Real long shot here, but I remember saving this image from an old thread (maybe even this one). Does anyone know who the original artist and/or poster was?

How far have you all got in this game? I played for a few hours.
I finished it, I had at least 150-200 hours with it. Once I understood how everything works I just couldn't stop playing this game for half a year until I saw the end. I didn't touch another game in this whole time. I felt like an empty shell afterwards, it had become such an important part of my everyday life. No matter how shitty my days were I always knew I could return to the mysterious lands of Hyperborea in the evening, it was the perfect escapism. Can't say I've experienced anything even remotely similar with any other game. I don't know what it is but there is some strange and unique magick about this game I couldn't resist.

I feel like that about all great games :) Shame I only ever found a handful like that!

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Grab the Codex by the pussy RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth
.....thankfully for him.
Grimoire made less money in sales than Cleve's mom made dry humping teddy bears on OnlyFans.
Disaster. Wow.

Why are you so obsessed with Cleve and Grimoire? Your obsession was bordering on insane the last time, now it's pure lunacy.

Viability of all rat party for this?
They have low resistances and slightly low base attributes. However they get significant bonuses for Pirate and Assassin (in fact no other race gets bonuses for Pirate), so if you want to multi-class some of your characters in that direction, they can end up pretty strong. They have decent mana regen and their unarmed attacks can cause disease (only really useful for the first few hours). I'd do an all Rhattu party before doing an all Drow party.

Might put together a pirate rat crew then at some point and see how far I get, thanks!

There is indeed only a handful of games which had a similar attraction for me, Ultima VII maybe, World of Xeen, Gothic II, Baldur's Gate 1 or Dark Disciples II. But no game entertained me for such a long period of time and on such a constantly high level like Grimoire.

The achievement was surviving until the game came out. Your buddy fucked it up.

His cancer was aggressive, but he still survived 5 years after diagnosis. In those 5 years, Cleve paid some guy to make cheap clipart as NPC placeholders and had multiple people throwing money at him for NO PROGRESS.
He said the price would never drop. NO PRICECUTS ON THIS GLORIOUS GAME!
You can't even give it away. Total BOMB. If you add up the 14+ years he worked on the game, then figure up total sales, he probably averaged about 5$ an hour.
NEW VIDEO COMING ON MEMORIAL DAY......!!!!!!!!!

Would you say that if your friend hadn't been rotting from the inside already, Grimoire would have given him cancer?

Honestly, maybe.
The clipart alone could be linked to various cases of nausea, vomiting, and many pregnant mothers have lost their children in the womb after viewing the shot graphics for extended periods.
Several studies have shown that the inability to get fullscreen for almost a year after release caused various types of cancers of the brain.
Add the unbalanced gameplay and endless array of amateur bugs and inept programming, and you have a bonafide cancer causing host.
