Ah, they added invisible walls so the player doesn't accidentally kill himself (or throw enemy down)

There's no hope.

Why did you watch a video with that thumbnail? Why would anyone do such a thing? WHY?

It's a demo. What did you expect? That they'd let you leave the demo area and explore the entire map? The game is still far from finished

Look at where he is. It's literally the first area of the game, as you walk down the road from where you start towards old camp. It must be well within the demo area.

They are following the apparently succesfull school of design from the makers of archololos.

I keep hearing it's good design actually. It's not, but that is what people I thought knew better keep saying.

The demo is surprisingly well thought of, yeah. It's linear and shows everything that needed to be shown while having a great premise with..

Also wtf why does he have a manbun? Nameless hero always had a ponytail...

..with having us play as Nyras. PAY ATTENTION.

The area beyond the invisible wall leads to the small island teeming with lizards. How can that be part of the demo when the story in it is about being trapped in the mountains above the valley?

YES. He had the bright idea to come with a manbun to prison, that picture is the aftermath.
"Hrmmm then tell me, sweetie, how come he's not bald in the demo? :smug:"

"We are the BIGGEST Gothic fans out there, we understand why this game is loved and we want to make full justice to it. We promise!".

They then proceed to:
- change most of the characters in the first iteration of the demo to the point of making them unrecognizable (and insufferable, too).
- borrow the poor man's version of For Honor's combat for the first iteration.
- Put invisible walls every-fucking-where (both in the original vertical slice and now apparently in the final version).
- pick a de-centered third person camera as the default option and go against what the series always did.

Jesus fucking Christ, why it's always the inepts who are gifted a chance and a a budget?

I don't really understand your points. I suppose you're referring to the actual charactarization of the characters, not the design as that seems pretty fine to me. To that point also, I haven't noticed anyone being overly annoying.

Not sure what you mean by poor man's for honor combat, it's supposed to be crap for the first iteration?

It's a demo meant to be confined to a relatively small area, aren't there supposed to be invisible walls?

The camera I'm not sure why is a big deal, is there like an analysis video that's several hours long that I didn't watch on why de-centered cameras are satan's work?

I'm talking about the complete "revamp" of Diego (turning him in a "talkative dandy" and a wannabe knock-off of "Sean Connery in Highlander") they did in occasion of their "teaser demo" released 2-3 years ago.
On top of that, how the nameless hero was turned into a Wish version of Nathan Drake in Uncharted (or any "lovable rogue" of that sort), with the incessant quipping and talking to himself.

Sure. That disaster was entirely scrapped in the end and it has nothing to do with the current version of the game, but I can't pretend they didn't attempt to make that change at some point.

The first version of the combat they implemented in the same demo mentioned above was literally their cheap-ass take on the For Honor combat system.

That's not the problem. The problem is that the walls are set in places where they don't want you to fall from high heights and you can bet your ass they will be in the final game, too.

Because de-centered camera fucking SUCK in general and the Gothic saga/PB output was one of the last series in third person view that avoided this bubonic plague.

The main thing I don't like about the remake is the fact that they made the infamous "teaser demo" a few years ago, and then, when the backlash happened, they didn't admit that they fucked up, but enabled the full damage control mode: "Ah, hehehe, you know... it was just a big joke! We intentionally made this demo shitty, because we wanted to draw attention of the potential players!"
It was a dick move and I don't believe these guys.

What? No they didn't. They said "Okay, we hear you, that sucked, we'll do it differently" and then seemingly did so. Where is this "haha it was just a joke" post? Link it.

"The Playable Teaser was released in 2019 and consciously made completely different to get the stronger feedback from the community.

The final version of the game will have almost nothing in common with PT. The Hero will be not so talkative too.

After the Playable Teaser people could complete a survey about the game, here are the results - http://n.thq.com/sQC130qiBae"

That's absolutely nothing like how you presented it. He is saying "yes, the idea was initially to do something very different from the original Gothic. People didn't like it, and it was completely scrapped."
