Yeah, but do we count only those that never returned? I mean, bossjimbob got kinda pissed at us when we mocked his Dungeon Siege interview, but he's participating now. Miko, however, is going to be immortalized.

Here's a thought: When Calis and Deathy go through and purge all the inactive accounts left over from the Slashdotting (like the guy who registered three times and never posted outside one thread), why not tag a few people with "Obstinate PR Flack" images a la DAC's "Spammer" tag? Probably this'll include "Patryn of Elvenshae," the most pretentious pseudo-fantasy alias I've seen on this board since a certain Defender of the Developers. The one who started a thread about pie.

God, I hate people who sign posts with their character sheet.

XJEDX: I refer you to this quote from SP's email he posted on page 1 of this thread.

Oh, when I said it was simple. I mean that. It's professional
courtesy. Treat people with that, they tend to treat you the same
way.

This sounds to me like SP thinks of himself as a professional since he is demanding to be treated with professional courtsey. Now if it isn't a professional journalist, then what kind of professional courtesy is he expecting from people who work on a news site?

I can take almost anyone walking around in their underwear in their own home if that's how they wish to present themselves when they have company over. Personally, I like to clean up the place a little bit and make sure I'm dressed before friends come over and if one of my guests notices that their host is having a problem, I can count on them to talk to me about it.

What I continually find amazing about the Internet is that the lack of accountability seems to breed this "I can be a jerk and no one can do anything about it" attitude. It's almost like some people have been given too much freedom but refust to take any responsibility for it at all. What's worse is that some people actually defend this behaviour instead of attempting to apply a well deserved "virtual attitude adjustment" to the individual.

Since this is not the first time I've seen SP start threads in this manner, I can only guess that it's because SP either lacks or chooses not to use good judgement. Regardless, this behaviour does nothing but lessen the value I place in his other opinions.

That's what being anonymous gets you. You use an alias (unless your mother was rather cruel, in whch case, apologies), because almost everyone does and to offer your identity some protection, and so do I. The unfortunate part is that many people think this gives them some kind of carte blanche to be dicks.

I was in a beta and we all had include our real names in our signatures, and it was pretty remarkable how different the tone of the forum changes.

As far as taking responsiblity for one's actions, i think that's largely driven by America and <sarcasm>our superior legal system</sarcasm>. I mean, you can burn yourself on a cup of coffee here and sue the purveyor. What the hell is that?

You bought it?
Yes.
You knew it was hot?
Yes.
Infact, you wanted it hot?
Yes.
And, under your own power, you raised it to you mouth?
Yes
And then you burned yourself with it?
Yes
Well, here's $400,000 for your pain and suffering....

Meh, whichever. Professional, as we've been reminded many times in this thread, means that one gets PAID for what they do. SP earns a salary of saying whatever he wants on his site, not money. Fine by me; I dig his schtick, and that's why I stick around here. Why do you? It's like moving to Portland and then continually complaining about the rain...

Psilon: I didn't want to mention the pretension, but you nailed it. Should see his avatar on the Bio forums.

Ex: Your new sig scares me. There is no privacy on the net.

Sorry guys I had to resurrect this thread after reading it. Its been the highlight of my morning.

Saint: you keep doin yo thing, dog. [/ebonics]

I really like this quote from deep in the thread:

Saint doesn't want to be a professional journalist. This is his house, and he wants to be a grumpy old man who walks around in his underwear and slippers screaming at the TV and the neighbors and posting kooky signs in his window. The reason most of us are here is because we enjoy being a part of all this. Don't hang around someone's house if you don't like them or their holey underwear.

Look down...its already my new sig.

Keep on truckin, codex!

This thread is as funny as it was first time around. I love the legal threats they make.

Our old host had a popup, but since we've moved to the califragiexplodalicious Sorcerers.net, we don't have to deal with them anymore.

whats this about pop ups, i never get any pop ups. you blokes must have some sort of spyware installed or using a dodgy browser.
My guess is that this was before RPG Codex got pop up free. I mean, it's been a couple of days since this thread was started, has it not?

Agree with Teatime. This thread is hilarious. And proof that GamerShell isn't that professional as they make it up.

well, i'm a graduated journalist (seriously). there is no excuse in the world for stolen text. in any real newspaper or magazine if you do this you are fired.

any serious media vehicle won't go to a forum warn the guys who accused it for plagiarism. this guys would only check things with some lawyers.

i suppose most game websites writers never spent a day in journalism school.

I still laugh at this. What kind of moron sends a developer questions and then doesn't even recognize their own questions before they post maybe the one article they might have to work on all day...and then boast about getting paid for it?

Comedy gold. :)

Gamer's Hell... I hate them more than GameSpy! Their useless website always clogs up my Google search matches, "thanks" to evil SEO tactics like including the word Screenshots in the page title, even if they don't fucking have any screenshots for that game. I wonder what they're proud of.. that they have a 90% retard market share? I hope those losers do go to gamer's hell, right there with Herve Caen.

HA!

I did the same thing with Gamespy at Blood and shadows!

http://s13.invisionfree.com/Kaleem/inde ... c=260&st=0

I posted private E-mails and called their "journanlist" an idiot over an Oblivion article.

He came to Blood and Shadows and the shit feast ensued.
But he wasn't brave enough to actually post on the site. He would look to see what everyone said about him and then reply through E-mails!

Saint Proverbius went nuts just like I did but if someone had plagiarized content on Blood and Shadows without giving credit I would have went apeshit.

Saint Proverbius 1 Gamershell 0. I always laugh when they actually call themselves "professional gaming journalists" with pride. I probably couldn't think of a bigger insult than labelling yourself a games journalists.
