You will notice that even if you exploit this your money will run out very quickly. Remember, 30K for full faction armor at highest rank, ~20K for a fully upgraded & enchanted/modded weapon, etc. etc. I am constantly starved for money and I already brewed 100+ elex potions. +2 attribute points is NOT a lot when it costs /5/ for 1 point, and you need 75 points just to get from 60 to 75 strength... that's already ~40 Elex potions.
Agree. I'm constantly below 1k and have to steal or hunt just to sell trophies to afford more Elex or craft things or pay the trainers. You don't swim in money in this game and you definitely can't spam Elex potions and max stats whenever you feel like.
I agree with whoever said (Luckmann?) that quest "forbidden technology" is shitty - because you can only make correct action during first talk with quest giver, not after you evaluate and speak with the guy near weapon.
Well, toro claims that he reached level 35 so it's possible that he has enough money to max the stats at this stage (not that it matters greatly at this point, I assume). I'm level 15 and my STR is 55, DEX 40 or so, CON 30, INT 30. I'm broke and can't afford to buy more Elex right now.
The mobs are regenerating when you sleep and I guess when you reach a different chapter.
Big robots like Collosus are dropping like 2 Natural Elex with lvl 3 Animal Trophies. To be honest, towards end game I was hunting for them.
You basically have an infinite amount of ELEX but you need to grind for it. And you need to have at least lvl 25 to finish the game. It's a requirement for all factions.
I have been watching people play this on Twitch.tv . It is enjoyable to watch, I would not like to play it as I don't like this twitch based action combat. But I like the world building, NPCs you meet and quest design. I would enjoy playing in this world if this was a Fallout 1 or 2 type gameplay.
If I ever had money to make a dream RPG I would probably hire these devs to make it.

Basically you can say "i'm here for a weapon" and after that there's no turning point. You can't change your mind and are forced to grab the weapon.
Not that it makes any sense to grab this weapon, or give 5 weapons from other quest to vikings when I am playing as Cleric anyway.
Also Jora has insomnia (probably got it while mopping floors for guild of mages back in his old time and that replaces his sleep) and weapon as item is scripted so you can't just take it or steal it for your own reasons. It's not a good open quest design.
So without reading the thread and doing research how is this game on the Bethesda scale? It does appear they are competing with that style of game correct? Closer to Gothic or are they truly fucked? This clueless post brought to you by lack of coffee. Coffee. When it runs out shit sucks.

Maybe, but right after I said "k thx" I walk in and I notice that it has "forbidden" steal tag regardless of the fact that I got permission. Which was the point when it gets super obvious but you can't do anything about it.

