It's probably really fun for a few hours, not as a RPG per se, but as a game. And then the inevitable repetition and stupidity set in. Just like I felt about Oblivion. Enjoyed it for a while, then hated it immensely.

# Raiders are observed "clearly thinking and plotting before rushing into combat". Enemies will make good use of cover, according to Todd, except if they're too badass to take cover like the super mutants.

This is... heck, this is just too funny

IM TOO EXTREME TO TAKE COVER I DONT CARE IF I GET SHOT BY DOZENS OF MACHINE GUNS ILL JUST STAND THERE AND DO NOTHING

Why do I have the feeling that *every* character in the game will be too badass to take cover?

It's official. The game is shitty in every aspect.

Was that Fallout or FPS #9382?

2. Why did the Enclave attack Todd? In FO 2 it made sense because they didn't want anyone finding out about their base. Yet in FO 3 they apparently want become the official government of the people again with... mindlessly killing everyone?

What were those Enclave robots playing ridiculous march music that Todd was so extatic about? Kind of ridiculous for an organization bent on exterminating all the "non-humans" to dispatch portable radios for everyone's hearing pleasure?

Was that Fallout or FPS #9382?

And not particular good-looking one, with no 'feel' to the weapons and horrible animations, I might add.

Ignoring that it's a Fallout game, and just looking at it as a shooter, it looks... alright...

If this wasn't Fallout 3 and made by a big developer that can hype the shit out of it, I don't think anyone would really be paying attention to it. Everything felt generic. The weapons didn't look intriguing or have any wow factor. VATS looked cool the *first* time it was used, but by the time the video was up I was already tired of it interrupting gameplay with the same animations over and over again.

But you can make people explode so I'm sure it will be big with the 13 - 18 crowd.

HAHAHAHAHAAHA!!!.... (sorry but the laughter is uncontrollable after watching it)

That game is even a higher pile of shit than i would have ever imagined. It really hurts to see Fallout in egoperspective. Its just so wrong.

Dear god. I'd ruled it out as an RPG a looong time ago, but assumed they may still produce a relatively enjoyable shooter in there (albeit one I wouldn't touch). But looking at that video, it doesn't even look remotely fun as a shooter.

The gunplay doesn't seem particularly satisfying at all, I mean the combat shotgun's sounds and animations are terribly lacklustre, as is the laser fire. Using VATS also not only looked ridiculous, but seemed to be nearly useless when fighting a group. When he took on a few raiders or whatever, in the time it took for the camera to give him back control he had been peppered with shots by the survivors and had no momentum. Seems he'd have been better off just staying in FPS mode and straffing about.

Propaganda bots, what the fuck? Also why the fuck is there what looks to be a well stocked shop, with nicely stocked shelves standing untouched, with no roof, walls, or attendant in the middle of nowhere? They really haven't got a clue.

Todd sounds like he's 15 years old.

*RAIDER HEAD CRIPPLED!!111* was just... awkward...

And of course in the trailer he is playing the 'combat guy'. Why not the brave diplomat? Oh yeah, because it's probably almost impossible.

"There's a turret out there, I can hack it. BUT INSTEAD I'LL MAKE IT GO BOOM LOL!"

the VATS is also nothing spectacular even though it was supposed to be "oh lawd so cool and cinematic". Big deal, it just shows the bullet's flight path, Max Payne had that years ago.

Even if it wasn't related to Fallout in any way I would definitely pass on this game. The gunplay is very dry and VATS looks annoying. God knows what dialogs are going to be like. FO3 doesn't even have good graphics. Maybe this gameplay segment they decided to showcase isn't the best and the game might be somewhat better overall... but this does not look like a good game by any means. Not as a shooter, and almost certainly not as an RPG.

Yeah, right. I'm already fucking sick of him reducing the entire franchise to Bloody Mess.

Also, this is nitpicking, but it didn't look like they've improved their animations even one bit. It's almost the exact same awkward shit as in Oblivion, but with different models.

I haven't played any of those extremely boring shooters and such, so I have to admit that FOblivion's FPSness and guns seem pretty good to me.

Now that you mention it. Beth seems to be thinking that Bloody Mess and swearing was all that made Fallout great and unique.

Did you notice that Todd called the bot an Ibot :?:

I think maybe Apple will have a say in this....
I smell a huge lawsuit coming the Bethesday way... unless they've asked permission of course...

I mean, couldn't this be seen as copyright infringement :?:

I'm sorry for the icons, but I'm totally shocked that Bethesda apprently can't be creative enough to come up with own name instead of ripping of another company's name for one of its gadgets.

I agree that the VATS combat looks terrible, just terrible. The FPS comebat looked rather OK to me, but then again, I'm not that an avid FPS player.

Anyway, if I weren't aware that Todd was showing a demo for Fallout 3, I wouldn't have noticed or known it was Fallout 3. It looked just like another shooter...

I'm pretty sure the robot's name is actually spelt "Eye-Bot"... given it's eye like shape. Though I wouldn't put it past Todd to be hip and go with the "i".

For the record Apple don't own the letter "i". Theres the BBC's iPlayer, iRobot, iTeddy and lots more -- some older than the iMac/pod too.

Right, where is the video that shows these great dialog choices and stealth gameplay? This is why i fear Fallout 3 will be just a RTwP first person shooter. Bethesda is avoiding showing something that matches Fallout best rpg elements and game play variety. What are they afraid of?

I can't stomach playing a Fallout game as fucking shooter with fake dialog choices. These two game play modes are important enough to deserve a video demonstrating each one.

I'd love to see the diplomatic approach to dealing with a Behomoth, or Enclave helicopter assault.

Mindlessly killing everyone sounds like the government the US already has. lol political commentary.
