"As huge fans of the Ultima franchise, the team at BioWare Mythic is not only excited to be able to bring this reimagining of the original rich world to the fans of the classic RPGs, but also to introduce a new generation of gamers who have never had a chance to discover why this is one of our industry’s most beloved worlds,” said Eugene Evans, Studio GM at BioWare Mythic.

Guys, guys it OK, they are huge fans of Ultima.

BioWare Mythic and EA are banking on the time vs money trade-off. Some players have lots of time and little money; for other players, it's the reverse. The latter, ideally, will translate their impatience into microtransaction purchases, a kind of shortcut Barnett himself often uses in tablet gaming: "I could do the quest to kill the giant and go and kill the dragon and kill the necromancer to get the rights to go and have my boat made... or I could give them a buck and just have the boat. And I want a boat, because I want to go and sail around the oceans. I don't want to wait. I want a boat NOW."

I WANT TO BE A BOAT
:retarded:

I wish dragons existed so that every single one of these fucks could die due to being violently raped by one.

I also suspect one of sgc_meltdown's recent posts might have damaged me more than I realize.

An oldie but...
http://www.gamerevolution.com/manifesto/ea-artist-soon-to-be-laid-off-burns-ea-management-2803
and he needed Paul Barnett. You know him as the crazy British dude that appears in random videos at EA to promote his latest bullshittery. We know him as the crazy British dude who we have no idea of how he still has a job. This man was supposed to be the savior of Warhammer’s vision and design. Now all he can do is promote his strange ideas about his little secret project web Ultima game that’s been almost universally criticized by all of us and focus groups. What’s that? You didn”t know Paul loves one of those old Ultima games sooooo much he’s making a literal copy of it for Facebook? Well, the cats outta the bag. Too bad it sucks ass.

Paul Barnett said:
I mean, I'm aware that Battleship Potemkin defined modern cinema, but it's not a great view. You watch it and go, 'it's black and white and a bit crap, I'd rather watch something else.'

It plays fast, it's clicky, but the combat's fluid and fun rather than tactical and mind-numbing.

FUCK YOU PAUL, FUCK YOU

YOU ARE THE DECLINE INCARNATE YOU IGNORANT BASTARD RETARDED PIECE OF SHIT.

I'd like to rage but can't be bothered too much. Kickstarter has opened up a whole new world of possibilities so all this type of shit is like in some other world now. The more the mainstream industry implodes with this type of shit the better and we'll be immune from it anyway. Just a shame that they will still cash in a bit and profane legendary names of old.

The guy isn't thinking big enough. Why not just have a game where you pick the ending you want at the start then watch the cutscene? As a bonus all the achievements unlock at the same time so you can feel like a righteous 1337 badass?

Just in case, I'm pulling that stuff out. It has apparently gotten some unwanted attention.

Besides, I see that EA & Bioware are now busy making awful PR with smart Potemkin quotes. This is probably enough for you to judge the game quality

How does Paul still have a job? The bullshit he slung for Warhammer Online alone was legendary.

How utterly predictable. Rape was imminent.
So now you know why EA recently gave away those two Ultima adventure games for FREE* at GoG.

Wow, I thought Lord of Ultima was bad.

What. The. Fuck.

Pre-UO:R UO was the best game ever, why they scrapped UO2 (years before WoW) is beyond comprehension. This is just..........(words can't begin to describe)

Why they keep insulting their fans is beyond me.