That's how it is. It's in line with the "fetch parts from abandoned converter quest" as well, since there when you ask him about carrying the tech he says you're allowed to bring them in for decommissioning as per official orders.
Unrelated question: does your coldness influence Jax's voice? I have noticed his voice changes at times, and I think it coincides with a coldness increase or decrease but not sure. He has the rough gruff voice at the start and then a more normal sounding one.
Get Origin -> Add Trader to the location -> He has an infinite amount of Natural ELEX (10 pieces each time you trade with him) -> Craft ELEX Drink (+2 Attributes) -> Reach STR 100 or whatever number you like -> Profit
I just want to write my final thoughts about the game.
Pros:
- Gothic atmosphere. Except the first half of Risen this is the first time we have a game that resembles a complete Gothic experience. It's not the best but it's Gothic and it's back.
- World design. At first glance the world looks like a shit-fuck-stack (see Fallout 3) but then you start noticing details like: Wolrd Heart veins, Converter veins and how they affected the world. These kind of details (environmental storytelling) is adding a lot of charm to the world.
- Quest design. It's the same interwoven fabric from Gothic. It's bad compared to the originals but it's leaps and bounds over Witcher 3, Andromeda and everything else released in the last years (with AoD and Underrail as exceptions). Factions are back.
- Story is decent. I got the good ending and to be honest, I kind of like it. The ending and the setup for ELEX 2 makes sense.
- Exploration is good. Most legendary items are found off the beaten path. It's awesome to say Fuck it! and go explore without a quest mark.
- Weapons, shields and gems can be upgraded. But end game armors can only be acquired from factions.
Neutral:
- Jetpack. It's not bad but it's not good either. It fucks up exploration because you can go anywhere without thinking or searching for a route. It destroys combat because you are the only one using one during the entire game (except for Collosus robots).
- Dialogues. Some are good and some are bad. I don't feel strong about it. Did not find shit that annoyed me beyond reason. I'm no English expert anyway.
- Crafting is unfinished. I did not find any recipes for trophies therefore I guess they were only meant for money.
- Companions are alright but nothing special. I rotated through all of them. There is one hint of romance with Caja.
- Infinite amount of ELEX means that you can get every skill or weapon with enough grind.
- Generated loot but most of the good stuff is found outside of chests. Take it as you like it.
- Broken quests. There were a couple of them but nothing critical. The game can be finished without the 5-10 broken quests.
Cons:
- The most retarded combat ever. Risen 1 combat was perfect, Gothic 1&2 combat was good. I don't understand why they fuck around with it. As I said before: the game is unplayable once you enter combat. The fact that KB + mouse were not tested properly is a disgrace for PB. Animation are janky, controls are clunky, mobs are uber aggressive, proximity radar is useless ... fuck it. There is too much to write about this clusterfuck. Considering that the game is combat oriented then some people will have great difficulties for the good reasons. Honestly, despite all the fanbois, there is no excuse for this piss poor combat. It's SHIT.
- Mobs placement makes no damn sense. Mutants are living near cultivators !? Animals are attacking Collosus robots !? You have small level mobs near Trolls and shit. For example: in the original game Trolls were unique mobs which were hand placed and you could not stumble upon them by mistake. In this game you can stumble over packs of raptors after 1 min of running in any direction. I understand the rationale behind it but personally I prefer zones with accessible mobs.
- Quest compass is real. Some or most quests cannot be solved without the quest compass. A sign of real decline.
- They reused Risen/Gothic lore and sometimes not in the best way. I know it's fan service but I found this jarring (also fuck the developers pictures).
- UI is consolized trash but that was to be expected. The inventory system is an abomination. Not all keys can be rebinded.
- It was nice to see some C&C if you help Clerics, Outlaws or Albs to take over the Domed City.
- Game progression from a weakling to an overpowered Paladin. That's what I'm asking for
- Skill tree in which skills are rarely useless. Push INT to 50 asap is the most critical part of the game.
- Don't bother with mining.
Bottom line: Gothic retarded cousin is back. And that's the best we have ATM. More than I've personally hoped for.
This game is not for everyone. To finish it I had to switch off my brain each time I entered combat and that meant doing the motions just because I needed to progress. For a long time. Who claims that the combat is deep ... it's basically lying or trolling or it's simply a retard.
But if someone has the energy to go over the combat then ELEX has plenty to offer: day-night cycles for NPCs, interwoven quests and factions skills. The world feels alive and that's awesome when compared with the rest of soulless shit released on the market.
As it stands right now, with the broken combat, ELEX is not great or good but if they patch it then it can be really good and if they improve on the formula then ELEX 2 has the potential to be a genuinely great game.
Get Origin -> Add Trader to the location -> He has an infinite amount of Natural ELEX (10 pieces each time you trade with him) -> Craft ELEX Drink (+2 Attributes) -> Reach STR 100 or whatever number you like -> Profit
Question: Anybody know where to score explosive bolts after acquiring the paltry few from traders in Tavar? Basic arrows and bolts respawn in the stock almost instantly - is their scarcity a bug? Are there crafting recipes for explosive and serrated bolts (preference for the former, but the latter could be nice too)?
On a more general note, let me lend my voice to the choir of lovers of this title. Sure, it has a few bugs and the combat is a touch janky in the initial levels, but it's heads above Risen 1 (the last PB title I played). The exploration is genuinely rewarding, the environmental storytelling isn't as atrocious as has become the convention in AAA titles, and the companions have impressed me in both their range and willingness to interrupt general NPC conversations. Initially I thought the opposite was true -- that Duras, for example, wouldn't speak up to in situations where he clearly should, but CRONY U4 and Caja has shown my judgements were premature (haven't tried out the Alb or Outlaw companion, and have yet to meet a Cleric companion, if one exists).
The ONE major criticism I have is the progression curve: I literally spent the first 11 hours using weapons I either acquired in the tutorial (bow) or immediately following (a weak hatchet, 22 dmg). To be fair, I traded up to a broadsword at the 5 hour mark, but it still only did 22 damage (so I consider that an aesthetic change, though the special attack is different). Granted, I skipped Tavar till around the 12th hour mark, which looks to be an intermediate step above Goliet when it comes to items, but did mine the Dome and came away a bit disappointed with the limited range of items (almost all gated off from use due to the attribute system). Figuring out the Elex drink recipe was a boon -- I'd still be many levels away from equipping what I have now without it.
For the record: 20 hours in; just entered Ignadon after exploring Tavar and Edan to their full extent. I'm decked out in scavenger gear, and rocking weapons that do an average of 50 damage on a hit (grenades, laser sword with damage over time effects, crossbows and just nabbed my first plasma rifle). I'm enjoying things much more -- mobs are still a challenge, but not an impossibility.

