I can't wait until Grim Dawn get its full release.

Been waiting on it since I beat Immortal Throne.

Everybody else seems to have taken up early access.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Act 2 sucked in Diablo II too, so what?

Act 2 was the best act of D2, wtf are you talking about.

No, you're crazy.

Act 2 was a barren/banal wasteland lacking color and diversity.

Now all ARGP's have sandy deserts.

It's a desert. The atmosphere and art style were both top notch. The city, the tombs, the tunnels, the monsters, they all fit in with each other perfectly. It's not like act 1 and act 4 had much diversity either despite the fact that they weren't set in a naturally monotonous environment.

Well, that's true... All of D2 is top notch in a sense, but I liked Act 2 the least because of my personal taste.

I was let down by Path of Exile, and I was REALLY let down by D3.

I hope Grim Dawn will help fill that void.

PoE is the closest to D2 of all of those (except I fucking hate the skill gem shit), I don't see Grim Dawn filling it.

Played till lvl 15 last night. It's pretty good, auto-attack combat notwithstanding. I like the sense of discovery and wonder of the early levels in RPGs that many of them sadly lack but GD manages to capture perfectly. Atmosphere is great, though not quite up there with the bittersweet melancholy of DS and POE. Wouldn't be fair to compare it to POE though as that's had years of content updates and polish to benefit from.

I think it is perhaps important to inform people who have not played this game much of the following:

A number of builds are equipment based. I do not mean they need equipment to work well. There are a number of skills only available from equipment. These include:

1) a number of pets (about 3 or 4 depending)
2) dual wield pistols (there are abour 3-4 items that make this allowable and usually give an proc as well)

Additionally certain relics can give a left click attack similar to cadence/savagery and you can potentially do things like have a proc based build based on that. (i.e. go soldier/NB/shaman but a relic left click attack that give attack speed instead of extra damage).

Similarly certain item or enhancement based skills can shore a build that is purely class based. For example some people may build for Calidor's Tempest from arcanist as their main power and spam PBAOE but actually use a non-class based skill for some single target stuff because arcanist may lack something that works well for you build.

It is actually quite important to isolate whether you require certain key items or augment a build weakness this way.

So in reality something like a Maximum pet build is easily 50% not based on class. This is a fairly strong departure from typical ARPG tropes of the past. But is also not always true. Many builds are very much class based.

The only pet worth using that you get from gear with a summoner is the skeleton, and it's not even close to being the best one, that spot is reserved for the mastery pets. For a pet build the important ones are the Hellhound, Raven, Briarthorn and Primal Spirit. All of them gotten from the masteries. Playing a summoner without any gear is very doable. I did it, and I got all the important drops while I played with that character.

Sure you can play a summoner fine with BT and HH. BT is very strong, he annihilates the early game. Saying the item pets are not worthwhile though is somethign I can't agree with a couple of them are quite solid additions when you are already buffing pets. Again you need the items for a Maximum pet build not a build that uses pets. If you want an army of 5+ pets you need the items. With a high degree of +pet dam/speed/health/res the item pets contribuet a lot especially since BT also buffs.

Only 1 pet more is a solid addition, then you will get diminishing returns. Unless they made a drastic change in the last patch and pets can now walk over each other, they will just block each other if you have too many of them. 4 melee pets is the sweet spot and anything after that will just hurt your damage since most of them are not very good, like the Stormhound, and they have a tendency of blocking each other from attacking an enemy. Many times have I seen my superior Hellhound sit around twiddling his thumbs because the useless Stormhound had hogged up his spot. The Raven isn't an issue since he's just shooting lightning and his main function is to give your other pets the Elemental damage buff. Again, you are overshooting the need for equipment that give you more pets. With the Shaman + Occultist kit you get access to all the pets you'll really ever need. You'll only need pet gear to boost their damage and defense.

I think Storm Surge in the Shaman Primal Strike tree is bugged. Instead of doing 574 bleeding damage over 2 seconds it only does 5.

Umm, I have a rather stoopid question: What is the second part of the inventory on the right? *confused*
My backpack ( = moar inventory ) or some alternative weapon slot thing maybe?

It's just added inventory space. You'll get more of those bags as you get further in the game.
