You can find a full Fusion Core for the power armor in the gas station right next to where you start BTW
L0L

That fucking CoD sequence with the armor tho.

I don't give a shit about how many players Dota2 had. I say Fallout 4 will sell remarkably less than FO3.

Not like you need the power armor anyway. There's nothing dangerous enough to justify using it.

It also fucking sucks how every Fallout game has to be done as if the PC was a vault dweller. Every fucking game has to have a vault suit and a pip boy.

And the Ink Spots
And Dogmeat
And Power Armor
And everything else.

"Hey, look at FO1 and FO2 success. Players love post-apocalyptic-50s Themed-survival RPGs, let's do more of those!"

Ummm no. We love original ideas and well made games. But when you point a finger to the moon, the fool just watches the finger.

Making the vaults into experiments was the worst thing they could have ever done to the lore.
Who "they", the original creators of the lore back in '90s?
It also fucking sucks how every Fallout game has to be done as if the PC was a vault dweller. Every fucking game has to have a vault suit and a pip boy. Ok, you might kill a random vault dweller, chop his arm and equip his pip boy, but please drop the Protagonist is a Vault Dweller thing. It's as annoying as Protagonist is a Prisoner. At least in Morrowind it was symbolic.
FO1 - vault dweller
FO2 - not a vault dweller
(Tactics - not a vault dweller)
-- bet(hesd)a took reins --
FO3 - vault dweller
(F:NV - not a vault dweller)
FO4 - vault dweller

So not every Fallout game, just the first one and the shit ones. With the prisoner protagonist I can agree with. Just imagine they'd stop taking prisoners in Tamriel, instead executing everyone. There'd be no more heroes to save the world.

Oddly enough, games like Stalker or even Metro feel more like Fallout (1) than other Fallout games. And those are straight action shooters, Metro is even made of corridors. In the right hands, a Fallout action game without rpg elements could be enjoyable. But Bethesda is too old to innovate at this point... they never innovated, but they presented their stuff in a way that was easy to consume for the general public.

A GTX 780 would preform just as good as a 980 - 60-70 fps in the majority of areas, slightly less when you're in the woods and have the shadowing at a hight setting. They are just insistant on pushing the newest line of cards.

So they combined Fallout with The Sims?
:nocountryforshitposters::what::avatard::dead:
Maybe I should've actually paid some attention to the development.

Anyone done those early BoS quests you get from Paladin Danse (dense amirite) where you have to track down emergency radio calls of some BoS squads? I've done them all now, want to return the quest to that guy, only to be brought to the BoS ship and getting him as a possible companion. When talked to him, no mention of the earlier quest thanks to this awesome dialogue system. So, just a warning for you guys, turn that quest in before you do quests in diamond city.

Also consider they do this with all the shitty post processing effects like bloom, depth of field, etc. enabled. Most people here would turn these off as a matter of taste.

Who "they", the original creators of the lore back in '90s?

Yes and no. The vaults were explained as an experiment after Fallout 1. There was a point between 2 and the writing of the Bible where the vaults were established as social experiments. In the bible it's like that because it was meant as a backup for pnp sessions, if I remember correctly, so having vaults as social experiments (plus not giving a complete list of which vault did what thing) helped roleplaying under this perspective.

FO1 - vault dweller
FO2 - not a vault dweller
(Tactics - not a vault dweller)
-- bet(hesd)a took reins --
FO3 - vault dweller
(F:NV - not a vault dweller)
FO4 - vault dweller

FO1 - vd
FO2 - related to a VD, you wear a vault suit
Tactics - Not a VD, but that game is barely canon, and it even disrespected BoS lore before 3, but who cares at this point
BoS - the original VD himself makes an appearance, and he's even a male character, so a female VD for FO1 could be non-canon
FO3 - vd
New Vegas - not a VD but you wear a vault suit at the start. I do liked how they handled the vaults in this game, though. More like dungeons and places to loot and explore rather than plot elements.
FO4 - vd.

The vaults are there, always, because for the general public the Fallout series *is* about the vaults. I don't have a problem with the vaults being present in games, but I don't like how almost always the starting gear *has* to be a vault suit and a pip boy. I'd be very glad if we have more spinoffs without forcing you to be related to vaults and vault dwellers. Fallout Shelter even has you managing your own vault, ffs.

I have to point out that all the negative reviews on Steam are hidden just beneath the surface on the store page. Shills gonna shill.

^ Yep, that's a long-ass picture.

After playing about an hour of it, I've already had enough. Getting it working was a pain in the ass. It's stuttery as FUCK even at 50+fps, and nothing I did got it working perfect. I managed to, at most, lessen the stuttering somewhat. The UI is some of the worst I've seen and surprisingly it's worse than Skyrim's or FO3's vanilla UIs. The button mapping is awful, and there's no consistency in what button does what. Depending on the interface you're seeing, tab might be the return button, or it might be esc. Tab might also be the key that cycles through menus, you never know. Seems to have been done at random. The "use" button also changes depending on whatever the fuck. Anyway I think that mapping "melee" to the same key as "throw grenade" speaks for itself. I might even play this clunky mess again a few years down the line, when mods have fixed the offensively bad stuff and all patches have been released. I don't know about you guys, but I think this might be Bethesda's worst release yet.

Presumably you're not throwing grenades at point blank or meleeing from 20 feet so that sounds like a good way of not wasting keys.

Jesus Christ look at these choice picks from that same review. Fucking casuals I swear to god:
When Fallout 3 arrived, it was a gigantic leap forward for not just the franchise, but it helped shape the open world sandbox genre that has positively exploded in the marketplace the past few years. Fallout 3 was enormous, beautiful and revolutionary.
There’s next to no aim assist at all making it feel clunkier than any other shooter on the market.

And for all of the complaints he gave it, it ended up with an 8.5??? All of things he complained about and it didn't get lowered to at least 6 or 7?

6-10 has long been the the 0-10 scale.

Yeah, I laughed at the autoaim complaint too. I guess it's a real issue when playing with a gamepad.

BS like that made me drop consoles for PC once my family got a good enough computer.

I find it so damn funny since then that consoles still stick with gamepads for FPS games instead of recognizing their limitations and developing something better to use.

You press the melee key for melee, and if you have a grenade equipped (only when equipped) you hold it down for a few seconds. It seems to work well.
