Anyone who pre-orders games more than a week or so before release is autistic. Discuss.

I thought GOG was DRM-Free, but then their version of Prison Architect gets updated to require Paradox Launcher malware. WTF!?

What is keeping this from happening to other games down the line? I would expect this on Steam, but on GOG??

GOG is silent about this. Now what?

The only thing worse than GOG's periodical screw-ups and erosion of the goodwill they built up in the early years is their PR.

Are gogmixes ever coming back? Why did they remove such a good feature?
I can't find shit on their site without them. I haven't made a purchase on GOG in forever.

Does it require it to launch, or only for online features? If the latter, can you uninstall it? If both those are true then I could see GOG technically saying it's not DRM, even if it is obviously against their stated purpose and a bunch of bullshit. If it's required in general then that's some super-duper bullshit.

GOG requires an OS with DRM to play most of its titles or use its client so it's inherently not DRM-free

gog also requires you to have a PC.

    You wouldn't download a PC.

If your argument is that PCs should be binary-blob free without on-chip backdoors, I agree.

The launcher automatically starts when you launch the game.

That's annoying for sure, but if it never requires an internet connection to function then I wouldn't call it DRM.

I still remember the efforts needed to keep Warlords II Deluxe running as I upgraded my system. Needing to keep an old Trident card around just for that game was a pain.

Makes me so grateful for DOSBox.
