... such as Another World (1991) and its descendants Ico (2001) and Shadow of the Colossus (2005)

I like your posts but sometimes you should just be clubbed with a baseball bat.

First of all, the most... obvious, textbook, spiritual successors to Another World (1991) are Heart of Darkness (1998) and Flashback (1992), in that order. Like many other games, Ico takes some influence from Another World, but in terms of execution, presentation and gameplay it's different. Shadow of the Colossus is one of the worst shites ever released and is nothing like Another World. Even the Abbe's Oddysee games make way more sense.

I liked that it had casting spells with one hand, firing weapons with the other (at the same time). Haven't seen another FPS do that.
Bioshock2.
Arguably skyrim as well.

That's exactly the problem. People trying to make everything political nowadays. You hear fucking Sawyer say, uhhh, if Wizardry was made today, it would not be an RPG uhh. No bro, we don't have to reinvent *everything*. Jesus Christ.

Not everything is about "muh politics" and obsession about trannies like on the Codex. Language evolves constantly, anyone with half a brain knows this. Definition of "art" changed when films were invented and started to be considered "art", same with video games or what ever comes in the future.

Also, Flashback is not a "spiritual successor" to Another World, it was made at the same time by different people.

My thoughts when "video games are not art".

Monkey Island music is masterwork. Even not considering the feat of rewriting it for a lot of the sound hardware available at the time. It even sounds good on pc speaker.

And then there's the imuse system for transitioning seamlessly between tracks, introduced in Monkey Island 2

Art isn't just about looking pretty, but science and technology behind it. How do you make an opera house have kino acoustics? How do you build a big beautiful building? How do you make paintings have cool and weird optical illusions and stuff? This is how. Monkey Island demonstrates mastery of the medium.

I remember iMuse. They also had the same system (different name) in the Xwing or Tie Fighter games. Love Monkey Island 1/2 tracks.

Definition of "art" changed when films were invented
Oh! So films were invented during the renaissance?! I didn't know!

So the definition of art evolved by excluding the majority of crafts that would be considered art, and also evolved enough so it could also be mistaken with the product of art? Such an evolution that was.

Now we have this super evolved word, that means nothing, and we can now argue if X is art, or not, and whatever outcome that discussion leads to, will leave us exactly where we was, because it wont change a thing. We dont react to a product differently because its, or not, considered art. I mean, besides retards looking at a signed urinol.
