I found the first Eschalon demo to be boring, but I hope someone here can say I was wrong about the game and recommend the trilogy for $16.

Nope, if you didn't like the demo it isn't going to get a lot better.

My impression after playing Eschalon Book I is that the game is essentially 2D hiking simulator immersion RPG aka The Mini-Elder Scroll.

Yeah. If you love exploration and old school graphics they are solid games. If you want more than that, no.

Actually Latin and Greek are the languages of incline. Anglo-Saxons and Germanic languages are the speak of people that brought decline upon the world.

Same here. I'm cautiously curious about the game. It has an interesting look to it, but I normally don't like action RPGs so I plan to wait until some good Codexer gives us his or her thoughts.

GOG is selling the following games for "up to 80% off":

    http://www.gog.com/promo/strategy_g...4?pp=cb4e5208b4cd87268b208e49452ed6e89a68e0b8

    Age of Wonders: $3
Age of Wonders Shadow Magic: $5
    Age of Wonders 2: $5
Battle Realms and Winter Wolf: $4
    King of Dragon Pass: $2.40
Overlord w/ Raising Hell Expansion: $4
    Cossacks Anthology: $2.40
    Nexus: $4
    Uplink: $1.20
    DEFCON: $2
    Darwinia: $2
    Multiwinia: $2
    Galactic Civilizations 1: $4
    Fragile Alliance: $2.40
    American Conquest Fight Back: $2.40
    Eador Genesis: $2.40
    Zafehouse Diaries: $4
    Heroes of Annihilated Empires: $4

Out of the above games, I've played but never beat King of Dragon Pass and Uplink. At their price I have to say that King of Dragon Pass is a steal. I liked Uplink fine enough, but there is a sort of 'permadeath' in the game. Normally I like that sort of thing, especially in rogue-likes such as ADOM and Zangband, but the problem with Uplink is that there isn't enough variance to each new game to keep it interesting, so having to start all over actually kills the fun. Still, it's an interesting game and you can't go wrong for a little more than a dollar. I'm going to pick up Battle Realms since it has Five Stars on GOG and people here seem to like it. Anyone else want to make some recommendations from this list?

Sudeki looks extremely interesting to me, apart from its crapass manga art direction.

Is it strictly linear or is there any kind of sidequesting or free roam? Can you build your character into more than a hackyslashy sword dude?
