Project64 2.3 is out.
Does it contain malware? Is there something worth mentioning about it before we go back to retroarch/mendafen?
From reddit I understand that it has annoyware, it pings you every now and then to buy or something.

Citra devs first focus on accuracy rather than speed, which is why there are many unofficial builds of it. Once they will be done with core of emulator and none of systems in it will need huge reworks they will focus on speed.

It is longer process but in the end it will yield better emulator. PS2 emu pcsx2 was done with hacks in mind first then accuracy later and it's performance now lags behind emulators that emulate stronger hardware like Dolphin which like Citra put focus first on accuracy rather than speed for few people so that they can play some game.

Still Citra progress speed is amazing same as WiiU emulator.

Yeah Dolphin development logs made huge change in emulator community. And ton of projects try to emulate their approach.

When you "see" changes and what they are doing you are more hyped about putting more work into what you are doing.

BROS, it's like you don't even test...

Anyway, I decided to give the newest build of Citra a go (from emucr).
And it seems that adding sound emulation helped with some games.
For example, all EO games now boot, some of them work damn fine (EO4 at full speed).

SMT4 boots as well:

:incline:

So is Stella Glow (graphics seem borked, tho):

Newshit Waifu Emblem boots as well:

Some games still don't work in normal build, but work in haram build, which you can find here:

Those are both Bravelyz:

This build also fixes graffix in Stella Glow:

From my collection of 20 games, only 2 still don't boot: Zelda MM (you need an ingame save) and Phoenix Wright DD.
That is all. :obviously:

Glory to the flesh. Glory to the mass.

Well, maybe shit needs a save import or sth to go ingame.

*Edit:

There are no videos of this game running on Citra, so it's probably unsupported. :(

I'm not testing because waiting for new machine (with i7 onboard) and seems like there is already a lot of progress on Citra.
Still looking for good source of 3ds games, I got some on older platforms/handhelds but not for this one. Not fan of sailing seven seas too...

This. Plus getting decrypted games is a royal pain in the ass. Some .cia files I found weren't actually decrypted, so I couldn't use them with Citra.
People started making separate decrypted versions only recently. And now you can grab encrypted .3ds files, "online-ready" ;) but encrypted .cia files, decrypted .cia files (you have to convert those to .ccd format to use in citra) and even decrypted .3ds (good out of the archive). Good luck finding the ones you're looking for.
Still, with all this DRM or not, I was only able to find like ~20 interesting 3ds games - keep up the good job, devs, and there will be nothing interesting to pirate anyway...

But let's not make fun of 3DS, when there's WiiU. Speaking of which...

:prosper:

Oh well, not there yet. But shit's quite fast for such an early stage (60FPS in menus, more than 1-2 ingame).
Tested on newest Cemu, OFC.

So, all interesting WiiU games more or less work.

I tested Mednafen's Saturn emulation a bit more last night to record some missing vids for emumovies. For the first time Doom is finally playable but it's a horrible port with a shitty framerate, avoid. Was able to run and capture gameplay for a number of games that were borked in SSF or required old alpha builds such as Double Switch, Croc, Skeleton Warriors and DonPachi. Die Hard Trilogy is still about the only game left that is unplayable in all Saturn emulators and apparently quite a headache according to MESS devs. Oh well. PS1 version is basically the same thing.

I use 3dsiso.com as it has .cia versions. Site is shit, with a billion pop ups and scammy bastards that have downloads behind shitty slow sites(look for the mega download ones) but it's the most reliable site with .cia files of most releases. I have a couple of cheap 3ds's that I modded so .cia is pretty much necessary and this is about the only site that has a wide selection.

There's a grease monkey script you can use to bypass the ads redirect link things (which should work for anywhere using them). From one of the 3DS piracy FAQs (which I won't link because it has direct links to some games)
==================================================
-=DO YOU HATE AD LINKS/TIMED DOWNLOADS? SO DO I!=-
==================================================

Bypass linkbucks/adfly/other bullshit:
Install Greasemonkey if on Firefox
Install Tampermonkey if on Chrome

https://adsbypasser.github.io/
Install full edition
On *monkey settings, edit the adsbypasser script
Replace line 4716 with:
/^(([\w]{8}|www).)?(filesonthe|poontown|seriousdeals|ultrafiles|urlbeat|sasontnwc|eafyfsuh).net$/,
hit save

Also
get uBlock Origin
go Into uBlock's settings
go into My filters
add:
@@||195.154.75.196/$domain=multiup.org
to the "My filters" list and apply changes

https://github.com/reek/anti-adblock-killer#anti-adblock-killer--reek
Follow instructions on that page.

You can also convert .cia to .3ds if you have a hacked 3DS, but that defeats the point unless you want to play with enhancements

Having played this on original hardware (it's good if you can read the language, though anything off the crit path is fairly grindy and not for being too low a level either), I've got to say it looks way better at increased resolution. Shame the video doesn't have overworld footage as that is already really good looking and would look great in high res.

Update:

1) BD still requires save file to run:

2) DS-SH suffers frow slowdowns during FMVs:

3) PW-DD - nothing new, maybe you just need a savegame for this one, but I don't have it.

managed to find a website with working links to .3ds roms (turbo bit) and am currently removing from inventory the japanese-language 3ds "remix" version of elminage gothic. Will post how it runs when finished downloading.

does citre run .NDS roms as well? i tried running the japanese-language elminage 2 "remix" .nds rom on both DESMUME and on desmume-X432 but on both emulators the game averaged 15-20 fps, which is... unacceptable. (the game plays flawlessly on PSP emulation).

if the elminage gothic "remix" rom runs on citre then it is just a matter of using Tinke to replace some .csv files for the items/spells/monsters and they'll instantly be in english. i have tried and done this already with the .NDS rom of Elminage 2 "remix", i.e. using Tinke to replace its .csv files for items/spells/monsters with english-language versions, and it worked flawlessly.

the only problem is that elminage 2 "remix" runs like dog-shit on desmume so i moved over the same translation attempts to the psp version (which requires hex editing instead of simple file replacement).

So does Fire Emblem Fates run on citra? Aside from Rune Factory 4, thats pretty much the only game I really want an emulator for.
Fates I understand, but why RF4?

As far as I know, it got a digital only release in the European region around the same time as SMT4.
