Meeting of the Sarge and Roger :(

I saw Roger as a piece of shit before doing the Canterbury arc. Realised from that he's pretty much the same as the late-game protagonist.

Makes sense, Roger is yet another former PC, just like Ruffin, it's just that his game ain't out yet, probably Welsh campaign.

I finally purchased this game after seeing the discount.

Loving it so far. Loving the many ways I've died already and I haven't even reached past Chapter 3 yet.

My only real complaint so far is the writing due to the modernspeak, but that might be due to the translators.

Is it the same in Russian?

This Game may contain content not appropriate for all ages, or unappropriate for viewing at work (partial nudity, sexual themes)

Boooo I expected porn, what is this bullshit?
A friend told me one of the DLCs has it. I don't know if it's true, just bought it and haven't got to play it yet.

Nudity is a free DLC, you have to enable it in the settings, but if you bought it for this reason, then you will be very underwhelmed. Also, it might be good idea to go through Heads Will Roll: Downfall first, a free prequel which introduces you to some of the characters you will meet in the main game and makes some backgrounds more understandable.

I'm on lvl 700 rn(playing HWR difficulty since day 1) and can't stop playing it.

I'm currently figuring out different builds to kill Ruffin on first encounter. This game is triggering my autism really hard.

So far the strongest build I've tried is the estoc without a shield with that hood trinket that gives +10 evasion and hit chance if you use one handed weapons without shield, the 50% evasion amulet and either the +3 melee ring with feint immunity, the -15 enemy evasion dagger or the death card(I've been avoiding the later because it kinda feels like cheating tbh).

You pretty much one shots everyone with the skill that bypasses armor and triples base damage and are untouchable(ive managed to beat the game naked a couple times with this build).

max weapon skill and polearm for the reach advantage, can manage it even in prestige mode if you start out maxing alcohol

with sword master ring for feint resistance, fencing dagger for skill and evasion boosts and the dagger that drops enemy evasion, it's something like 40 to 41 weapon skill vs Ruffian's 35 lol

I tried to go back home after the war and lead a humble decent life as a civilian. But these tax-levying bastards just wouldn't let me drink strong ale and smith my armor in peace. Now we about to get all Jacquerie up in this shit.

I know this looks bad, guys... but we aren't just another group of highly skilled and heavily armored thugs beating up all you peasants to enrich a tyrant. This time it is different. We're actually beating you up for the proletariat. That's a fancy word that means filthy peasants like you.

Heads-Will-Roll01.png

AAAAAND.... it's gone. The miller at the second village hired elite crossbow mercenaries who slew me quick with an aimed neck shot. These f'ing peasants just don't want to be freed from tyranny, I guess.

But I'll be back.

If you have a high craftsmanship, why did you not make a custom helmet with decent neck protection?

I had high dodge. I wasn't even getting hit on my torso or head.

Who could have foreseen a freak crossbow bolt finding its way into my trachea?

since it's the hardest part to hit, it's a natural gamble to expose the neck to avoid the armor maluses

unfortunately for you, crossbow hit chance doesn't work like melee, you'd know if you ever made use of them

Crafted armour and helms (and holy cow how the hell did you get it so high compared to other stats) are way better than the standard stuff once you get craftsmanship to the early 20s. Combine a fauld with a gambeson with and you get great protection with very mild stat penalties. You might as well craft together every armour and helmet combo you find with high craftsmanship as you can sell it for a good profit even if you don't use it (while saving precious inventory space).

Is the game complete, by the way? I played it years ago but it ended when you had to defend a town on the left side of a map and I think there was also a witch's hut somewhere on the right?

Never played the old version, in the new version is complete and you have two mayor story branches after Cambrai. I guess you are referring to the Rennes branch, where you can defeat the mercenaries and either marry the Karen ruling the city or move on to further adventures in Outremer. Marrying the alchemist (her sister) is also the possibility.

There is at least one more DLC incoming.

Yeah, none of that was in the game back in the day (like ~3 years ago (Don't think the saves were put outside the game directory, otherwise I could date it better.)). It was incomplete which was rather unfortunate. So no marrying or moving further. No branching either IIRC.

Ahh, okay. Thank you.

I was a humble smith, so I spent all my time in Cambrai just working at the forge and drinking all the strong ale that I had lugged from home with my ox-like strength.

In other words... Role-playing™

Ahh, never mind. It did branch back then. Just everything was unfinished. It's also still pretty broken. Playing the game on "normal" to get into it again and I beat that twat that wants your new shiny 2h sword that the monks gift to you for being virtuous (it just took forever - only guy so far that I couldn't beat was Ruffin). Just decapitated the sheriff with it. Would do the same with the wench but I probably have to go for her and torture that poor guy...unless some other woman turns up later?

The repair armor option seems broken. Nothing turns up in that list, despite two pieces being damaged now.

I think damage to 'extra' armour like neck gorgets and mail leggings is permanent.

But I think the first one that was damaged was a shield (which I then replaced) and now it's been the helmet for a long time, in addition to the neck gorget recently.
