Origins implied that the joinig ritual always comes first before any potential training. They were in a hurry to recruit new candidates because the blight was already underway, but it wouldn't make any sense for the Wardens to waste resources on trainees before the joining ritual, given that many just try to chicken out of it and get themselves killed because of that, or because they don't survive the taint.

Anyone who's played Origins would know this even on an instinctive level. The Grey Wardens are a ruthless group that has to employ ruthless measures to ensure their job gets done. They're ready to kill innocents so that more innocents will live. That's why the joining comes so soon, and once a recruit finds out what's at stake, they can't be allowed to chicken out. If they were, there'd be no more new recruits. This all rests on the shoulders of the existing Wardens keeping their mouths shut, of course, but it's also implied that they share a tight camaraderie. In that way they're like a secret society that operates out in the open.

Haer'Dalis was a tiefling, meaning he was evil masquerading as neutral.

:martini:

He was an NTR character. Not to mention very annoying.

Is there even a point having a bard in your party in Baldurs Gate games?

It's a BG2 @ right? I remember that streamer that played BG2 IM mode, won it with that class that thiefling was - Scald?
In final figth everyone died, but he alone did that.
So that kit is OK

The current Bioware just didn't think anything through, did they.
Doesn't willpower and inner strength also factor into the chance of surviving the Joining?
For example there's the guy who tries to run away when he sees what the Joining is all about and ends up getting stabbed by Duncan, so the guy probably wouldn't have survived either way.
The other one dies by drinking the darkspawn blood.
Only you the PC survive.

So basically women are more sexist than men and Riot wants to cater to their bigotry.
wtf I love women now
No! Fuck women!
Yes, that's part of the plan.
Women suck!
Sure, if you convince them to do it.
Charisma/Persuasion check.
Pff. Cuck.

Strength/Athletics check.

This was the thief guy who acted all bold and confident, but maybe he only had the resolve to drink it because he was the first. I don't recall any mention in the game about the recruits' strength and resolve making a difference, I think it's implied that everyone gets an even chance.

Yep, in Awakening a knight-soldier woman eager to join is the only one who doesn't survive

Dragon Age hasn't been a thing for years. If they were going to change many of the basic lore premises as well as the gameplay, they should've just made a new game. It probably would've made everyone happier, including the mysterious "new audience" they're going after.

It's probably random and goes how the plot requires. Alistair mentioned how the Joining became worse and dangerous during the Blight when only you survive out of three recruits while in his Joining only one died.

No it wouldn't have. Making new woke franchises just results in practically no sales whatsoever because they can't ride on the coat-tails of a known IP.

They know this. It will only work when practically all existing franchises are pozzed.

Why does everyone in this game look so smug?

It's like they had an AI capture the likeness of everyone who buys the most overpriced shit in a Starbucks, and used it to populate their character designer.

They should've just done what they did with ME: Andromeda and keep the big ip attached to the game to raise sales but have it take place in a completely different area of the setting so that old fans can just pretend it doesn't exist.

After 10 years of waiting the remaining fans wanted to get the ending of the Dreadwolf plotline. I doubt going the Andromeda path would do wonders to the fan reception.

Well, I think many of the old fans assume that only Origins exists.

Yes that's true but if they were willing to play veilgaurd they probably were willing to play anything bioware crapped out regardless of if it finished the Deadwolf plotline off or not. They could've just hired someone to write a book to end the Solas stuff and it would've been better written.

And it worked well enough imo, as Duncan was supposed to be a foreigner since IIRC all the grey wardens had been kicked out of the country. This is a kind of 'diversity' I can understand, a global organization recruiting anyone they can no matter their race/class/etc. They were all sent equally to the meat grinder.

Duncan was born in Highever with his mother from Rivain and his father Arryn was from Ferelden.
White in America.
So Italian.
