In one of the new areas, noa set a pair of panties down in the corner and when I inspected them - they were an instrument. We hope you enjoy this gaming experience.

Been watching a friend play. Looks great so far. Can't wait to fix my computer so I can play as well.

How is it features-wise? Does gameplay peter out fast? Early access scares me.

It looks promising to me. You can build a house. Other than my friend's lackluster skills, the only thing that disappoints me right now is the fact that they nerfed prostitution into the ground.

Seems like an upgrade on Elona so far. All I've done so far is make a shitty character, do some of the tutorials, and then die by trying to punch a dodo to death without my little girl to protect me. I think I'll make a better character this time and try visiting a town instead of trying to make equipment out of twigs.

It's a little buggy right now. Was motivated to roll a new character after tutorial axe disappeared (despawned?) while fiddling with workbench placement. As far as I know, there's only one save per character, and the game autosaves constantly. (do correct me if I'm wrong.) Combat is no slouch, I think I've died a dozen times in my first hour with the game. There's a lack of options for character sprites. This is true particularly for male clothing, most of the available tops look like they were drawn with the female form in mind. Hope they add more outfits soon.

Would say it's the opposite. Tutorial is a slog but everything after has been more interesting, so far.

9000 concurrent players? Big for a niche game in already niche genre. And with a price tag of $20 at that.

I remember when it was going to come out on Steam in 2016, fucking 8 years.

So after sinking in -jesus christ 14 hours- here's my mini review/comparison. If you've never heard of/played Elona, watch Sseth's review, it's too big to go over entirely.

Stuff missing from old Elona (modded with plus):
Bunch of feats (to be fair a bunch of those were crap, and there are some new ones)
Limit break system for melee weapons
Seems to have fewer/very few unique quests, though maybe I'm just not finding any.
No trade goods mechanic? (Probably for the best, but musician is still in so maybe trade is coming back) I think the blackjack is gone too, but the slot machine is in? Didn't test much.
No more ether wind? Haven't seen it so far at least.
No more bell enemies? Unless they show up later.
UI is a bit shit, it's lacking full keyboard control and I frequently end up fumbling an item out of my inventory when I mean to do something else, even in combat.

Stuff that is new/expanded:
Crafting system that actually seems pretty good. Though I'm having a hell of a time getting blacksmithing rolling; it seems some skills are meant to be starter skills and blacksmithing isn't one of them. At least I don't need a fucking microchip like the glassmaking...
Quality of Life features. Dear god, I'm never going back. You can search for items on the map and it includes chests, so you'll never misplace something in your 30 chest hoard of crap. Auto stashing loot when you get home. Auto pathing and watering crops. Automatically praying once a day (that costs a feat; totally worth it.) Auto combat done in an intelligent way with customizable settings. Auto pathing to the random quest givers or people you ask the guard the location of, including specific merchants or the quest board etc.
Races/classes have more unique mechanics, especially the advanced ones. You can be a succubus and get stronger by boinking people, apparently. There's a wraith that uses mana as health. Dwarves get stat buffs from booze. Cool shit.
Bunch of new areas. Probably less than Elona+ had, but I haven't got far enough in either game to make that call.
3D isometric perspective. Actually not a fan; it looks good 90% of the time, but then once in a while it hides a chest behind a tree or you go to Derphy and can't see fuck all in the slums. Hopefully there's an option to hide roofs at all times.
Summoning spells seem to be a thing? There seems to be a separate stat for summoned minions besides companions. Potentially very cool.
More job board quests I think, especially combat oriented ones. You can get passive ones like 'just kill X monsters over the next 2 weeks' which is nice.
There's a whole complex town creation system with jobs and laws and research and shit. Haven't gotten deep in it yet but is potentially very cool. It sucks at the begining; lots of tutorials and there's annoying shit like weeds and trash appearing randomly in your base until you level it up.
Shrines in dungeons, that do stuff like summon a boss, upgrade an item of your choice, and other cool shit.

TLDR: It's really good, I prefer it over the previous game despite missing features. If development keeps going and it adds more stuff it'll be my new favourite roguelike, which is a tall fucking order. And it's still got slaves and child murder and whatever, hasn't been hit with the PC stick. Though if you aren't paying attention in character creation your mom might be a begging cuckold.

Some more new stuff I've figured out:

There's some sort of farming faction/currency thing? I don't know how to get any of it, but it can be traded for upgraded seeds. You can also upgrade seeds yourself via farming skill. Farming's actually pretty cool now, I'd legitimately recommend this to anyone that liked Stardew Valley and the like for the farming aspect. I ignored it for quite a while but with all the QoL stuff it's actually a great way to make cash, train cooking and then leverage that into gaining stats and making more cash. You're incentivized to make good crops too, instead of just covering the entire map with them, because there's a stat that governs how many plants can be productively grown on a map. You can, of course, raise that stat.

If you want a way to make a bit of pocket money early on without danger, you can turn granite rocks into cut stone and then make a sculpting table and turn the cut stone into statues, which sell for ~40 coins each. It's a pittance compared to clearing a dungeon, but if you're trying to play as a snail pianist or something, might help you out.

The cards from the first game now do stuff! You can find a card bestiary sort of thing in your journal menu, and collecting more than 1 gives passive bonuses.

Wishing from wells isn't retarded any more! You find items while exploring that can be redeemed for wishes. They're rare, obviously, but still. Beats the crap out of wandering around draining wells and chugging acid to abort your alien babies.

Swimming is a thing now! Water has varied depth, and you can even move out into the water on the world map on certain spots. Beware of drowning. Hopefully there's some cool stuff in the deep water.

Things I have not figured out:

How to make beds that aren't made of grass.
How to make swords or armour out of metal.
How to obtain microchips needed for various crafting stations (I had a quest to send 6 somewhere, and intended to just steal them for myself, but I think I butterfingered them into oblivion somehow because I failed the quest but never kept them.)
How to stop playing.

My initial impressions from what I played yesterday. Visually big improvement over elona I like the isometric 3d it is more immersive. The UI is ugly opening up the bag and seeing the cluster fuck of items is a ick from me. Crafting is cool as its relevant the entire playthrough it seems another layer of progression and player creativity.

It is more slow paced game then elona but rewarding have plenty of free time if you plan on playing it.

I tried it out game, is super addicting and hilarious with those random quests/monsters but it's hard, and you can easily die to a random mob before you even know what hit you