There's parts in game where Jax is same as flashback Jax, but then there are parts where he isn't. It's never been two different voices during a whole conversation though, so not sure if it's just some areas have a different voice or if it really is cold influencing it. The latter would be pretty cool.
Unrelated: So I found some dank weapons and have no stats to use them. True PB experience right there.
Also, returning to the topic of enemy placement, I also kind of yearn for G2/G3 persistent placement with no respawn. Currently there are some areas (like the farm near domed city) that are some random scrubs working on a farm and within spitting distance is a giant monstrosity that could kill them all, and it seems like a recipe for disaster. I dunno, seems weird, and could have been better placed... especially since in this giant ass world I keep running across random items in weird corners (gold nuggets, etc.).
It really is a big ass world tho, and I like it more than twitcher 3. In W3 I felt like none of the landmarks were unique or mattered, you just followed your psychic GPS. Here the landmarks still kind of work and with the natural roads everywhere, you can get around. I dislike the quest compass aspect (luckily you can just not enable it) but do like that different gear gives you different type of radar, effectively.

Origin is the official name of that town "In the center of the map", the town that will belong to you (in chapter one itself, quests are way too fucking easy).
I like how all people there call it Origin but the teleporter is named something stupid like, "At the center of the map". Did they forget to rename the portal?
Are the PSI spells supposed to look really bland and boring? I thought when I got chain lightning I would be shooting actual lightning not some little gay ass ball with some shitty spark fx
Yeah, all projectiles look like shit. Compare chain lightening from Warcraft 3 with this game, the difference is laughable.
Anyway, as a cleric, the only spell you need to use is that black hole one. Combine that with lasers and flame thrower to finish off enemies. I've been killing skull level mechs and monsters so much, even got two level-ups out of them (which considering the shit XP you get from killing..).
I mean, what do you think about allowing players to act like that, like I wrote?
So I don't want to join Berserkers, but want them to succeed, I want join Outlaws, but want them to fail, and don't want to join Clerics and them to win, but want their shiny toys.
Fights are too complicated. In Batman one key was enough, played with one hand holded bear in another watched TV in same time (didn't have to watch for the game).
In Witcher you need to press two keys and that's already a limit for me. But I forgive them this because everybody praised the game, and who I am to go agains all?
Here what the fuck is goin on I don't know, stamina? Why the fuck I need that? It's interfering wich face-smashing. I have feeling that devs did all to prevent me to play it cool.
For two hours I fucked with mob with a skull, before someone from thread advised me to just walk around it. And how am I supposed to know that???
But what is killing me is the local quests. I took the quest to find Berserk who stole Elexit and... nothing. Do you think the developers somehow took care of me?
Put in some marks? And I don't even talking they had to do an analogue of witcher sense like in Witcher, after all you are don't expecting much from such games.
So I had to open journal and read the description. And it says that he has been on the balcony of the fortress. And which fortress is that?
Am I obliged to keep it in memory? Is that some kind of stone age?
I overcame myself, continued to play and even start to like the game, even got hooked, but then I went on Metacritic I saw there 7/10. For me there is only three ratings, 8/10, 9/10 and 10/10. Everything below is shit by definition. Well, if fellows thinking the game is shit, who am I to think different? I was have to uninstall.
I can't seem to find a recipe for stamina potion, apparentely Caldrim is supposed to sell it but he doesn't for me? Or do I have to do a quest for him?
Max Stamina recipe for free from the building at the end of the airfield/hangers west of Hort. Where you have to go for the malfunctioning robots quest. Also a laser rifle in there.
