I'm still not sure if it is my thing, but 12 Euroshekels is a point where i think its okay to give it a try, even if it really is only Eurotrucksimulator in Space, which i DON'T want.
Its not much more than that, imagine eurotruck simulator but with good dogfighting vs flying trucks with lasers attached to them. Plenty other ways to spend those 12 euros although.

This might be sufficient.
We'll see. Seems if i buy at the frontier store, i have the option to link it with Steam.
I'll just refrain from doing so until i gave it an extensive test and if it turns out to be not to my liking, i can still sell it for a few bucks to an acquaintance of mine who also wants it.

Is it even playable with M+KB ?

yes

Haha, this guy reminds me of a Lock On player, who played that jet sim with a keyboard and mouse, and on a crappy rig it could barely pull 20 fps, and yet he still beat our asses with that setup.

That being said, there are many little errors in this guy's control of the ship which is due to the KB and mouse movement. But overall, he mastered that setup pretty nicely.

It can be if you want it to. It will be at first, since courier missions are the safe way to get a little starting cash. Once you have a semi-decent cobra or viper it's usually better cash per hour to fly around and shoot criminals

Damn, if only I knew how much discount will I get on Horizons if I own ED. If it's more than the price of ED now, I should buy it.

I thought you can swith the Frontier key for a Steam key. Steam should be more faster to download.

the latter. there's some rudimentary and kinda shitty random mission generator with continuous promises of improvement, but it got only a tiny bit better (and why the fuck they didn't do some unique, cool, preset missions at least for the faction ranks still boggles the mind)

Yeah, I'm all for space simulators, but my space pew pew is much more enjoyable with some decent characters, stories and missions to set it all up.

That decent character is the guy who tails you through three systems before blowing you up. Mocking you all the time. It's rare but player interaction does create some neat experiences.

It's Euro-truck simulator in space. If you don't think you'd enjoy from the sim perspective of piloting a spaceship then don't bother. Even in an 'open' server running into other players is a rarity.

no. nobody can follow you through 3 systems other than through blind luck. 1 is max and there's only 3 ways that can happen: 1) there's a big disparity in ship mass, speed and firepower/defences (i.e. something like a pirating clipper vs trading python or t7) so you need to highwake from normalspace or 2) you have no idea how the game mechanics work so to escape from someone instead of low+highwake you directly highwake, making it scannable, 3) you mistook some NPCs for players, as the NPCs are spawned by missions in the laziest, most obnoxious way imaginable

Actually yes, they can. He intercepted me three times. Two times I jumped from the interception. Guy's ship outclassed me massively. Last time I went to highwake and then back to low before jumping. No idea how he got me there. Probably through luck or an educated guess to where I was going.

Running into other players isn't that rare. Just go for the 'core' systems and you'll find a lot of player traffic.

While I wouldn't disagree with the notion that it would be more appropriately titled "Space Trucker: Onerous," encountering players is not at all rare. I just saw 6 on a single intraspace jump, and would say that I generally find them whenever I look for them while in frameshift.

Wow, that's unimpressive. I'm sure some people like that sort of gunk but.... wow... talk about tacking on an unfinished feature onto an unfinished feature. U^2 if you will.

What I don't like about ED is that it's cumulating to a bunch of minigames and a mish-mash of different mechanics which aren't that well connected. Let's hope that the whole moon flying and racing fits together and isn't just hopping from one instanced gameplay-element to another one.
