Alright, that's enough internet for today.

Pure decline... :0/5:

Even Elden ring (and other from games) feet are better that this.

Setting is(or rather was) ripe for expansion, all the games and all of the backstory so far have been contained to the one specific continent on the southern hemisphere of the world with no information about the rest. But now if the series ever continues, we will unfortunately witness the full extent of Patrick Weekes' mentally ill mind.
The more entries this franchise gets the more I think the universe was inherently limited from the get-go. The conflicts it set up had obvious end points. Caste system of the dwarves ends in abolishing the castes. Tevinter slavery and blood magic ends in abolishing those. Templar vs mages ends with freedom for mages. The whole qunari situation was just a way to show how religious extremism is bad. None of these had nuanced takes, not really, even the qunari problem, so there was nowhere to go from a contemporary perspective.

What it had potential with was the different political factions at play in the world, but none of the writers had any interest in that, preferring to tackle the low-hanging fruits mentioned above or just pitting you against unthinking baddies like the darkspawn.

The games also have an identity crisis. None of them are consistent with the others and there are wild differences between bordering nations that make no sense. Ferelden is literally medieval, while Orlais is in the late Renaissance at worst and Tevinter in the newest entry is almost fantasy cyberpunk.

BioWare squandered both its popular home-brewed IPs by chasing trends and hiring unimaginative writers and narrative designers who don't have any life experience or frames of references outside of modern metropolitan USA and contemporary (American) popular culture. Sad.

OK, I saved Lucanis and this is the limit of what I can take of this slop. My save file says 12 hours, so realistically it's about 8-9 as I did keep it running multiple times while walking my dog or making dinner. Not a meaningless amount of time was spent reading codex entries as well.
I gave it an honest try - and I kinda wish I didn't. Game deleted and cleansed from my system. I would never buy this shit, even for 5€. No wonder it's already being given out for free on so many fronts.

I'm honestly struggling to say anything positive about the game at this point. First of all - it's not an RPG in any way, there's just nothing to role play. You might as well press 1 in every single conversation - it's going to have the same outcome.

I guess the positives would be:
  • The game does look pretty at times, when you're not fighting and there's no purple on screen - but it's kind of an illusion honestly.
  • There's no major frame drops. Whatever fps you get - it tends to stay stable in that region.
  • (for the time I played) The wokeness is not as in your face as I thought it would be, but of course I didn't even get to the tranny during my play time.
    • The only time I saw anything to do with pronouns was during character creation and when placing the mirror on a table in my room. And the mirror option isn't really forced, it's just 1 of 6 options - so not that big of a deal, but why even have it there, why make the only role play option in the whole game - be one about being fucking trans.
  • I guess Solas is decently done - conversations with him where the only ones where I wasn't mashing space as soon as I read the line. The voice acting (for Solas) is good, the story revolving around him is not complete drivel and it does have the ability to keep your attention.
  • The "back" side button on a mouse works for going back in menus, which allows you to keep your hands on WASD comfortably. And yes - I am actively looking for positives at this point.

So concerning the visuals. As I said - the game does look pretty at times, even at lower settings, BUT - the illusion fades once you realize just how much assets are constantly reused. Every single city in the world (and the fade...) has the same fucking wooden box in it. You enter a city - enjoy every single shelve and door copy pasted on every identically looking building. There's just no variety - you're constantly looking at the sama vazes, planks, boxes, etc. You can also disable the UI bloom in a setting files - but it doesn't help that much, since the purple color is like bloom in itself.

The writting is as bad as many people hoped. Sadly it affected even the codex entries. I tried reading every single codex entry at first, but I quickly realized that it's just low effort blog posts. Seriously - some codex entries straight up talk you, like you're reading a fucking cooking recipe online. Other than codex entries, the writing is just bland. Most dialogues are a sentence or two long; everything is always very positive - there's no way to be mean or condescending to anyone.
The biggest issue in my opinion - the blatant fucking insertion of romance at the worst possible times. I didn't subject myself to remembering specific lines, but imagine a dialogue where some chicks brother is missing and she's almost in tears thinking about him - your dialogue options: 1. yes, 2. yes, 3.yes, 4. "you look pretty when you care" (THAT'S A FUCKING ROMANCE OPTION, WORDED LIKE THAT AT A TIME LIKE THIS.) I'm not going to go into detail about the writing anymore, as basically every single conversation or plot point can be nitpicked at endlessly. Basically everything feels stupid, childish and unoriginal. A lot of cliches as well, like a FUCKING ELVEN GOD having some braindead darkspawn cunt carry the most important dagger in the world. Ohh and also the all-powerful lyrium dagger that a god made - well they'll just craft another one, but with RED LYRIUM (cut to black.)
I found myself basically spamming space most of the time, to get through the conversations faster.

