The Chantry teaches us that it is the hubris of men which brought the darkspawn into our world:

No matter their power, their triumphs,
The mage-lords of Bioware were men
And doomed to die.

Then a voice whispered within their hearts,
Shall you surrender your power
To time like Ultima and Wizardry?
You are the Lords of BG and KotOR!
Go forth to claim the empty throne
Of RPG and be gods.

In secret they worked
Magic upon magic
All their awesome buttons and all their dialogue wheels
They turned against the Electronic Arts
Until at last, it gave way.

Above them, a river of money,
Before them the throne of RPG, waiting,
Beneath their feet
The footprints of the Maker,
And all around them echoed a vast
Silence.

But when they took a single step
Toward the empty throne
A great voice cried out
Shaking the very foundations
Of Mass Effect and Dragon Age:

And So is the Golden Incline blackened
With each step you take in my Hall.
Marvel at perfection, for it is fleeting.
You have brought romances to RPGs
And doom upon all the world.

Violently were they cast down,
For no mortal may walk bodily
In the realm of dreams,
Bearing the mark of their Crime:
Andromeda and Anthem so maimed
And distorted that none should see them
And know them for the Bioware of old.

Deep into the earth they fled,
Away from the Light.
In Baldur's Gate 3 they searched
For those who had goaded them on,
Until at last they found their prize,
Their god, their betrayer:
The sleeping dragon She/Them.

Their taint
Twisted even the false-god, and the whisperer
Awoke at last, in pain and horror, and led
Them to wreak havoc upon all the gamers of the world:
The Veilguard.

Fuck, so that thing is from Veilguard then. Quns have been reduced to hydrocephalic children with horns. They no longer look like an ogroid species.

I guess this change makes their faces more kissable, but that didn't stop people from romancing Bull.

It’s the player character in that IGN First Look video that was posted earlier.

Skip to 1:38 in the video.

So I watched this thing a bit more. Environments make absolutely no impression whatsoever, this game is a vacuum - completely devoid of atmosphere. The graphics, especially the water effects, look like 10 year old shit. No, older than that.

Lo and behold, in addition to that, all the NPCs our dumb looking qunari Rook meets are some shade of brown mutt. The warden medic looks like an indian with his long black hair. The female NPC looks too much like Neve, like an indian indian. May this game crash and burn in an epic fashion.

Are people masquerading as if Dragon Age has ever been an exemplary franchise to strive for, and not one game (Origins) with an era-limited novelty of different background starts?

Are we comparing Origins to any other CRPG before and after, including those made by Bioware, and saying that's better by context of not including woke-values?

Quick tip: When you have to preface your argument with 'at least' then said thing you're acting as the defendant for by extension probably isn't very good either.

No.

What is this post even in relation to anyways?

If it's not, then that'd be a statement of arguing political values.

The fuck does that have to do with my underlying question (?), would be my main response.

At least you tried
That's a mighty assumption that I'm trying to argue some internal conflict, which is contradictory to my initial question of what context are these criticisms coming under.

If the complaint is 'it's woke', 'these characters look weird', then surely there's some precedent such as 'this franchise used to be good' or otherwise, refer to my response to the other individual.

We are making fun of modern Bioware, stop searching for the Davinci Code.

I don't get this game at all
On the one hand they're pushing all these horrendous lgbqabc characters and overt romance/sexual themes to bait women and betas, on the other they seem to have made actual fast paced, 3d spacial awareness combat that appeals strictly to hwuite males
Due to the former the latter won't play the game and due to the latter the former won't
Is this game just fucked?

Gameplay is universal, sexual preferences are individualistic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ As for how fucked this game is, very. I doubt it will keep Bioware alive this time, but who knows, maybe a lot of people are into masculine they/them pussy nowadays.

Mainstream journos have been hyping this hard, it could be the Inquisition or Bioshock Infinite situation all over again, enormous hype secures commercial success and short-term avalanche of GOTYs. A few years from now nobody will remember or play it (or remotely consider it a Hall of Fame material) but who cares by then.

Hype's a bubble. People act as if Bioware had produced nothing but flops in the past decade. But a lot of people actually seemed to have liked Inquisition (they also like Helene Fischer music, naturally). If that wouldn't have been a "hit", they'd have it rough now though.

Outside of the DA fanbase, there seems to be little "hype". Not merely in communities. KCD II was close to the top 10 Steam sellers yesterday, and Veilguard is still way down the list, n sandwiched somewhere in between the likes of Tavern Manager Simulator and Roboquest.

Alongside to Avowed, this seems a pretty mid looking game so far. Unlike Avowed though, Veilguard is a Dragon Age sequel. Bioware could print its story on toilet paper -- there'd be fans to horde it.

I can't see it, even with the journo hype. It feels like a damage limitation exercise at the moment, with a small core of LGBT vilers expending every ounce of energy they have to desperately paint any small positive it may have as the best thing ever.

The real beauty of it all is that all the ones who are dishing the likes out to any DA:tVG promo at the mo are the useless, jobless, penniless ones who won't likely buy the game.

Inquisition sold 6 mil units, I'll be surprised if this sells half that.

I wouldn't underestimate the power of mainstream hype in the vast normie herd, especially in the RPG genre.

The fact that the magenta dangerhair zoomer aesthetics led to catastrophic flops in the online shooter market, populated mostly by highly competitive toxic males, doesn't mean it has the same effect elsewhere. Look at BG3, from distance it looks like the gayest RPG ever made, most characters look like a fucking Zoolander, and it sold like cocaine.

The RPG market is just different, you can bet your balls the game will be chock full of social features like romances, dating, weird sex options and other assorted faggotry. Millions of weirdos might temporarily drop their Nintendo controllers and jump into Veilguard.

Due to the lack of major marketing effort else, a German podcast run by a former Gamestar editor even speculated that EA has internally "downgraded" Veilguard already. The game wasn't even present at Gamescom, after all.

Thing is, modern BioWare includes DAO. That game was already a huge disappointment.

Fair points, but I think the Fortnite style graphics are even breaking some sense into the normie cunts. BG3 still looked a bit fantasy, DA:tVG looks Overwatchy and even the Inquisition-loving normies know it...

It certainly wouldn't surprise me if it started to snag some Nintendo fanboys though. It's horrid, garish style should be right up their alley.
