I did not actually play more. Reasons being both disgust and having to work the day after. I do not believe I am missing out considering what has been inflicted to me in 30 minutes. Maybe I will try the beta, if they kept my account active.

What you saw was just a derpy tutorial for noobs. I didn't play the game much beyond that point either, but there is more to it.

Tutorial or not, I can *hardly* believe the game turns out any good after the focus showed on those gameplay mechanics. And it certainly won't change the art style and the retarded world and characters.

I really cannot wait for screenshots to be out so that everyone can see. The art is WAY worse than what they officially showed so far.

I dont know whos dick you had to suck to get into alpha but thats really not worth it(now for something as good as ultima 7 part 2 , ill consider it too) . Just looking at their webpage, the art direction makes me vomit. The warrior and mage look like straigh out of team fortress, or more likely an incest of wow and team fortress. Its really bad, seriously the nintendo ds ultima shots werent nearly as bad. I dont want to know that new generation of players they are trying to cater with, i just want to kickstarter a mars colony project and let all those filthy new gamers cannibalize each other on earth, a new human society need to be started anew, seeing that "ultima" made me realize theres nothing to salvage anymore.

During my entire time working for EA, I regularly facepalmed at how unprofessional people from the studios were. We'd get emails with porn clips in them, or saying some developer or artist or writer should be raped (if she was a woman) or gang beaten (if it was a guy), because the sender didn't like them. We had, at one point, Gordon Van Dyke, the head of DICE, come on to the forums and repeatedly make huge, ill-worded, ranting posts cussing out people who had problems with unresolved bugs in Battlefield 2142. Working at Trion, we had concept artists sending around models for new content coming up with naked character models made to look like children, with pedophile 'jokes' about how they'd fuck them.

The entire industry is like that - it's full of angry, nasty, prima donna assholes who think that because they're working in the industry, they can do whatever they want. It's disheartening at times, because there's a whole lot of awesome, good people working, and they often get drowned out by these idiots. These other guys act like it's 4Chan all day, every day. I love working in gaming, but sometimes you realize that you're working with a bunch of immature 14-year olds with big paychecks and bigger egos. You want to know where bad shit in gaming culture comes from? These guys, because they're deep into it, they propagate it, and feel validated doing so. And all too often, they get awards and bonuses - see the marketing guys upthread.

So... it's not just self-referential-codex-humor... the gaming industry really is populated entirely by degenerates...
