It couldn't crack 90k and peaked at 89,418 concurrent players!

What I'm seeing here is that it rises about 10% per day. I've had my non-binary-assigned-male-at-birth partner do the math (sorry, not very good at it myself) and they say that in a month it will be > 1.5M concurrent players at this rate. That is better than Baldurs Gate 3 record. So suck it Swen and choke on it chuds.

In many places of the world this was a three day weekend, due to friday being a holiday for many countries (basically, plenty of catholic ones). So if DAV had any chance of hitting peaks, it was during these days. We'l have to see if the game gets down to 50k before next sunday.

I told him to not bother and told him a bit about some degenerate things in the game, which seems to manage deflate his excitement for the game.

Problem is that even if you can let the flashy combat and the graphics carry you, everything you heard is true - it just gets really repetitive, increasingly contrived, and the endless mandatory enforced positivity becomes increasingly insufferable. Literally every combat you'll have companions squirting out praise "OMG GOOD JOB ROOK" at everything you do ... bitch, this is 500th generic skeleton I've smashed in a day, it stopped being impressive in the first half hour.

I did muster up the energy for another dive and ... lemme just say that when that, ah .... controversial character shows up, I was gobsmacked at how badly she was handled, that someone would write a self-insert character and make them so utterly insufferable. She's a straight up cunt about everything right from the jump, dropping the "yeah, I wear lots of things. You don't get to tell me who I am" literally in the second conversation you have with her.

And she's a high school student. You suffer through her mission, return to base, and there's a whole scene where her mom - repeating this, her mom - says she'll join the team, which she whines about The entire scene gives you a good sense of how incredibly unlikeable she's written:

This is how she's introduced. It was, evidently, more important to swing for the sullen teenager demographic than for anyone to ask "you know, the stakes are supposed to be high here. Maybe we should get someone who doesn't need parental permission for this Super Important world saving battle?"

It's like a heist movie where someone says "You son of a bitch, I'm in. So long as my mom is cool with it."

And then not long after you talk to her and they drop this line - all I can think is "....are they fucking with us? They've got to be fucking with us."

Then she goes on about how there's traps everywhere, she's around traps all the time, there could be traps anywhere and all I can think is ".....you don't say."

I find it so odd that the entire discourse around this game is the pronouns and homos and such but rarely includes the fact that almost all the elves are negroes. That most NPC's are some shit stained colour of brown. Nobody seems to care that one of the whitest genres in gaming, fantasy, has been taken over by the negroe. What reminded me of that, is the picture Zed posted has a thread topic about the issue, but its rare to see. If the game was homo free, no non-binary bullshit, would anyone even care that whites are either villians only or just side characters? I bet people would be lapping it up just like they did the Fallout TV show.

I mean I understand some people have gender dysphoria, an illness that makes them think they're the wrong gender. If the number of players falls below 22k in the next few hours they are in deep trouble.

This is based on the typical ratio of Monday's low to Sunday's low, which is about 6 or 7 to 10. That makes around 22k the normal low, for a 6 to 10 ratio. Below that is abnormally low.

And indeed, notice the progression - first it's "we demand current year social issues be crudely translated into the game lore", until they take over, then it's "we no longer portray real life issues, instead we portray societies in a way that's idealized according to our views".
