Actually the reason why healers abandoned the role is because they simplified the dps part and streamlined AST's buffs.
yea well they should uhhh

remove the dps part lmao

yea I forgot to add that healer design is completely fucking ass
healers(all of them) are expected to juggle two roles simultaneously, shockingly very few people want to play them because this doesn't appeal to people who want to actually play healers instead of dps that sometimes throw a heal out every so often

I just started conjurer/whm only because at least it doesnt feel as restricted the jobs I played before (no combos etc). But I agree the main complaint here is the "always do something" combat system.

I really have no love for the 'active' combat in many newer MMOs that just amounts to a small -- often static -- rotation of minor abilities on an arbitrary GCD. I'm sure there's a way to make an MMO that has more interesting action-based combat, but I haven't seen it yet. I often feel like it's just busywork.
The signature abilities of a dragoon, jump attacks, would be near worthless(other than the ones that are gap closers) if they weren't off-gcd abilities because the damage is pitiful compared to the standard 1-2-3 combo. This just feels wrong. I'd gladly trade tedious combos for powerful, job-defining abilities.

also, many of the CD abilities feel pitiful and are just minor +% damage on long CDs. This game feels very :balanced:, if I didn't like the story so far and the crafting I'd probably quit already tbh
:littlemissfun::littlemissfun::littlemissfun:

animations are pretty cool though

[edit]
oh yea and there's no real support classes because they're hard to balance

What about more action based mmos like black desert online, what do you think of those, or are you mostly into tab-target combat?

It's worth it to play it at least once for the combat alone, get to a reasonable lvl like 58 or 59 as you unlock most of your class abilities at that point.
There's big exp boosts these days.

yo wtf they killed my homie
This should be the game's tagline.
do you now see why its written with healers in mind

'yo they killed my homie :)'
Yeah, in some cases (bootleg Anor Londo) a healer would've helped, but in others (putting a guy in the white crystal Pokeball for the first time) it wouldn't have.
You mean the scene where you throw a piece of quartz 2 meters forward?

its about the system itself thats annoying
The only thing annoying about it is that the developers decided to pander to the shit eaters and they simplified the DPS possibilities of the healers. Edit: while keeping the ridiculously large arsenal of healing skills available.

If I'm playing a healer I don't want to dps, this isn't a hard concept.

Well don't be one in this game then, most players expect the healers to DPS to clear content faster.

And clearly this is an issue considering that healers are nearly always the role in need in the duty finder.

This game feels like it's designed for ADHD weebs who watched too much Naruto.

And, again, the reason why so many healers quit is because they simplified the DPS aspect. Good healers know to weave their cooldowns in such a way that they don't ever GCD heal. They make room for dealing damage. And since they killed Scholar and simplified Astrologian good healers are just too bored to play middling content. The only healers who didn't quit were the white mages and that's because, and I quote the developers, it's the healer for literal retards and everybody else was dragged down to their level.

I would think it's more of people do not want the responsibility of healing.
And I've seen good ones who manages to out-DPS actual DPS classes (usually White Mages)

I really don't think there's like super fast ADHD class in the game other than maybe... Ninja and Monk?
Classes like Samurai and Mechanists are slow ones and does high DPS.

Can't say much about healers as I usually don't heal as I dislike managing other people's health bars.

I've played healers in most western MMO's. From Templar in EQ2 to Bounty Hunter in SWTOR and Holypal in WoW.
Healer is a support class, and as such he's better to support group in the most effective way.
Sometimes it's by healing people, and sometimes it's by dealing damage.
If a healer does not deal damage he's not playing to his full potential.
And those who just want to sit on their thumbs or pick their noses while there's nothing to heal are just shit healers, that could be replaced by fucking healing potions.
