If you make all the characters like that you'll be condemned for not making the colored characters "beautiful". If you make them "beautiful" you will be accused of using white-values of beauty.

You can't win. You're designed to lose. These tumblr people sit on their thrones because you give them the power to. Stop paying attention to them and they become powerless; a leader without followers. They are always right because they don't adhere to any kind of logic or system. For example, when it comes to sexuality, tumblr people just make up shit whenever they need a soapbox. * is a character which means "anything goes here", so when people talk about "trans*" people, it means there's no actual definition of what these people are. They can be transhuman or transfat for all we know. This is how race, 'ableist', etc. analyses are made -- by a rule of thumb which is made up by the author one day, then disregarded the next. Anita Sarkeesian is just the same -- she wants women in video games, but she can never pin down what kind of woman is acceptable. She can't be pretty, because that's sexist, but she can't be a man, because she's a woman! Then what is a woman Anita? She sure as hell doesn't know.

Characters should be themselves. The end! Writers should endeavor to write diverse casts where that diversity adds to the story, but there's nothing wrong with writing about a homogeneous group. I wouldn't expect to find a black man in a real inquisition, those were carried out by elite white clergy. Not that DA3 is actually an inquisition -- they're just using that word to make the game seem like it's going to go places, but it's clearly standard BioWare-faire. Basically, an inquisitor is like a Jedi or an N7, someone who can do whatever the fuck they want to because that's the only way BioWare knows how to write.

The Dragon Age wiki describe her as "Orlesian" but those are supposed to be white. I'm guessing she'll probably be descended from foreigners; the series has usually been consistent about this stuff.
