they are, it's twisted shit they heared, like "gays are so discriminated against 'cause only 3 in 7 chars are gay". So, while not really caring about anything at all, the casual masses of course don't want to be discriminating against anyone. Therefore if they should side, they usually side with the SJWs. Or at least they don't mind their standards implement in the game.
That's why Bioware is more afraid of SJW's than of the masses. If it's not even worse: some of them are probably SJWs themselves.

The problem for Tumblr creating for game that it actually requires skills and thoughts.

Aveline, the tomboy chick, was actually one of the few somewhat decent characters in DA2 -- no dark tragic background, no real 'quirks', and her dialogue wasn't a constant stream of witty one-liners. Isabela, the pirate chick, was p. fucking awful, though. The whole pirate thing could've made for a decent character, maybe make her into a seasoned smuggler, a kind of Han Solo, but no, they instead decided to make her act like a stereotypical sailor... who happened to be a female! Take that, preconceived gender notions! So, like literally 80% of her fucking dialogue was about sex in some form. Somehow you can get the feeling that all the main npcs the writers are writing are basically self-insert of theirs.
Basically, they are writing what they would do if they got awesome abilities in a fantasy world where their parents don't live in.

Which is the worst writing method in making any good characters or writing any good story.
Hilariously, their fan fiction style of writing is even worse than some of the stories I remember reading in fanfiction.net
