The trailer wasnt bad, but does this represent the game?
Was it dark™, heroic® and epic©? There is your answer then.

I'm not an avid reader of Fangoria or devotee of Marliyn Manson, but I actually liked the video a lot (which is clearly aimed at the T-for consoleTard crowd). I still think there's going to be a cool game in there behind all the blood fountains.

Watching heads roll in TW was titillating, and I suspect that sort of thing will be cool here also.

What Bioware needs to stop fucking doing, though, is spoiling the goddamn plot with their trailers.

This one shows us that Morrigan is definitley the sexy-time love interest who perhaps dies in some sort of self-sacrifice. Moreover it reveals that Loghain is indeed a traitor to the King, and you apparently behead him after your victory (and Cailan's death) at the battle of Ostragar.

That stuff alone, I'll wager, spoils the first several hours of major gameplay.

Bioware needs to chill with that shit.

So? That's like knowing Taris will be destroyed in KotoR 1, or that Imoen gets captured in BG2.

This trailer is pretty good. It shows that real-time rendered "shit" is at a point where it can actually compete with traditional movie-making techniques. And even if Dragon Age won't be anything special, Bioware will probably release a set of easy to use tools with which users will similar or even better movies. How many people could afford constructing filming sets? How many people could afford hiring actors? Stop bitching and enjoy the opportunities that this fine product, from the visionaries from Bioware, has created.

It's like learning who Saren is and what happened at Eden Prime in a trailer for ME.

VD needs to make a trailer like that for AoD. Otherwise it won't sell at all.

While the only thing that will be mature about this game will be its rating I am still looking forward to it. Dark 'n gritty vanilla fantasy sounds like a blast to me. Not terribly original, definitely not high art, but fun.

It's a shame about the RTWP combat, but I don't think it's reasonable to expect turn based combat from a Western RPG these days.

People aren't complaining that there's gore and nudity because of offended sensibilities; they're complaining because this could just as easily have been Trailer for Michael Bay/Jerry Bruckheimer film entitled "Megan Fox's Tits Explode While She Has Sex With Blood-Covered Dragons."

The problem is, the trailer is awful and generic, trying to be edgy to garner attention in an 'extreme' market. Most of us don't play Bioware games to have sex with elves while carrying out pogroms against evil.

all is said.

You seem to forget that if there's anyone to blame for this pathetic excuse for a trailer, it's the marketing department - not Bioware.
They're obviously trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator, how else would you attract the attention of the console crowd?

God that video was juvenile. I hate this new DARK AND EDGY phase we are going through in gaming. It's way too forced.

Odds are that the game's target audience is the same as the marketing's target audience.
I think it's really naive to think that the game's going to be more appealing to us, and that they only make generic videos to gather the mainstream's attention.

EDIT: What's with showing off spoilers half a year before release anyway? It seems that hey target this to people who don't give a shit about story, only hack n slash, looting and whatever. Only problem is that rpg combat nowadays is crap. But hey, the story isn't much better either.

The Megan Fox bit is especially nice.

The funny thing about this video is that everyone saying positive stuff about it was already buying the game. Meanwhile every negative comment on Bioware's own forums is a potential sale lost.

I can't help but think the guy who posted the video has a personal stake in it, as he's the one that whined about people being upset about it.

I liked it. It has sex, gore, dragons... what's not to like in it. Surely over the top but it's still better than trailers that starts liek " In a peaceful magic world, full of fairies and dogooders... " And i don't mind Mansons music. I kinda like his style. Metal and rock is somewhat popular these days in fantasy movies and games trailers.