The gameplay itself is click Mouse1, block with Mouse2. Parry when blocking at the right time (insanely wide window, even on nightmare.) Every 30-60 seconds you can use abilities from your companions. Most of the time you're just gonna use the same combo of apply weakened/sundered -> detonate weakened/sundered, repeat ad nauseam.
There's essentially 3 builds in the game - a rogue, a fighter and a mage. You can respec freely anytime, as long as you're not in combat. But whatever you respec on a class - it still feels the same. You keep clicking the mouse button and you keep feeling bored.

Eventually, even thought the early game fights go pretty fast, you reach a point where everything is a fucking bullet sponge. Maybe it's some red skull mechanic as someone mentioned, but holy shit it just completely sucks the life out of an already lifeless game.

Enemy design? Copy, paste, paste, paste, paste. Ohh and there's fucking rock monsters with flamethrowers and rifles. Yup, FLAMETHROWERS AND RIFLES. They're not made out of hi-tech plastic or nothing, they're just magical rocks - but there's no mistaking a fucking flamethrower. Once the enemies get tougher though - the whole screen is covered in flying particles and colors.

Loot system? LOL. Chest marked on map = item. That's pretty much it. Some small chests sometimes have an item in it, not sure if it's random.

You also can't switch any equipment during a fight, and they use the term "fight" quite liberally. Some homeless elve screaming for help 5 continents away constitutes a fight and locks you out of changing equipment. You got into a fight against a lightning resistant mob and your weapons do lightning damage? If it's one mob - it's going to take a little longer. If it's a whole group (SPOILER: IT IS A GROUP, ALWAYS, AND THERE'S WAVES) - you're going to take breaks between each monster as you can't change your weapon and your abilities takes 30-60 seconds to recharge - same for your companions.

The pacing of the game is also completely horrible - you spend most of your time traveling through corridors, be it a literal corridor or an alley between buildings. Some quests are just 10 minutes of walking until you reach an end point and get XP. All of the quest levels are linear, with quite obvious places to "secrets" (yeah that chest marked on a map is secret as fuck.) There's some hub levels that allow for more non-linear exploration, but even that is linear in its own way, as a lot of the paths are locked behind you doing other paths or other quests first. The movement is also so fucking anoying. You jump to a ledge - prepare to hold W until you get up, or this fucking retard is letting go.

For the people wanting to try this game for the laughs and cringe - don't. There's just nothing worth remembering. The game is bland as fuck. The wokeness is likely concentrated in specific parts of the game and they are for sure not early. There's also no graphical glitches of any kind, no cringe animations to edit etc.
Seems like they decided to include trannies in the game - and then took the most careful approach to make the game as boring as possible, so that the "wrong" audience dies of boredom long before they get to the outrageous "so, I'm non-binary" stuff.

TLDR: the game sucks, don't play it, even if for cringe/laughs.

Alright, that's enough internet for today.

It is actually worth looking at because it showcases several Rook main character builds. The one thing I can think of when looking at all the Rook variants is how much they reflect modern America. When I look around today compared to a few decades ago mostly what I see is dysgenic breeding. Little fat mutants, blue haired whales, shitskin mud people of various colors, lack of symmetry in features, purposeful uglification as a combination of the worst and least genetically fit breeding prolifically. Then the culture which tells otherwise attractive people to disfigure themselves in various ways so they are as ugly as the other goblinas and mutants.

That is what I see with these "Rooks" compare those main characters to ones from 10 years ago where it was giga-chads and hot stacys all the way down. If I wanted to see 2024 modern America I would go camp out on any major college campus and enjoy the genetic mud and mutant parade. I go to fantasy games to ESCAPE these mutts not be immersed in and surrounded by them.

