One of the most retarded quests ever created?

You really talked up the npcs in Megaton and didn't come away thinking that setting off the nuke was a public service?
Why would a Vault Dweller, who...
  • just emerged from a vault
  • has no sense of how the overworld looks and acts like
  • definitely needs all the help he can get (besides measly 250 caps)
  • can even easily disarm the bomb with a 25 explosive skill
  • has no idea who the quest giver even is (Tenpenny Tower is not being addressed as another hub)
nuke a fortified settlement of non-hostile inhabitants?

Please give me a reason, besides a psychopath playthrough, why anyone would EVER do the evil path of that particular quest. It's unbelievable how fucking awful the quest design of this quest is.
You can nuke Megaton and then let ghouls to massacre everyone in the Tower. Double win

So in Fallout 3 you could drink dirty water out of toilets and sinks throughout the game. But it was nothing more than a novelty because there was no thirst mechanic in the game and stimpacks were abundant enough that you were never desperate enough to need to drink out of the toilets for the meager health it would give you.

In Fallout 4 they introduced a whole Survival mode which makes it a requirement to drink water or you fucking die. But you can't drink from any of the toilets or sinks in the game. How Retarded is Bethesda, actually?

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Maybe they realized that there shouldn't be any water in old sinks and toilets. Doubt though.

There are working sinks. Most don't work. But even Vault 111 has a working sink. You can also build your own working sinks at a settlement. A fun way to deal with settlements in survivial (exluding sanctuary) is to make each of them your own base, while getting rid of any inhabitants. That way you always have a bed, crafting stations, a stove and some working sinks.

Settlement building is gay. It's called survival mode, I expect to have to find things in the environment to survive. Not run back to a 'settlement' for a drink of water.

Just plop a fucking sink down then. Or, find the working sinks.

I went to
The Institute! Planned to free my son. Turns out my son is now an old man who runs the entire place. I think I was supposed to be convinced by his story but I ended up shooting him because he seemed creepy and dismissive about past events. Quite a mind fuck. Then I got shouted at by the Brotherhood boss. I don't think he wanted me to do that but he was happy I completed the mission and he respected me for standing by my actions. Lol.
Wild game.

p.s. I love jumping off the Prydwyn.

Settlement building predates survival mode. The launch version of survival difficulty was just the damage modifiers from very hard with slowed healing.

The thirst mechanic became official in New Vegas' hardcore mode. The issue is that their item dlc included a canteen that made this a non issue. In Jsawyer's mod, the extra items at the beginning are spread around the game's world and put in stashes you have to find. That makes you have to deal with it for real for like an hour or two at least.

Drinking out of toilets was one of the few improvements Bethesda brought to new Fallout. Toilet drinking really elevated the series to new heights so it's a shame they've regressed just one game later. Even more shameful than omitting spears from the elder scrolls.

Far Harbor is more annoying than I remember, particularly on survival mode. Nearly every group of enemies you encounter has at least one legendary mob among them. I'm always having to run back to town to buy more ammo because they soak up so much damage.

Dima's memories is fucking bullshit. What starts off as an interesting novelty of delving into the mindblocks of a synth, turns out there's only a couple of lines of Dima's memory logs near the beginning. And then you're left stacking boxes repetitively for up to an hour by yourself. I feel like the game is treating me like a child by putting me in a playpen and giving me megablocks to keep me distracted.

The box stacking was going on for so long I forgot why I was even doing it, since it's so devoid of actual content. Like, holy shit, at least give the player a little more exposition. I'm fucking falling asleep to this shit.

These god damn synths..

I last played through Far Harbor 8 years ago, so I had forgotten. But it's all coming back to me now with the whole Avery replacement thing. First thing I did when I confronted Dima about it was condemn him for it, and he responded by acting guilty and torn by what he had done. So then I reloaded my save and tried the sympathetic option and he straight up asks me to kill another person for him so he can replace them. What a creepy piece of shit.

Now I remember why I always end up siding with the Brotherhood in this game. The railroad are faggots. All synths and all synth sympathizers must all perish in fire.

Well, I guess Fallout 4's gonna have to be in the next Codex Top 10 RPGs...

Hot take: this isn't the right way to improve Fallout 4.

The right way to improve Fallout 4 was to get a proper New Vegas 2 by a completely other studio..
Which other studio would you want to make New Vegas 2?
Larian, of course!

I can see it now - the game starts with the character creator. Choose the genitals and pronowns of your supermutant or ghoul. After that, your character is on an airship that crash lands on a beach somewhere with seemingly no day/night cycles. The first act has you wandering aimlessly into different hysterical encounters (Larian's humor is perfect for Fallout).

It will have turn based combat just like the originals. So it will be a return to form on that front. But you will be able to cast special abilities and buffs for you and up to 4 diverse allies. Each combat encounter will be rich with tactical decisions such as lighting an oil spill on fire or exploding a radiation barrel which will create deadly AOE combinations.

Romances will be included. The bisexual androgynous ghoul companion will be the popular choice.
