Well the article said perished from the bombs, i guess radiation poisoning could be a possibility, when the bombs fell they didn't invent the tollbooth shelters yet or were they only for the very wealthy?

This just gets worse and worse the more I hear about it. Most of these "features" would be retarded even if Oblivion 2 was a completely new setting, not even a follow up to the awesome Fallout. It seems bethsoft thinks that "fantasy" or "post-apocalyptic" means there is no need whatsoever for any logical coherence. And the gaming media is lapping it up without question.

I feel as if I have walked into a parallel world where stupid is intelligent, and vice versa.

That's why humanity will die earlier than Cleve would've wanted to. Thanks to media people will become so dumb that they will forget how to breathe.

How did their post box survive when they didn't?
Radiation poisoning.
Fixed and Walter is right. They might have survived and become ghouls or sth. Still, barely surviving in a post-nuclear wasteland doesn't sound as inticing as living in a cozy vault, imho.

Oh I get it:
It's not supposed to be funny if the family got rejected by the Vault entry and they died from the lack of it.
That's not humorous. Neither in in an ironic nor in a bleak way. It's merely sad, if you feel empathy for some strangers that died a hundred years ago.

I don't get you guys! I agree that they failed to understand what bleak humour from original FO is, but nobody is telling you to laugh when you see two skeletons hugging eachother, or when you read the letter. Just pretend you don't know that Bethseda meant this to be funny and give your character emotions suitable to the situation. Isn't that the whole point of roleplaying?

the only thing that felt "fine" with me was the chinese message telling the people to surrender. Much of the rest is crap unlimited.

According to one of the stupid fanboys this review is fake and all reviews that contain something bad about f3 are either fake or misinterpreted. He also said "I can dress in that fallout 3 t-shirt and talk shit about the game too".

Guys, so maybe we are all wrong?

It was? I found it strange. Are the Chinese actually invading? Is there enough organisation left in the former US to oppose Chinese forces? Is there enough organisation left in the former US to surrender? Is it an old recording that is on loop? Are the Chinese as fucked as the former US and the radio message is just a ploy?
Out of context and without any explanation it poses too many question for me to feel "fine" with it. I also don't remember much about China from the first FOs. So maybe the answers would be obvious with that backround information... *shrug*

"HAHAHAHA look at those two skeletons hugging each other! Imagine the expression on their faces as their asses were made extra-crispy by the nuke blasts! Bet they didn't see that one coming LMAO!" *Vault Dweller pisses on their skulls*

"ZOMG this family got totally rejected for the Vault program! BUUUURNED! Better luck in the afterlife, suckers LOOOOOL!" *Vault Dweller takes a dump on the mailbox*

It's just as funny as the Trix rabbit always being denied a taste of his own cereal by bratty kids just because they greedily claim it for themselves. FO3's "dark humor" was clearly written by cruel 5-year-old bullies.

Well, my guess would be it's an old recording that the chinese have started somewhere in the middle of the nuclear war, and after they had the shit bombed out of them the single relay station that was transmitting it somehow survived, but everyone fled from it and probably they don't even know it's still working...

...somehow I have this feeling that I just thought about it more than the devs which just said "hey, a radio transmission would be cool''.

I really don't care about their lame attempts at humour. It's not like Fallout's (even more so Fallout 2's) throwaway gags and references would seem so much more sophisticated in comparison when taken out of context, but these two lines really broke my heart:

Fallout 3's nuts and bolts were something of a mystery, but it's a mystery you'll solve the instant you lay thumbs on the sticks. Fallout 3 is a true Fallout game, with all the wit, character and themes of the old games: more than that, Fallout 3 is Oblivion 2.

I mean, we all knew it would come to this, but they don't have to rub it in like that.

The last part is the final cock stab on the ass.

MORE THAN THAT, F3 = OB2

*long sigh*

Fallout 3 is about the little details, and they're everywhere. While much of Oblivion was generated procedurally using software designed to create a credible landscape, Bethesda's follow-up is a genuinely hand-made game, where every burned book, ruined home, and story told by the ruins themselves was carefully designed, as Istvan explains: "The art team went cell-by-cell. There's not a single piece of the game that hasn't been touched by hand. It's not procedurally generated - we didn't want to do that this time. Every rock you see, every tree, was placed by hand."
This is actually good news. I trust even a medicore artist far more than a sophisticated procedural generator to create interesting landscapes.

As for all the rest.... uh. Depressing, but not much new.

Better than GTA? Better than Gears of War? That thar is some mighty big hype (contrast that with the Call of Duty 5 "zero hype" claim).

Again? You'd think they'd have run dry by now. I guess that just proves who the real men are.

Black Isle is turning in its grave. Everyone saw this coming all along though, so no surprise here.

Hey where is "better than Fallout"? Oh wait there is a 3 behind it, so it must be.
8 pages exclusive
2 pages full of old screenshots, 4 pages with information from the other magazines and the other two with some standard Pete Hines interview. Very exclusive.

The magazine cover is hilarious! "Bigger than moby dick , more addictive than Heroin , better than sex" ...all facts-nohype.

Are people still buying these crappy game magazines?

Even worse. They are buying those crappy magazines and then they go and buy those games that are bigger than moby dick and better than sex. The worst thing is that they buy the hype and believe every word of it.
