They didn't pay for denuvo, threw it for free with nvidia deal, demo on game pass. They knew perfectly well what they had on their hands.

Oh Jesus Christ. No, EA, that's not why it failed.
Seems like an admission that they lack the talent to write/craft a good single player game and that shareholders should expect a pivot to live service again.

Wonder what that means for Mass Effect.

The idea that the lack of online elements and monetization doomed DA Veilguard makes no sense to us, but it might actually make sense business wise. Those things would have hurted the sales a bit, but destroyed piracy, and would have allowed exploitation of DA Whales which would could have made the game work better mayhap ? Also take in consideration that the costs of the single player redesign would have been nulled.

But whatever we think of that, this kind of statement tells us what we can expect for Mass Effect 5. Are they going to retrofit it into an Anthem like thing?

I hope so. This industry needs another Anthem, Dustborn and what was that other online hero shooter with the humongous black transsexual ogre with the lollipop and purple afro.

You think those disasters were enough? No. Dragon Age is now officially dead because of DEI. Now Mass Effect needs to be made an example of so that everyone sees what DEI is about and why it needs to be sent back whence it came.

They aren't going to stop unless forced to by external circumstances. Money so far isn't it, these companies can stand to lose a few million as long as it does the demoralization job.

Well, his comments didn’t say anything about live service, that’s just something the person writing the article came up with. My guess would be that no, the next Mass Effect game will definitely not be some live service game in the vein of Anthem. Anthem bombed, they aren’t going to have BioWare do the same thing again but with a name change. They’re definitely not throwing Anthem money at another Anthem level bomb.

I’d expect the next Mass Effect to primarily be what you expect from a Mass Effect game: A single player third person shooter with stat elements and hub areas where you can talk to different characters which can have some effect on missions you’re doing. It’ll probably also have multiplayer like Mass Effect 3 had, which being a third person shooter series isn’t really some crazy inclusion.

I read the CEO's statements as him wanting Dragon Age to be like what Ubisoft is trying to turn Assassin's Creed into, a single player game with live service elements. This is probably why there were talks of a DAO remake after Veilguard, they want people to be playing Dragon Age games regularly. Also why they pushed for Dragon Age to be like Mass Effect, so that content can be pumped out quicker and more efficiently.

Nah, it still does not make sense. Andrew just does not want to take responsibility for a failure.

I'm sure he kept telling Bioware to make a successful game that would make EA money, by making Veilguard more like every other game from the last decade that made money. But did they listen ?

No, absolutely not. They've decided to make a commercial failure, going directly against his advice to not do so.

DA:V is nominated and will surely win a fitting award, by troons for troons. Two confirmed flops(with Dustborn) among nominations.

They also specifically instructed early reviewers not to talk about Taash's personal quest, multiple reviewers have confirmed so at this point, because they knew what kind of a shitstorm it would cause.

They deserved every last thing that was piled onto them.

Meh, a hollow victory at best when people look at other games and say 'its not as bad as Veilguard so it isnt woke'. This game served its purpose in shifting the overton window.

It's funny, if KCD2 was more well-liked on here, there would be a ton of comparisons between the two.

But it isn't, so there aren't.

I'm kinda curious, are there any good troon games? Put aside the "game is bad just because its troon" mentality aside (I agree with you, but just for the sake of the argument). Are there any troon games that are objectively good? People bring up BG3 and Elden Ring, but what else is out there?

Is a "troon game" one that's made by troons, or one that's about troons? In the former case, game dev is infested by troons and every bigger studio is bound to have at least one working there. In the latter case, there are no good troon games, because it always pivots into being a glorified propaganda pamphlet as they seek validation.

ER has body type A/B instead of gender and gay incest is an important plot device.

I think they both probably count. It's hard for troons to not have everything revolve around how they feel about their genitalia, so games made by troons often have overt troony elements.
