Ba'al goes down pretty quick with a warrior, the fact you're on the air while slashing him is like free evade lol

I originally played Ego Draconis and got up to Sentinel Isle then quit, for a number of reasons but mostly because of the slow-down making gameplay very difficult.

Now playing Dragon Knight Saga it's like a totally different game. An awesome RPG and I'm loving every moment of it, especially after having just played Two Worlds 2 which made me realize how great this game is. Definitely recommended.

I'm playing as a ranger at the moment - not sure if this will be viable without some good melee/magic however as i tend to get hurt in dungeons because my stun ability has too long a cooldown.

Once you have your creature it becomes easier for a ranger. Although it can't hold aggro forever, it will be helpful with rushing to the enemies and absorbing some damage.

As I said before, found ranger pretty boring. Explosive arrow and split shot ability are very powerful although I was limited by mana all the time.

That's a glittering recommendation to play them.

5 points in Mana Efficiency = Never worry about mana again. I found ranger to be the most powerful so far. Way of The Ranger maxed lasts for 2 minutes and gives about 500% damage increase.

Has anyone noticed how creature no longer pisses? In ED it would take a piss once in a while - ok, basically it would take a piss all the time - but they removed that. Why?

Never tried Mana Efficiency. After rolling a warrior just took one point in mana leech skill and it was all the mana in the world I needed. This skill is somewhat broken because with only one point you leech so much I could use my skills anytime I wanted, even Thousand Strikes.

Yes, warrior is the only one that doesn't need Mana Efficiency due to one point in Mana Leech being powerful enough.

A Critical Strike oriented warrior (I managed to squeeze a 76% critical hit with my gear) with Thousand Strikes instakills everyone on any difficulty. And I really mean everyone, including both final bosses.

Thousand Strikes is indeed powerful but it can only kill one enemy at the time. Ranger with Splitting Arrows followed by Explosive Arrow is something different.

Divinity 2 swings and suffers critical failure, hitting itself for -500 kool kredits through the usage of the phrase 'The cake is a lie' :x

I wish there was more to the combat in this game, than just clicking the enemy to death.

And I wish the jerky camera movement in closed spaces didn't give me epilepsy.

But otherwise, this game does have a lot of charm, I guess. Hope it gets better later 'cause I'm pretty early in the game.

It does get better, though it depends what build you're playing. I found battlemages ridiculously fun after leaving Broken Valley; diving in and out of the fray, pulling back to heal and fire off magic missiles, rush attacking back in to mix up melee and close-range magic abilities. It was still occasionally samey, but it was mostly good fun and I kept it varied with little conscious effort on my part.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Broke down and bought the DKS. Finished the original twice but my saves are no longer compatible. :rage:

Also, I didn't notice any changes. I don't even have any new skills on the list as far as I can tell. WTF is this shit?

You get another chapter of the story (FoV), this time more RPG-like in nature. The DKS version also alters the flying fortresses (for the worse IMO, but you might find the changes welcome if you were completely fed up with them), many unique items and new set, changed set locations (so that some pieces may still be hidden, but don't require searching every inch of every flying fortress), skill and enchantments rebalance, loot randomization shifted towards higher end stuff (so you can find epic or unique quality stuff before the endgame) and reduced contribution of level to damage calculations.

How are the flying fortresses changed? Can i still leave the towers for last to maximize experience gain?

Also, I heard there's no dragon form in the expansion. is that true?

They're not mandatory, you can just head straight to the teleporter in dragon form and drop onto it. You do have to be pretty quick/precise to get to it before being slaughtered by explosive arrows, but there are no hard barriers like those that forced you to crawl through the entire fortress before. And kind of, you only go into dragon form for one longish sequence at the very end.