The mages vs templars conflict is an allegory of gun control. But it was done poorly by BioWare. Players overwhelmingly sided with the mages in DA:O so the devs made both sides evil and crazy in DA2. Qunari were portrayed as the Ottoman empire and Sten has pretty based views, questioning why the Grey Warden is a woman. BioWare lost the plot and made Qunari progressive and tolerant who embrace trannies instead of being religious zealots.

I got the game for free from that specific user(jusenkyo7) through his reddit giveaway months ago who claims to be a fan and not an employee of EA. Even though he specified game can not be gifted on any other platform in his thread, for some weird reason I totally cant explain he gave me a cdkey instead of gifting the game.
Chances are he's an employee if he sent you a CDKey:
>Steam Keys are a free service we provide to developers as a convenient tool to help you sell your game on other stores and at retail, or provide for free for beta testers or press/influencers.
Source: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/keys

It doesn't cost a dollar to generate keys.

I personally believe he's an employee because there's no way he'd be able to afford to do that many giveaways on both Steam and Reddit - I also heard about how he did another giveaway on tumblr. Now I've confronted this individual on steam, before I got banned, on his obvious corpo affiliation and he neither denied or refuted it - funny enough I can't find the post in my post history so it may have gotten removed.

I leave it to your judgement though. When you see something like this:

gjJOwSD.png

Is this something you'd see a fan say? Or is this the signs of a manufactured, fake, corpo bot.

As always, I don't have anything concrete. This is all speculation and just based on my feeling, which is: this game's hype is about as fake as a man attempting to pass as a woman.

This incompetent "Corinne" Busche who created this garbage is on record saying "she" wanted to make a game that would make "her" younger self feel good for being represented.

That's about all you need to know. The target audience was preteen trannies.

WTF! The post credit scene is one big fuck you to DA fans.
NIGGA WHAT DO YOU MEAN? I ALREADY QUOTED IT ONES FROM THE OLD THREAD AN ASKED!
they make the actions of the characters of all the DA games seem like they are determined by another bigger big bad and not by the characters themselves, which is shit since it reduces the characters to puppets but also given that there is not going to be another DA game, there is not going to be one real end to the series.

This Dev supposedly has many based centrist takes. Makes good games. But! Bitch has "body types" instead of "sex/gender" in his game. Who forced him to do that when for whole eternity and in 100% of games until couple of years ago it didn't exist? Who? What firing squad? Who forced Owlcat to change "sex selection" in beta to "body types" in RogueTrader? If you have "body types" that means you have knelt, you have kissed a WOKE cock. You might not have throated it, like Biowhore does. You might have not sucked it all the way down. But you KISSED it. Fuck you or anyone who helps pave the way for tyranny and then complain when tyranny marches its armies on it. I pity you, fool

I know thats an employee and how Steam works, I was trying to be funny. There is no way to buy cd-keys for Steam games before they are released, only publishers can give those keys. For months whenever I checked Steam forums a few people were posting almost on every single thread defending the game with very basic answers and being very hostile to even concerned fans because they were posting "negative" messages, this guy was one of theSetting is(or rather was) ripe for expansion, all the games and all of the backstory so far have been contained to the one specific continent on the southern hemisphere of the world with no information about the rest. I think expanding the world could have helped alleviate the writing problems you have pointed out as some sort of a salvaging move. Because identity crisis began with Inquisition but there was still a chance to salvage things afterwards. But now that is completely gone with Veilguard due to all department lead positions being filled with the kind of people you described.

Look at the current creative director John Epler. From QA analyst to being the mastermind behind this scene in the span of a few years, followed by a narrative director role and is now the creative director. Only because people in those positions kept leaving and Bioware kept failing to bring in anyone that was actually qualified to fill those positions.

Or the current game director whose only experience before Dragon Age only consisted of Sims dlcs to the point of losing his mind and attempting the impossible(changing genders).

Or the pansexual non-binary porn addict lead writer who thinks it is okay for a character to use terms like "trans" and "non-binary" in an established fantasy setting.

Yeah shitty, but at the same time who cares what shitty nu-bioware writers think about earlier DA games. Just enjoy Origins as a standalone game.

Clearly he disliked the sloppy writing and unrealistic characters, not the political progressiveness, he didn't say a thing about that
