Layout isn't everything. It's like they looked at the U4 map but forgot to actually wander in there in later games, which gave a better description of the town.

Paws wasn't actually a shithole until U7. Between U4 and U6 it only grew richer.

Not really, but the graphical style is the last thing people should be butthurt about in this game. So Paws looks like a 17th century hamlet instead of a 15th century hamlet, big fucking deal.

as much as I love the Ultima series, I want to see this fail into oblivion with my own eyes, even when it was cursed since the moment it was conceived.

I think that means you do love the Ultima series.
That's right. I didn't knew what I was thinking when I thought a new Ultima game would be a good thing... But man, Lady British? wtf? I wonder why they feel the need to use such an old franchise that younger people isn't familiar with. I guess this helps their lore rape, like they wanted to do with Ultima IX.

Also: the best Paws design was found in VII. It really looked like what it was supposed to be.

And yet you probably have seen the same character art I have seen.

Besides, I wasn't criticizing the art, I was criticizing the lack of consistency, which you optimistically (considering all we know) pointed out to be an incorrect criticism :)

Story: "The original ends a bit stragely. You turn up, you're told they need an Avatar but the world doesn't appear to be in that much threat. When you become an Avatar, you're immediately sent back to Earth and nobody seems to be any better off. One of the things we've done this time around is provide you a very visible, narrative reason for adventuring.

So, we've added the Black Weep, which is the manifestation of the planet being unhappy. It's a commetary on the 21st century. The planet is starting to rebel, the people are starting to lose their way. This weep has a graphical imagery, like a pox or a goo, that you can see on the animals or the enviroment. Part of the story is that the planet will require an Avatar, so that people can see that if you're a good person trying to do right, you can make a difference to the world."

:retarded:

 What the FUCK?? So the story will be utter fail, good to know.

Moral of the story is that it is useless to be virtuous unless it turns to be a worldwide necessity :killit:

I always figured the whole point of U4 was that the world was kind of becoming apathetic and you went to become the Avatar to inspire the populace into re-considering the virtues and have a spiritual awakening. It was about a journey to become heroic or legendary in a moral or spiritual sense rather than by amassing a bunch of stuff and kicking the shit out of everything that moves.

But hey, Ultima Forever having its own Exxon Valdez spill that you can only clean up by becoming the avatar... Almost the same thing. Who writes this shit?

Trinsic has been changed more, but you can still see how the original inspired them. That pool.

Eh if you really have to whiteknight on behalf of U4 there's always the original so who cares? I personally think it looks ok, derp artstyle is in 99% of RPG's so what? The game actually looks ok for a tablet release. I'll torrent it.

Are you talking to me? I'm not whiteknighting. Also it's gonna be F2P.

Not you bro, all the hators here just raeging pointlessly. And if F2P then even better, though I guess I'll still need to torrent it to bypass all the microtransactions to get the cool spiky pauldrons and Cloud's Sword. ;)

Can any of you involved in the beta talk yet or are you still on the gag order? This has been a ridiculous wait.

It was an alpha, not a beta. I'm not sure there will be a beta at this point.
