Anyone know if that Crookz game is any good? Seems like a decent enough premise.
As a heist fanatic, you better believe I was all over that. Verdict: It was better than average for a heist game (which is a horribly represented genre), but it's a bad bet for non-heist/non-puzzle fans.

THE SHORT OF IT
Writing - bad to abominable, and there's a lot of it
70s setting - Unused beyond artwork
Voice acting - robotic
Unlockable skills - locking prime heist skills away until later (such as the ability to crawl through air vents) that make the game more enjoyable is dumb
Stealing stuff - always fun

Thanks -- I've bought this game twice. A UK version on eBay which didn't work with Windows 7 because of StarForce (the demo worked just fine), and on Steam recently which didn't work on Windows 10 (just blacked screened me, got a refund though).

JudasIscariot: Can you confirm it works on Windows 10?

I remember this. Bought full price on release. Played to completion, liked it. I was wondering why I never saw a new game by the same devs...

House of Tales released two games after MoS.
Overclocked: A History of Violence (http://store.steampowered.com/app/339850/). I liked it when I played it 6 years ago.
15 Days (http://store.steampowered.com/app/342990/). Never played it as it received bad reviews, I think HoT died before 15 Days could be properly finished.

It works on Win10 but please make sure to have the latest updates.

Anyone else did get a gift from himself on GOG? I just got a mail about my account gifting me Giants Citizen Kabuto.

Never got the email, but the game is on my account now and downloaded the installer and everything. So if you haven't received the email yet you shouldn't worry.

I'm pretty sure this has already been a freebie once before, which may be the reason why it's on your account.

I suspect the GOG version of Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat is based on the early release of the game. This is hard to verify since no patch was ever issued for SotHR and it instead received an update for the budget version — the title screen doesn’t even show a version number I’m stupid: the updated version display a “1.1” in the lower right corner and the one from GOG doesn’t.

In any case, the data from the GOG version of the game and my copy of the budget version show some differences: the executables are different, 550kb for GOG and 565.5kb for the budget version; the file structure is different; some files, notably the mission scripts show some differences in locations or the number of units; etc.

I’m not sure because that version got some updates and changes of its own. The PSX port was appartently published by SSI and there’s a fair number of differences: the 3D battlefields look much better in the PSX version; the interface that takes so much of the space in the PC version is changed to a small unobstrusive one — it’s so much better that the developpers decided to use something similar for Dark Omen; the controls are adapted for a gamepad and work even pretty well, letting you quicly switch between the different troops, allies and enemies, unlike the mouse-driven interface of the PC version; the music uses CD quality though some tracks are cut short (easily noticeable in the title track) and there is less variety ( interestingly, the PC version features CD tracks but they were apparently included only as a bonus and aren’t used at all in the game); the cinematics and illustrations are heavily compressed and look muddy; the texts of the bestiary are shortened; some missions were tweaked a bit and you may encounter different troops than usual, like two rat ogres instead of one when you first encounter it.

Woooooooow I remember playing Turok on N64 loooooooong ago. Decent game but the levels that involve jumping are bullshit. Maybe it's different on PC with a keyboard and mouse but I wanted to smash my controller back then.

Superior PC controls even for a console game :smug:

Turok 1 and 2 had some pretty impressive level design despite their console origins. I played them on PC obviously, and despite some control issues loved both. It's a shame the series went to complete shit afterwards.
