Good luck with the shield fighting Crucible Knights.
I use shield with no skill attached to it. Prefer weapon skill. But thinking of it, shield skill could be useful with Crucible Knights.
"Could"? A good greatshield trivializes crucible knights. The difference between a high-stability greatshield and a random medium shield is almost the same as the difference between a medium shield and blocking with a dagger.

Why, tho? I never went for a greatshield because the "Guard" stat didn't look much better than my trusty Brass shield or Carian Knight Shield.

I have no idea where to go and get raped anywhere I turn.

This should be a Steam review.

Clearly you aren't actually finding recipes if you think crafting has no purpose. You can craft a cure for pretty much every debuff, the fowl feet to boost item/rune drops, basically free throwing knives for pulling, and both offensive and defensive consumables which are a galaxy away from 'useless'.

It's not useless, just a MASSIVE pain in the ass. I'd much rather buy antidotes or antirots or whatever they are called than hunt down and farm 0834748953894578973 ingredients in order to craft them for "free". And there are WAY too many recipes, they should've been condensed into fewer books.

DS3 had a lot of twin weapons because it didn't have power stancing.

Powerstancing whatever you want >>>>>> twin weapons. Here is one thing Elden Ring did right. And btw, can you guys guess which game introduced powerstances? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I don't follow the wiki completely, but sometimes I take a look at the weapons in the game and look for cool ones that I'd be interested in, and just get a general idea of the area where they're at.
Keeping a constant watch on the wiki and beelining for your favorite weapon and spells is gay, but it would also suck to miss out on a cool weapon perfect for your build because you didn't drop down a certain hole or something

This used to be true, but the patch changed that. Greatshields have been improved across the board(?) fairly significantly.

Quick question: is armor in this game Perfectly Balanced™? I have not find a single piece of gear with particularly high defense for its weight, unlike in previous titles where you had Elite Knight set and the Alonne set with above-average stats for their weight, making them "better" armor. In ER I get the impression everything is standardized aka "balanced". Anyone find ANY notable piece of gear?

Armor feels pretty homogenized: not far into the game I've found several sets where the stats are very similar and in a few cases the difference were behind the comma while the base armor has the same weight. There's some funky looking stuff out there, so just wear whatever you can while looking good.

At 56 boost, the Brass shield is p. good, since it will allow you to block through most combos if you carefully manage your stamina. On the other hand, a Golden Greatshield (70) or a Visage Shield (75) will basically allow you to block anything but the worst "explosion" attacks. The king of shields, the Fingerprint Stone Shield, even allows you to reach 100 boost with the Greatshield Talisman, which means that you can literally block whatever combo you want for how long you want without ever watching your stamina bar. But a higher boost value isn't the only benefit brought by greatshields: the category of your shield determines which attacks will cause your enemies to bounce off of it into the pseudo-staggered animation that gives you a wide window for a guard counter. If your playstyle heavily relies on blocking and guard counters, using a greatshield makes a huge difference.

I found the veteran's set to be slightly better than the other heavy armor with a similar weight. Other than that, everything seems to be pretty homogeneous in its defense/weight ratio.

The Godskin duo resurrected for me once they were both dead. Is this even supposed to behave like this? When they were both dead, their healthbar on the bottom was at 50%, then they just both resurrected.
This is where I'm up to as well. I'm honestly just annoyed at the game at this point since I've already killed these godskin guys like five times in other locations. I was already not totally loving the game until I got to Mountaintops of the Giants, now I'm straight up not liking it.

There are a number of heavier sets mid to late game I've found that have provided excellent protection for their weight. Still requires a fair amount of endurance to pull off depending on what you're using for a weapon, but I'll say I'm able to use them effectively at mid-weight while dual-wielding two Colossal Weapons equaling 35lbs together.

I need to keep a little sheet of paper and take notes every time someone gets to this point, then show the piece of paper a month from now to the people who keep acting like the game is all roses.

These same people doubted all of the no-lifers and just kept saying that we were "burned out".
