There's no way Bioware will leave it be. Baldur's Gate is just asking for it. It's got that short skirt on and everything.

I really hope this game costs them a lot of money. Would be pretty nice to see it crash and burn.

If Lord of Ultima is any indication they'll put so few resources into it that even a couple dumbfucks playing it will be a profitable success.

They have spent two years doing this. A fair lot of money has to be involved.

Yet, I do not believe it will work. Despite the Ultima name, there is nothing that will set it apart from the rest.

Quest for the Avatar? Is this a typo or are you literally working for the Avatar in the game? This would make more sense considering it's multi-player.

Shit sucks.

I think everyone in that game is trying to be an Avatar.

Lady British thinks it's actually a good idea, especially since this Avatar deal turned out so well last time.

What are the "rest", though? I don't play these types of games. Maybe this game is revolutionary within its subgenre(s)?

I do not play them either, but I unfortunately know what this game hasn't that some of these others have : decent graphic design.
(and I can say that just from the couple of artworks released, obviously ! )

Besides, to the newcomers, I highly doubt that :

is an incentive.

Judging from this 7 pages thread, bioware is quite good at trolling the codex.

I am reading those, although of course not feeling welcome to participate anymore. It is funny how the people in the alpha in that group are trying SO hard to defend the game after they had this exclusive sneak peek. I am not sure this is genuine interest in U4F or, simply and bluntly said, trying to be in good terms with Bioware Mythic (to whom I owe nothing, except the further rape (I know they love that word) of my favorite franchise)

But yes, some good points are made.

That raises the question, how did you get invited to this anyway? :smug:

It just seems strange that supposedly huge "fans" of the original Ultimas would even defend this thing. :?

It's like Ultima IX all over again. Some action game that is Ultima.... in name only. But has nothing whatsoever any essence of an Ultima game.

I do not understand it either. It has Britannia (greatly deformed), swords, and that's about it. Maybe it's enough ?

Selection bias. It's only a few people there actually defending it.

Personally I think being butthurt about this game is a waste of time. Ultima is dead, let the casual gamers enjoy their deeper-than-usual MMO on their tablet and let's see what happens.

Ultima IX bothered to do a minmum of continuity (although it was greatly broken). Ultima IX tried to do a few things Ultima. The Virtues story were badly told but weren't that bad at the root. It has only been ruined by a very flawed execution.

I think the problems with U4F will run more deep below. Even the profit model is rotten.

Well at comic con (If I was reading correctly) they have a cloth map of thew game. So I guess that makes it an Ultima.

Anyways fuck this crap, I'm going to go finish Serpent Isle. Which is the best Ultima ever. Just FYI.
