DA:O had a larger "pantheon" of demons we never saw that seem to have been forgotten. There were distinctions of Lesser and Greater demons, and one of the codexes said a Greater Pride demon could threaten the continent. We never see a Greater one presumably but in one of the concept arts there's a gigantic Pride demon stomping around a town, so that's probably what they looked like.continent ending threats is an exaggerationPride demons were treated as potential continent ending threats
It feels like they were going that way with Uldred's pride demon considering the destruction it was able to cause, but definitely not the "continent ending threat" written about in the Codex.of the codexes said a Greater Pride demon could threaten the continent
And you fight them a lot. Like, a lot. They are often the "leaders" of trash mobs too.You bargain with many of them, talk, etc. Not exactly random mooks.Desire demons were already random mooks in DA:O, though.
They really aren't that common in DA:O. Demons in general are rare outside of the Circle quest. And you fight them a lot. Like, a lot. Really? I couldn't finish DA:I despite trying many times. Leliana was deeply religious with religion and her faith in Maker were one of the pillars of her character in DA:O.They also made it to where becoming tranquil isn't a very heavy decision that's taken voluntarily to repel demons, but a forced torture to turn people into cheap labor who can still get possessed by demons if they feel like doing it anyway. The Chantry goes from an organization of good, bad, and neutral to having everyone in it either be cartoon villains or, if they're not evil, atheists who hate the rest of it (Leliana in Inquisition) or helpless retards (everyone else). Besides the putrid SJW themes, Inquisition's setting is everyone is evil or dumb but the Qunari and the Dalish, and everything that's ever existed was made by a conclave of shit-for-brained Elf wizards who were also evil or dumb.
Bioware squandered their DA and ME IPs while boasting how they intended to work with their own IPs leaving the Forgotten realms and the Star Wars licences behind.DA:O had a larger "pantheon" of demons we never saw that seem to have been forgotten. Fucking sucks how squandered Dragon Age feels. I'd rather have had that be the big bad instead of a whiny asshole elf wizard and whiny asshole human wizard.
Depravity is the norm in current year. Can't have promiscuity create evil soul-and-dick-sucking demons in the current year. Watching your wife ride the bull in an Orlesian market has to be empowering and accepted.Where did all the titty demons go in the game all about demons invading the world? They weren't exactly rare either since you encounter quite a few of them throughout Origins and Awakening.
DA:O is best taken as its own story and left there.
That it's playable is more than can be said about it or Mass Effect's sequels at least.DA:O is best taken as its own story and left there.
its the only DA game worth playing perhaps
but still vastly inferior to the Renaissance
The Renaissance that gave us utter garbage like PoE? That "Renaissance"?DA:O is best taken as its own story and left there.

Loghain was actually pretty well written.Haven't touched anything beside DAO, it was obvious the tranquil were introduced as mean to make the setting more "grimdark", an obvious evil that is nonetheless necessary given how much of threat demon are. Well, it wasn't tackled very well, but at least give the illusion of nuance and edge. Learning that they retconned it into something so dumb is so lame, that I'm at loss for word.
Cunning evil just shock you a bit and at least make you think if they don't have a point somewhat, shaking people belief or ideology here and there is important to make sure those are actually grounded and not build on sand, but liberal no longer can do that, because they probably realize deep down how frail and insane their belief are.
Nowadays evil is only represented as childish or/and sadistic, and Loghain would just have been some petty dude trying to dethrone his daughter because muh misogyny.
Nah, if pride demons were that bad then the world would have ended multiple times over. The only thing the codex entry for pride demons say in DA:O is that templars shouldn't expect to straight up overpower them in a direct confrontation, even when supported by mages. And, I said potential continent ending threat. Maleficars can summon them, and that's exactly what happened in the Mage's Tower with Uldred, but the demon took over. The only reason it was stopped was due to chosen one PC. If the pride demon was able to finish preparations, easily fight off the Templars, the effect of that could be as destructive as the first blight.
Yeah, Loghain came across to me as a hero driven into villainy due to a combination of trauma, arrogance, and paranoia. A lot of things he did were self-serving but they didn't come across as his actual motivation. He was just that afraid of an Orlesian invasion, so he ended up dooming the country.Loghain was actually pretty well written.
His self righteousness and amoral methods, always sure he was doing the right thing for Ferelden.
It'll be forgotten roughly two months after release even by Infinishill.Considering the length of this thread you'd think this masterpiece has already been released.
It's not even that grimdark or evil of a thing, more of a very pragmatic but voluntary choice. Like the Tranquils you meet say they feel like it gives them peace and it makes them practically invisible to demons, like the one in the Circle Tower who's been hanging around the upper floors where everybody else has been massacred, but he's fine.Haven't touched anything beside DAO, it was obvious the tranquil were introduced as mean to make the setting more "grimdark", an obvious evil that is nonetheless necessary given how much of threat demon are. That was eight years ago man. Plenty of games released since then. The Renaissance that gave us utter garbage like PoE? That "Renaissance"?
